Cognition 2.2 PowerOn.snd? - Captivate General

I just flashed Cognition 2.2 Beta 4 and while it's not really stated anywhere, I'm guessing the startup sound was turned off. I personally like a startup sound and have a custom one I'd like to use but can't figure out how to get it to work. I see in /system/etc there is PowerOn.snd and no PowerOn.wav like I thought it should be. Is there another place to turn this back on?
Thanks!

PowerOn.wav is what was removed. if you have a custom sound, just name it PowerOn.wav and drop it in there.

Hmmm, then I wonder if there is a size restriction. I did just that and no sound.

EDIT: Nevermind. I copied the file over again and it works just fine. Thanks for the reassurance.

Change Keyboard sounds?

I've navigated through the system files to /system/media/audio/ui to try to find the Samsung Keyboard noise, but alas, unable to find.
Anyone able to help me out on this? Is there an application that lets you modify application sounds? I understand the ogg file converter and pushing via cmd prompt, so if you could tell me where the Samsung Keyboard sound is that'd help the poppaloppin' noise is too loud for my taste. I know you can disable it but I prefer another sound. Thanks!
I was thinking the same thing. I have the Samsung Vibrant stock 2.2 and with the loud ticking noise it makes me want to turn my phone on silent. But rather than complaining and hating it, I want to make it better. like the older LG Quick messaging phones (I dont remember which model) had a full qwerty keyboard and every different button you pressed made a soft simple little note from a keyboard or piano or something. so whenever one of my friends was typing a text it sounded amusing listening to little songs that can be made by simple random letters being pressed.
So I would just like to know if anyone knows where these files are located, because finding them is the hardest part. making the noise would be nothing at all, it'd just take a few hours. just pull up a sound board and make different notes for each letter. Anyone have any ideas??
UPDATE:
ok so if you get root explorer (obviously needs to be rooted) and go to
/system/media/audio/ui
you will see the ".ogg" sound files. you can replace any of those, as long as you name them the same file names as the stock ones. I replaced mine with the linda voice
link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=962442
it also has an ".ogg" sound file for these:
"keypress standard" (regualr letters)
"keypress spacebar"
"keypress delete"
and "keypress return" I think was the last one (probably the enter button on keyboard)
I'm actually about to go home and play with those and see what I can make.
I still want to be able to do a different tone for each letter but have to look further into that. so far this is ok
Man I've done that 3 times now using the .ogg keyboard sounds I pulled from a different ROM I really wanted, but no matter how many times I delete the originals then rename mine exactly it stays the same! I'm losing hope and patience.

Sorry, I missed your response! I couldn't figure out how to get custom sounds going so I just reverted to the stock files. It's aggravating that LineageOS keyboard sounds are so horrible, lol, but oh, well.

Stay Awake for Charge

Here is a .zip file that I put together from the Fascinate Stay Awake zip.
I installed it on my phone and it seems to be working pretty good.
This is my first file that I've tried to share so if there are any problems getting it pm me.
1. Download .zip file to sd card
2. reboot phone into recovery. (if your not running CWM this won't work)
3. select "install .zip from sd card.
4. select .zip file
5. select install .zip file.
6. press volume up and down at the same time to enable "go back" button on cwm menu.
7. go back
8. restart phone
This option will be in the settings menu under applications/development
Running I510 with jt's CWM recovery / voodoo lagfix and imnuts ED2 debloated rom
Install .zip at your own risk.
THIS IS A FASCINATE FILE THIS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK.
IT APPEARS THIS IS CAUSING SOME FORCE CLOSES WITHIN THE SYSTEM SETTINGS....DUE TO THE FACT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR THE FASCINATE.

When you say "installed it on my phone," would that phone be a Charge (or a Fascinate)? Will give this a try in a bit.

From your home screen touch the top as if you are going to pull down the notification screen down. When you see the notification screen come down off the top, slide your finger left to dim and right to brighten.

thats a settings.apk from the fascinate then...i wouldnt recommend releasing modified apks from other phones as a mod unless specifically saying "this is a fascinate file, may/may not work"....just my .02
i can find out the specific edit for it and redo for it for the charge settings.apk if that is something people really want

I was quite annoyed by the fact you couldn't stay awake when plugged in. I looked through the Charge settings in the ee4_deodexed system files and it looks like it should be available under settings>applications>development, but it doesn't actually show up. I was comparing it to the stay awake zip you put up and I haven't yet been able to figure out where the changes were made to make it work. I did, however, in my search find "stay awake widget" on the market which lets you choose if you want to stay awake when attached to USB or AC, and it works perfectly! So I guess all my frustration with it had a very simple fix haha

I wonder is Samsung purposely leaves out the "Stay Awake" option b/c the SAMOLED+ display is more prone to burn-ins.

Been trying for two days to fix this 'feature' but they have changed the file position of the code and am having trouble finding it. Oh well at least I've learnt everything I ever wanted to know about decompiling/ recompiling . lol
I'm gonna try again in a few days once my sister has gone home as this is the first time in a year I've seen her in a year.
Wish me luck
i'm also looking for a way to disable increasing ring tone , also find it very annoying .
Try headset button controller
Not sure if this is actually a fix but just did some quick informal testing and seems to work: install app headset button controller and under advanced options set the default volume when plugging in headphones to 65% or above. If someone else can verify this it would be awesome.

Good try but when plugging my headphone in with this active, the device notices the volume change and the warning comes straight up.
Thanks anyway.
Ah yes, after I rebooted and plugged in I got the warning. However it seems to only be an issue the first time after reboot, then looks like it's good to go. Just don't reboot
Not sure if it applies to this phone as I sport note 4 and am only browsing, but in absence of xposed mod, I use tasker. Also free app 'hearing saver' from play store works for me.
Note 4 ?

I've already tried this. Needs smali edit. But I've been unable to find the code for this function.
edgarf28 has managed to accomplish this in his ROM and I have requested a point in the right direction or even a flashable version (bit cheeky I know) he has also managed to incorporate 5 way reboot that I would really like help with to. Might have to go and beg him again .lol

Problem is theres not much ROM deving on 925f at the moment. I know this will pick up. I'm just impatient
I've been searching everywhere for a way to disable this volume warning. Has anyone figure it out and posted instructions? I see it in a couple custom ROMs but I haven't found how it is done.

I've simply flashed the alliance ROM. Very happy
In general, this issue still bothers me. At least in my car, in which I use an auxilliary cord, I've an NFC tag programmed to open Spotify and turn media volume all the way up using NFC Tasks/Tools. At least for me, this works to get past the warning initially, and is useful when I need to unplug then plug back in.
I would love to see a general fix that doesn't require rooting my phone; that sanctimonious popup drives me bonkers.
If youll go to the music player on your phone. Click settings, then click smart volume on. Try it out. Works for me on my s6

No Shutter Sounds [Root]

Got the silence files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66258646&postcount=13
You DO NEED ROOT but its simple.
There are 6 files that need to change in system/media/audio/ui
af_failure.ogg
af_success.ogg
cam_snap_0.ogg
camera_click.ogg
camstart.ogg
camstop.ogg
With a root file manager (root explorer, etc) rename those 6 files to .old and replace with the files in the zip provided. Then just FIX PERMISSIONS and reboot.
Very nice find.
For those without root, i'll add this: I was playing with a camera app last night that was recommended somewhere, cymera maybe? And in it, it had an option to go silent. I turned all my volumes up outside the app, went in, took a picture, zero sound. So that might be an option for others.

How to turn off notification sound at shutdown or restart?

Unsure when this started or if I just hadn't noticed but went I recently changed the default SMS sound I get a notification when turning off the U11+.
The default notification sound accompanies device shutdown or restart.
Is this a stock feature or have I inadvertantly turned this sound on?
Thoughts or suggestions on how to turn off if it is possible on stock?

@kenosis is right, audio.wav is embedded in a folder named part4 inside the boot animation file located in /system/customize/resource/hTC_bootup_U_QCT_2880.zip. i opened the zip on my laptop, renamed the audio.wav file to audio.wav_ copied the updated zip to my U11+, backed up the original hTC_bootup_U_QCT_2880.zip_, pasted the new version in the folder, set permissions and waa-la, no more boot-up sounds!

Thank you for sharing this. This is helpful but not what I am seeking.
The issue with my phone relates to shutting down the device which triggers the default notification sound(not HTC jingle). Is this stock behavior?

whoops! yeah, i totally misunderstood (or misread, lol). definitely not having that issue.
Mine is quiet both on startup and shutdown.
I found what was causing this.
Flick Launcher notification access was turned on - turned off did the trick.
