Is there any way to change the shortcut that goes to the built in task manager (long hold on the home key) to point to Advance Task Killer instead?

Just a suggestion but this may get a better response in the Q&A section.
Have you tried Launcher pro? It would help with custom icons and the Home Key action.

I guess you can use ftouchflo to gesture control just about anything. You just have to associate the gesture with the app you want to start.
i don't wanna start an app (thats easy enough) i wanna "press" a soft key!
thanks for your reply !
then I dunno
but when you press a softkey you'll be starting an app right? so what's the catch?
no it would be used for menu's and the like, such as when in messaging a gesture would control the menu button.

My ideia involves mortscript and ftouchflo.
Just create a mortscript that presses the softkey and then associate it to a gesture in ftouchflo.
The mortscript command to invoke the softkey is something like: SendRightSoft.
You'll find plenty of info on there two softwares around the forum
cheers will check it out!
theres a software called FtouchSL which allows soft keys to be 'pressed' using gestures, if any one is interested that is!
Hi. I'm running Manila 2D 19 and I have HTC boot launcher, task manager, and quick menu installed. I believe those are all the programs I need for it to work, but the top right corner is just blank.
I did a search and found people referring to an option under settings --> task manager --> buttons --> enable in quick menu? But I don't have that option.
Weird thing is that it works fine with Manila 2D 22. Any suggestions? Thx.
I have the same problem, I searched alot in the forms for a solution without getting good resluts. Can anyone help with this issue?
I have HTC Cruise 2 with WM6.1.

I had the same problem. Installed some kind of HTC taskmanager (Google helps) and after that witk SKTools changed back to original ROM files (look for *task* in the listing in SKTools). Now I have the icon bac on its place and working.
Solution
Normally you can find in your HTC Phone the following setting:
Settings/system/task manager/button/enable the "X" button to end running/end programs by tapping "X".
if you cannot find task manager in Settings/system/,that's because the chef didnt cook it into the rom.
The solution for missing Task Manger Setting:
if there is no Task Manager setting, then you need to download Touch X Taskmanager.cab, install, use resco explorer to search TaskManagerApp.exe in Windows (in my wm6.1,the shortcut dont appear in Startup menu),open it,and in Buttons, enable end programs by tapping "X".
Need to reset to take effect.
Touch X Taskmanager.cab can be downloaded in this thread:

Thanks, mine disappeared too, have no idea how? lol.
Works now!

not sure the M2.1 is the same with M2.5, in M2.5,
Start -> Settings -> System -> Task Manager, switch to the 'Button' tab, choose 'Enable the X button to end running programs', select the 1st one 'Eng programs by tapping X'
enjoy

I don't know anything about the ROM you are using but if it's based on WM 6.5 then this X button setting might not exist anymore. Try out AMeBa!
Try searching for your answer.

thanks for the answers, they are useful also for me. In fact I had installed task manager (Duttys), because it was not included in Sense 2.5, but I did not know that with task manager it was possible set the X button to close apps
Wisbar Advance will do the trick.
Ameba and Ameba Settings will be just fine
you can also set longpress on startbutton launching WM TaskManager (/windows/taskmgr.exe)
thanks guys
I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to be ale to reprogram the physical windows button on the HD2 so that if you hold it down for 2+ seconds it will bring up a screen with a list of all the programs that are open so you can quickly switch from one open app to the next from where ever I am. Holding down the windows key can bring up the Task Manager or some other screen that shows everything that is open.
Is this possible?? Can anyone tell me how I can do this?

Try the "Touch X longpress sendkey alt tab" cab.
Try also onscreen gestures to switch between apps or to launch a taskmanager: LMT
