Trying to install and run the new skype which allows calls over wifi. after trying to install it, it reboots my phone. once my phone reboots, the app is there and i open it and can sign in. but then once i hit call, or my info, or anything it just force closes. can't get it to work and don't know why
i tried going back to skype mobile for verizon and now that's doing the same thing...any ideas why?

I have scoured hte forums and seen nothign seeing as wm6 is so new. I also read that they didn't have the requires framework for voip in wm6 (or the release otu so far atleast). Is this true? Reason im askign is i instlled skype to give it a (long) shot since i was bored out of my mind, and when i go to load it tells me not everythign is there, pelase reinstall. This is with 2.2 mobile for smartphones off the site
Thanks

Well i foudn teh 2.2 beta which loads and so on. I tested it with regular calls (not to a land line, jsut using skype to skype) It works and then freezes up adn drops the conenction.. It works for a few seonds at first though, tried with a friends CPu to my 750.
ANy ideas about getting it to work fully? kinda of works.. then dies
thanks!
Skype 2.0
I had the same problem as you did.
Do a search for Skype 2.0 as 2.2 doesn't seem to work very well.
After installing 2.0 skype work well for me now.
Skype 2.2 beta works good for me. But the official release 2.2 crashs when i attempt to make a call.
hurm, maybe i have bad luck then... when ever i call, or recieve one (cpu to phone so far) it works for a few seconds, then locks up fo ra bit and disconnects the call, every time i've tried. Tried with 2.0 and 2.2 beta.. any ideas at all?

I bet that you don't have a yahoo plus account. Not like Apple, Android do not contract with Yahoo then Yahoo mail in android support pop3 yahoo only.
i ran 4.0 for a while and loved it so tried 4.9 since its more similar than 4.5
aside from things mentioned already
horrible boot loop problem
wasn't just taking longer than usual as the build usually does, don't know if its because of the apps i install or what, but i let it sit for 30min and still wasn't booting. had to wipe twice today because of it.

Sync email for the gmail app isnt working...none of my emails are being pushed to my phone
Paid apps cannot install
Home screen doesnt have a landscape layout.
Sorry if these have already been said...
The main problems when flashed to 4.9 aside from the previous posts is that I've been getting a constant error after every phone call i make.
I've encountered the following
- phone freezes when blutooth is enabled
- phone crashes after a call, since it crashes after a call it doesn't save any recent call
- if I scroll thru my contacts it does not display the Alphabet letters just "a"
- symbols like "_ - ( " on the qwerky kb are mixed up
- auto rotate doesn't rotate when I want it to. if I shake up the phone if sometimes kicks in, but it does work for the browser without a hitch.
- no paid apps, even ones I've purchased
- weatherbug doesn't work
what else....oh yeah, I had gloss suite b4 I flashed to build 4.9 and my calculator still has the gloss suite skin. I love this build can't wait for the final.
*phone app crashes/losses service after calls
-doesn't store recent calls
issues
Call log not showing anything
Error after each call
I keep losing reception
Emails
Forclosing andriod process
All ive noticed but still good work
Minor Error(s)
1. Scrolling through contacts using scroll bar only displays "a,o,d,F"
2. No option for "search" once in browser. (Not sure if issue or build design)
3. TBA
4. TBA
Esnapz, did you do a wipe? It might help with many problems.
MMS works great. Not sure about problem in gmail...didn't check yet. plus If you all haven't, check out the HTC email app, it works and looks sweet. LOVE that I can rotate the screen in all 4 directions. He already said you might have to rotate twice bc it does get stuck sometimes. I don't use Bluetooth, but from everyone else it seems like it wouldn't work if I did. Hmm...what else?

I did, before flashing to 4.9. Since my post I flashed back to rc33 because I missed a call which caused the phone to crash so it never saved the missed call
Tested BT with Microsoft SYNC in my car... Paired great
but when enabled the stereo option in the car the phone crashed.
Aside from the previous posts I've also noticed that my ringdroid app doesn't work and force closes as soon as I try to open it.

Majority of 3rd party apps from market aren't compatiable with the htc cupcake build so therefore there having force closes which sucks
oh ok now I understand why 4.5 works with ringdroid and everything, I guess I'll just stick to my less aesthetically-pleasing-yet-more-stable 4.5 build. lol
I am using the newest one 1.5.x. But it hangs on my x10 all the time, I have to force close all the time when I try to dial or received sip call.
Any one got sipdroid working on your x10, please let me know the version number...
Thanks

Hi, I'm using 1.5.2 beta from the market and its working ok so far. Sometimes however it does hang and causes the Dialer to force close. Only a reboot recovers from that. But I since I migrated from pbxes.org to sipsorcery, the problem hasnt happened that often.
What exactly do you experience while using sipdroid? what sip provider are you using?

I think I spoke too soon, tried using sipdroid yesterday and it started acting up on me.
The Dialer stops responding, I can't open contacts etc. Only a reboot sorts it out. As I said, I was using sipsorcery as the sip provider, so I checked the logs there, there were multiple registrations originating from my phone, but I guess every time I rebooted, sipdroid didnt get a chance to un-register them. Moreover even if I tried to exit out of sipdroid the registration stays.
I think something weird is going on. Any hints or suggestions anyone?
Please share your experiences using sipdroid on the X10

same problem on my x10a. switched back to sipdroid 1.3.x and so far so working. will report again if it crashes again.
my biggest hope is to get android ROM on x10 in the near future. really not a big fan of the SE modded crap.

worked for the last 24hrs.
actually found that if you installed 1.3.x and update to 1.5.x it still works. still need time to say if this is consistently true.

Support On Android Phones Is Getting Slower And Slower Than Normal From Skype.
Some Say Because of MS it is giving releases to Windows Phone's first and then Androids. Who Knows? Maybe, they can't be bothered unless it becomes mainstream like the Sensation.
Anyway, if you need Video Calls desperately - then there is only 1 tested way.
Tango. This App will do the job over WiFi for definite according to some users down at AndroidForums.com.
Download It Now From Market. Type In Google: 'Tango Voice & Video Calls' (First Link)
My skype doesn't keep logged in if skype is running in the background and I open other apps, when I go back to skype after being using other apps I have to log in again, so my skype was closed. I wonder if android closes it when manages the ram or if it's a skype's bug. Do you have the same issue? Is there anyway to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
edit to say that I have the stock rom 2.3.5 and S-ON
Any solution?
Everybody's skype keeps loogged on even being on the background?
no solution
my skype sometimes closes, too, but it's not often. I don't mind it, because i don't have any solution.
