[Q] Alternate Recovery to Load ROM - General Questions and Answers

I've looked everywhere for answeres to no avail. So this is my problem, I have a mytouch 3G with out the 3.5mm jack [32B] that I rooted the easy way, Universal Androot. I went into recovery after renaming my rom update.zip, and on the recovery, clicked apply update.zip, but it said verification failed. I learned that the recovery screen i hav, the one with the triangle abd the exclamation point with the image of the phone is not the one I need, so I looked for different recovery screens. I tried ROM Manager to flash clockwork recovery, but it said an error occured while attempting to run privaledged commands, this appeared too when i tried the alternate recovery in ROM manager. Then i tried Recovery Flasher, but it said back up failed. I pressed the invisible button to skip this step, then tried flashing the recovery, flash failed. Please I need some answeres, I don't want to keep looking for more recoveries because i think that they wont flash too.

[Q] cannot boot in CWM recovery

Hello,
I have rooted my phone yesterday. Now I want to instal a custom ROM. I flashed the phone with ROM manager. Then I select the option: Boot into clockwork recovery. It reboots into recovery but the wrong one. It reboots into the android standard recovery. When I press on apply update.zip it will say signature failed.
I really have no clue what to do, please help me.
Try re-downloading the update.zip file again to make sure that one isnt corrupted
I have the same issue can't boot into clockworkmod. The samsung stock loader shows up
Select update.zip and it should load cwm

[Q] HELP stuck on google screen after trying to root with superboot

I tried using superboot to root my nexus s, but ended up with having a stuck google screen upon reboot.
Is there anyway I can recover my phone to the original state. I can get into the boot screen by pressing up volume and the power button and I have downloaded an original rom; however, I don't know how to upload this rom
into the phone.
I unlocked the bootloader, and have the android SDK installed. I do have a response when I use the command "fastboot devices"
Is there any possible way to save my phone? Please help, Thanks in advance
is there a recovery image saved under the recovery option?
Hey I'm having the exact same problem as the OP.
I don't have a recovery image saved in recovery, so I tried to flash the latest CWM recovery image through adb, but the device isn't found.
My phone was rooted, then upgraded to 2.3.4, then got 2.3.6 OTA, but lost root. Tried to root with Superboot and now my phone's stuck.
How can I get my phone to work again?

Click to collapse
You have to flash CWM using fastboot, not adb.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once you have the custom recovery flashed you can flash superuser in CWM to get root back or just flash one of the custom ROMs that include superuser.
Yes, I did exactly that.
I really have no idea what I'm doing so I'm extremely grateful for people who do.
Thanks
I am in the same boat as these other chaps. After installing the 2.3.6 OTA update I tried to root with Superboot and now my Nexus S just sits on the Google screen with the open padlock.
I've tried installing CWM recovery, as well as the boot.recovery.img that comes with Superboot, and it seems to install successfully. After rebooting my phone still sits on the Google screen, however.
Am I doing something wrong here (I'd previously rooted with few problems)?
EDIT: I should mention that after flashing the .img I'm trying to boot into recovery - at this point it just sits on the Google screen.
EDIT 2: Never mind, I sorted it. I tried using a different recovery.img (from this thread) and I was then able to get into recovery and restore a backup.

[Q] HELP! Evo won't flash anything, Clockworkmod recovery to blame?

So, I've been trying to unroot my EVO for a week now and keep getting stuck. Yes, I have meticulously followed the many tutorials online, but my phone refuses to actually flash anything. I started by trying to use ROM Manager, which after many failed flashing attempts tells me it is on a ROM and radio version that the EVO's "about phone" does not agree with. Likewise, ROM Manager assures me that the current recovery is RA v2.3 after I selected "flash alternate recovery", but the recovery it boots to is still ClockworkMod 5.0.2.2. Trying to flash both an RUU and RA recovery via PC36IMG.zip through HBOOT was also unsuccessful (it identifies the zip, a progress bar goes by for about a minute, and then I am taken back to the standard HBOOT menu without any effect.)
Any ideas? All my data is backed up in many other places so if there is some sort of nuclear option that can take my phone back to scratch please let me know.

[Q] Clockwork Recovery flash works then doesn't

I am trying to install the Clockwork Recovery on my Galaxy tab 7" series 2. I followed the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861838 and used heimdall to flash the recovery.img from cwm-6.0.1.1-p3110.tar (obtained from http://rootzwiki.com/topic/33069-gt-p31xx-clockworkmod-recovery-6011/) .
Heimdall seems to indicate that flashing the recovery went just fine:
Uploading RECOVERY
100%
RECOVERY upload successful
But when I reboot into recovery mode, it seems that I have the standard "Android System Recovery" and not the clockwork recovery. Trying to install an update (to root the tablet) from external storage results in a signiture verification failure. I'd appreciate any help in starting to troubleshoot this.
Well, I got the Clockwork Recovery done by trying another few times. I'm not sure why it suddenly worked without my doing anything different, but it did.
