I have a verizon tp2 that i bought on ebay recently and it works great other than a little issue with some of the function keys. more than half are not the one that the key says it is and others don't work at all, some are the correct key. for instance the ":" key actually produces a "/", the ";" key produces a "\", trying to type a comma just results in it doing a period which is the primary function of that key. "=" is a "_", and on and on. interestingly, all the symbols on the number keys work correctly and " is a " so not all of the symbols on the letter keys are messed up, but most are.
the keyboard is set to english, my region is USA, and the on screen keyboard works correctly.
It came loaded with energy rom and I just loaded the most recent version of energy on it cause i kinda like it and i was hoping reloading the rom would fix it, it didn't. I have looked all over for settings related to this and i see nothing. Is the keyboard itself screwy or something?
you just need to install the verizon keyboard cab, or install the verizon provisioning. it's in the energy rom thread
awesome, that fixed it thanks. If anyone else has the issue and wants the fix I linked it here.

Hi All,
I have been trying to get japanese input working on my Raphael, and have run into some problems. Here's what I have done:
1. Installed LesJapanNo6 - all working/tested no problems
soft reset
2. Installed IME_31J_QVGA_F file
soft reset
-> manila.exe error, device.exe error, and another exe error (can't remember now - think it was TouchFlo3d related). Hardware keys dead.
3. Made the registry edit to get hardware keys working
soft reset (note, regional settings still Japanese)
After that, every time I would try and input something, or change the input method, I get ongoing crashes in device.exe (until I closed the kayboard).
I then decided to change the regional setting back to English (UK), and then soft reset. Now it starts with no errors, but input is stuck on hiragana and the keyboard icon has disappeared so no standard romaji input.
I think I now have to install the enable_ime_2 and/or enable_ime_3 cabs, but am paranoid I have already done something wrong (crashes etc from step 2). Can anyone more experienced hint at the final steps to get this all working?
Thanks,
Raj
The steps you have above should work fine, but use the VGA version:
http://rapidshare.com/files/159514259/IME_31J_F.cab.html
You might need to go ahead and hard reset before you try again.
Just for reference, I have LetsJapanNo6 and IME_31J_F on my Raphael 1.90.405.1 WWE (UK stock ROM), with the following reg tweaks applied:
Code:
[HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload]
default = "E0010411"
[HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1]
default = "E0010411"
[HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IMEJP\3.1\MSIME]
Option3 = "D"
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010411]
Keyboard Layout = "00000409"
Word of caution: when you go to edit the reg values, highlight the text and write over it; don't use the backspace key, because for some reason it inserts a lot of garbled text. Once you've saved the reg edits and soft-reset, the backspace key functions as normal again.
Also consider using PQzII to map keycode 0xE6 to IME; this will allow you to press the SYM key on the hardware keyboard to toggle between ascii (A→a) and kana (A→あ) input.
Other known issues: JP IME breaks T9/word suggestion, some other minor oddities.
SoftBank is releasing its version of the Raphael, so be on the lookout for a native JP ROM (which will have everything set up correctly) in the future.
Working perfectly now, fantastic!!!
Thanks!!!
I tried to map the SYM button to IME. But there is no way for me to specify 0xE6 in the IME menu.
is the new Raphael PQzII different?

I typed it in.
I'm using 008e1, but the latest e2 should be fine.
I have had this working for about a month now but was wondering how to get a keyboard shortcut to switch the kana/romanji input. This works perfect.. thanks!!!
thanks!!!
just a shot question:
as I use the hw-kb of my xperia for inputting text, it would be cool to have the tegaki-kb as standard one. Whenever I set it in Windows Mobile-Settings, it gets switched back to romaji-kb on restart.
is there a reg-hack for this?
would greatly appreciate your help!!!

It might be a problem with Xperia Panels resetting it to romaji-kb (TouchFlo3D does the same thing on the Touch Pro).
If you use PQzII, you can configure it to override the default input panel. You can even specify different default panels for portrait and landscape. Just open up the setup program (PQzII_Setup) and the settings is on the first page.
nevermind, got everything working!
thanks!
Hey fellow XDA-ers.
I hope that in this thread we can unite in finding a solution for the annoying t9 input mehod, without breaking the hardware keyboard.
What's the problem:
I want to get rid of the annoying black t9 input and autocomplete bar, and use the standard WM6.1 version.
What anoys me the most is when you type an address for sending text, you start by typing first name of for instance friends who share a first name, but have different last names, , as soon as you hit space for the lastname, the person with the first name that's on top of the list gets selected..ARG
I also hate the lag it introduces.
So getting rid of the black ezinput part of the keyboard.
This can be done by replacing the eT9 values in your registry at the layout to COMP (et9IME replace by compIME and so on) and this works for soft keyboard.
However, this "fix" breaks some stuff in your hardware keyboard (the SYM key for instance stops working, also you cannot get the euro sign or the pund sign by pressing fn E or fn W)
I of course want the best of both worlds, and especially miss the sym button for getting a "\" whilst typing in shortcuts
So, I have tried so much, but haven't found a solution yet.
Does anybody know how to get this "best of both worlds" option?
Does opening up the on-screen keyboard and hitting the T9 --> ABC switch help?
nope
It doesn't use autocomplete then when typing text, but you still get the black bar at the bottom whilst entering an address, and the space-issue (filling in word after space) is introduced.
I just want the behaviour as when eT9 replaced by comp (ei. you get a couple of suggestion in your screen in light grey boxes, in stead of on bottom bar in black) but with FULL use of my hardware keyboard.
I want to do this without installing all kinds of secondary software that slows my device down, but want to solve it at the root.
Hope I am explaining the problem clearly
But thanks for the reply..
Maybe we can figure it out..
known problem
I've done the t9 compIME registry change and to me, is a must. That black bar was SO annoying and decreased effectiveness.
I have noticed the hardware keyboard does get screwy after doing this.
Using Da_G's roms, he has solved most of the problems in some of his earlier roms. I think the only problem I have currently is a non-working "cent" sign (FN+_). I'll test this again after I flash to his latest Rom.
I think he solves this by implementing SOME of the t9 files. I'll follow up with more accurate results.

If that's the case, making a cab, or posting the necesary files to replace would be ideal.
Does your SYM key work?
sounds like a very good start
I had this same annoying error
I managed to get it to go away by
sliding out the keyboard
whilst pressing the green FN button hit the spacebar.
This brings up a small menu, select
ABC and bingo, its sorted.

Tnx for your input Steve.
I allready have that set up, but as you will find, it does not get rid of the black bar during txt msgs to field input, if you know what I mean.
It also gives lag on the hardware keyboard input comapred to the comp ide input method, which I find anoying.
What I really want is just the old wm input and auto complete feature without breaking my keyboard.
but as said before, thanks for the input.
This way we can narrow it down and hopefully make the problem easier to understand.
Ta...
tried editing sym files
Tried editing and replacing the txt files in windows directory,
eT9.Raphael.0409.kmap.txt and eT9DeadKeys.txt and renamint the et9 to comp, no luck.
Anybody any suggestions?

I did that and the black bar is gone! No more annoying auto-capitalizing and duplicated words! Thanks a lot!
Not quite

It get's rid of the black bar whilst typing a text, however whilst typing an adress in the to field, you will notice that you still get a black bar and proposed name in the bottom of your screen.
This is actually eT9 still running, and slowing down your input, trust me on this
The "old" way, you'd get the proposed names next to your to field, in a light grey box, and you could scroll through them and use the space bar without getting it to autocomplete.
I normally type the first few letters of the persons name, and then use the left and right arrow keys to gp through the matching contacts. That does the trick for me
indeed

It does the trick and it is how I use it now.
It's just not the solution I am looking for.
I'm a bit wierd in that way, if I see it poping up, I know it's there and it just annoys me...
Don't you just love the way things were before
But thanks for the tip.
No luck here yet
I haven't had any luck yet, anybody else?
This issue is really starting to bug me
Any luck yet with removing the T9 Black bar? I am having this problem as well.
Me too!
i want the old way with the little grey box, it was so much better. It gave a number of people when you typed in a user name for sms and it also gave better autocomplete options.
Solve for all us
Try attached CAB guys from our famous Russian PDA professional. It's remove this bar completely.
yes it worked for me on Touch HD perfectly
Works

TY it completely rocks on Touch HD.
Does this just disable T9 on the hardware keyboard? AND, when entering a contact into sms or email you get the grey list like before?
What about T9 for soft keypad/boards? How does it function now?
I stumbled upon your thread while searching for "disable t9 hardware keyboard".
I have the same problem on my Kaiser... Installed ezinput keypad/board and now have that 'damn' black bar. I'm getting used to it like 'GaZ' but dont really like it...
<<<UPDATE: Only selected abc over t9. Black bar still there.>>>>
use different sip
im not sure if this help but wasnt this issue introduced with the diamond sip set? maybe using different sips might get rid of it. or maybe replacing the new eT9 and using the old wm6 t9 instead in wm6.1 roms. just a thought
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Fuze when I try mapping a specific key in a program and it doesn't sense the proper key that I pressed. I noticed this in a couple of programs (not just games) so I downloaded a bunch of games just to test this out. In almost all games, I noticed that the arrow keys and some of the special keys are mappable, but all the alphabet keys are not. No matter which one I choose, none of the game or programs recognize the difference in keys. They either don't see em or give them the same Key ID.
Worse yet, the mappable special keys still launch programs in the background killing whatever I am doing. This is infinitely annoying. I did not flash a custom ROM. I am using the latest HTC FUZE rom from their website. The only thing I did different was I soft reset during ROM loading to kill the bloatware. Everything else runs correctly. It's not a hardware problem; all my text are fine; no issues with the FUZE seeing the different key strokes. I have no issues texting. It definitely seems like the Fuze keeps the same key ID for all of the same types of keys allowing them not to be mapped.
Is this a problem with the ROM (HTC May 2009)? Would using NRG latest ROM fix this? Should I go back to AT&T's latest ROM (AT&T April 2009 I think)? Please anyone that knows about this please let me know if you are experiencing this and how to fix. Thank you.
I am sorry if this is not the right place or if I am not posting in the right section, but I searched this forum/internet for hours and I am totally out of ideas. I downloaded a couple of programs, but they only changed the layout to flash non-Fuze ROMS etc. This is one of my first posts, so I apologize. This site is awesome.
Thanks,
nwdst
More info
I have looked into the wiki a bit before, but I dove back in so I can't be blamed for not reading it. I noticed the following two under tips:
#1
Keyboard Patch (For users with an AT&T Fuze)
File Can be found Here
#2
Start Menu and OK Buttons on the H/W Keyboard
If you would like to add custom keys (including Start and OK buttons) see here for customizing the Touch Pro Keyboard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424905 (Post #7 and #12)
For #1, what does the patch do? When I click on it it gives me the cab; but I don't know anything more about. What is the "Patch"?
For #2, I understand that you can map the the OK and start keys, but do I need to remap every key on the board? I still want the keys to do what they do just not when I run a certain program. Can a program do this for me?
1. The patch fixes a non AT&T TouchPro keyboard to function on an AT&T Fuze as they have different mappings.
2. Hardware keys can be mapped but not for specific functions within specific programs.
Thanks
Ok. I will not install the patch.
I understand that you can remap keys but I still don't understand why the key ID under most programs still remains the same for all alpha characters on my keyboard. Is this the same case for anyone with a cooked or At&t rom? I have latest HTC Rom.
Hi: I just bought a used HTC AT&T Fuze. It works pretty well but there seems to be something whacky with the external keyboard. When I press the FN key, instead of allowing me to type numbers and symbols, it simply turns the caps lock on. It seems like the keyboard is functioning like a full QWERTY PC keyboard instead of a custom one for the phone. For example, when I type along the top row, instead of it typing the various symbols across the top of the keyboard, it types the numbers 1, 2, 3... When I use the CAPS lock, it inputs a TAB - which is exactly where the tab key is on a regular keyboard. (BTW, the FN key is exactly where the CAPS lock key is on a regular keyboard...) Anybody have any ideas what might be going on? I've tried a hard reset twice now - with no success.
SOLVED: Just updated the firmware and all is working perfectly now.
Thanks,
Dave
My keyboard dock is working perfectly - well, at least in terms of the keys not freezing or the touchpad becoming unresponsive. However, I do have one issue with it. Some of the secondary symbols on the keys (such as the @ sign, the hash tag) don't correspond with what appears when you touch it. So, for example, when I press the @ key, I get quotation marks instead, and when I press the hashtag key, I get the backslash sign.
Does anyone have this problem?
Is the @ symbel Shift-2?
Sounds like your keyboard is set to the UK layout. I don't have my TF yet, so I can't tell you exactly where, but change your language/regional settings to the US layout.
