Hello my fellow Android Brothers/ Sisters! (If i am posting this in the wrong place, please forgive me) lol
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and say Hello to all the Great + Geniuses here. I am a proud owner of the Samsung Captivate for 3 months now, as well as I am new to the Android OS. I must say, this phone is a phone in which only Gods speak of....lol. I would also like to Thank ALL the Devs for their hard work, donations coming soon
Att has been my primary provider for years now. So far....eh....lol.
More importantly, I have only managed to root + lag fix my little cappy, nothing major. After hours + days+ of reading online (forums / google) about the OS, etc., i decided to go for it (2 months) mind you. Anyways, I am looking forward to experiencing more with this pure awesomeness. As reminder, I am a bit of a Noob starting off .....did i say that out loud....FML. Thanks for your time everyone!
TO ANDROID!

Hi All,
Just a note to say Thanks A Million!
The hard work of the developers have turned a nice piece of hardware into pleasant and fun tablet.
I do hope that you continue your excellent work, and that Viewsonic gets their act together. Or maybe they just release hardware and let the community do with it what they will.
Thanks again!
Agreed.
This would be a crap device if it weren't for the developers here. Upon my initial power up I got at least 15 force close messages and couldn't even connect to WiFi to perform a system update. Two hours later, thanks to the tools/info available via this forum I was happily running a custom ROM and downloading apps from the marketplace.
Gotta agree. The difference between owning a brick and owning a great machine is XDA developers and this forum. Is there another example of a new piece of hardware being rescued from Glitch Oblivion like the G-Tablet?
Thanks again!
I just ordered my G Tab today! By week's end I should be ready to do some hacking. I have done it plenty of times on my Droid so I'm pretty sure it will be a breeze with this device. Thanks devs!
I just got around to turning mine on this weekend, and I agree. I can see why so many people returned this thing. Out of the box, I would have. Thank goodness, I knew about xda-developers from when I got my Android phone.
I spent a little over an hour, and while there are still things I want to do, and still little quirks here and there, I am really enjoying this device (Vegan ROM), and am excited to play with it some more.
Thanks for everyone here for making this thing worth the money (especially now that I see the cost of the Xoom!)
I thought my Gtab was cool from the start 0_o but yeah the reason why I bought it was XDA I read that it was easily rooted . Plus look at the Xoom 800 bucks.. Really?
Have to second that!
My experience has been the same. Bought my G at the end of November after seeing it at Staples. The stock UI really was uninspiring, but in my experience with it, it was rock steady. I stayed stock until this weekend when I flashed TntLite 4.2.2 - man, what a difference that made! The G changed from bland and mildly disappointing to a quick and flexible piece of equipment.
My thanks to the devs for their work. I've lurked here for about two months attempting to pick up on installation tips and general impressions of the different ROMs. I'd say it has paid off because my install went easily; I was able to handle the google framework force closes after a quick search through the forum.
After a time with Tnt, I'll likely give Vegan a go!
Thanks again to all who develop, mod, and share their experiences here.
Thanks echoed and put my order in today...
Just wanted to say thanks (in advance) for all the great support the developers have given the community. I've been ogling tablets for a while now, looking for a replacement for my Archos 5 IT (which I still love and will still be giving gym treadmill duty). Really looking forward to more screen real estate!
This forum is what led me to put my order in today...without it, I'd probably have missed out on a sleeper hit.
Will likely be acquiring a dock shortly as well...just for the complete solution.
Everyone here, especially the developers, have basically helped revive the G-Tablet and make it a sexy beast! Keep on modding guys!
Many Props to the DEVS!
Yeah, the only reason I bought my GTAB was because a custom ROM already existed so could swap out the crappy stock TNT with VEGAn.
I've tried out all the roms available for this device and decided VEGAn would be my daily driver.
BIG THANKS TO:
GOJIMI, BEKIT, SCEPTERR, BITTRIX, ROTHNIC and ROEBEET for the Awesome sauce!
You guys RUMBA ROCK!!
Hello, everyone. I've followed xda for a couple years now, since I got my G1/Dream right after it released. I never really had any questions to ask because everything was laid out well and I know how to use a search feature lol. Now I am a programming student and hoping maybe there will be something I can do to contribute. I guess it's up to me to get my hands dirty so to speak and learn more about these phones than just knowing how to load a custom rom. My hat's off to the devs, you guys have done a great job with making our phones what they could be as opposed to what they were when we bought them.
Hi all,
So this is my make my phone awesome thread.
But my way...
What it is is this:
I have been reading here and there on this forum and I'm finding it difficult to see the wood through the trees.
I've flashed a couple roms and read a lot..... but...... I'm missing something.
I find I'm more and more intrigued and want to learn more, this is what brought me here in the first place but I'm missing some of the basics I think.
I'm 33, I have no real programming experience, I have worked in It for some years, built a website or two (Joomla is great) and I have a knack with computers and technology.
So is anyone out there interested in taking in taking this on? I need a friendly, but not necessarily short and green, Joda to show me the way's of the force so to say..... either that or the question to the answer 42.....
What I can promise is that I will put as much effort in to this as I can however I do have a full time job a wife and two kids.
The arsenal I have to play with is an:
HTC Wildfire (very much expendable) (running Cyanogen mod7)
HTC Desire HD (also expendable as long as this or either the wildfire lives to fight another day if required) (sock)
Samsung Galaxy SIII (in no way expendable.... but possibly replaceable at some point...) (leaked Samsung 4.2.1)
So now it's up to you. You can either take it on or tell me to bugger off.......
Right so now I have found this.....
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/where-to-start-full-android-guide-for-beginners/
That's what you get for posting when not sober....
Any way the q is still open but feel free to call me a noob and ask me to cluck off.......
Hey there, I'm Dwappo :3. I've also been on the other android forums (androidforums/Android Central), kinda been active there and while I don't know as much as some people about android devices, I've been in IT for about 4 years (mostly hardware/software troubleshooting, I would like to get into coding but eh, school is first xD). I'm also a forum moderator for a popular game (well, I think PWI is popular xD).
I look forward to having fun (and disaster when my phone starts acting up) with you guys, OH and my current phone is the Virgin Mobile HTC evo 3D (V-4G, all the same xDD).
Nice to meet you all!

Nice to meet ya!
I believe you know already, but be very careful when you flash ROMs and stuff. It wasn't so pleasant experience to hard brick my phone and waiting for a week without a phone! General rule of thumb would be to follow every single instructions by modders word for word, but I learned it the hard way.
I'm also into programming, and I recently joined up in a computer science club in my college as they were planning to develop an Android app.
Anyways, wish ya luck on all things Android (and to myself, lol).

There is already an "Introduction" thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961655
Please post your hellos into that thread. Can you imagine what this forum would look like if every new member opened a thread just to say "hello" :silly::silly:
hey, hopefully im posting this in the right section. im still pretty new to xda as well as the fascinating world of root access, custom recovery's and roms, and such so please let me know if this post is out of place and i apologize ahead of time if it is.
anyways, as for my original reason for posting to the forum, hi everybody ive somewhat recently discovered the possibilities of root access, custom roms and the like. not long ago i was in the market for a new device and came across an offerup post for a galaxy core prime SM-G360T1 (the metro pcs variant) at the price of $35 obo soo, personally never being the biggest samsung supporter i offered $20 n continued looking for another decent LG to hook up to my metro service. long story short they accepted my offer n deals like that shant b ignored so i purchased said core prime n spent the whole night searching through the xda forums to learn all i could.
soo, here i am now the proud owner of my first galaxy device, a rooted SM-G360T1 with a good working touch version of twrp (my preferred choice in custom recoveries) but, as ive come to discover only one very aptly named custom rom exists for this particular galaxy and though i completely respect its creator for all the time & effort he put into releasing the first working pre-rooted, de-bloated custom rom available for the SM-G360T1, i personally decided to stick with the stock rooted firmware and do the de-bloating and such myself.
ok sry about the mindless rambling there i may have gotten a bit carried away. now, as for my point in posting this in the first place. i wouldnt feel right asking others to solve my little issues for me so im not gunna try to pressure anybody into puttin out more roms for the metro core prime. instead, if at all possible i would merely like to meet someone more experienced and well-versed in the art of android development who might b interested in maybe taking me under their wing so that i might get the opportunity to learn the ways of the code and hopefully one day have all the knowledge necessary to develop my own custom roms, or maybe even eventually get myself a couple of apps that i can b proud of onto the play store.
to summarize, i am but a young aspiring software developer will very little knowlege of or experience with code, tho was raised on home built pcs my whole life so i know my way around a desktop pretty well hardware-wise as well as software-wise, im very willing and eager to learn, whilst having already developed through my previous experiences, a healthy fear of bricking yet another phone which has resulted in an increase in the frequency with which i backup my data, as well as a certain acquired hesitation toward attempting any uncertain actions without first doing the appropriate research on the given subject and im hoping to find someone willing to pass some of their vast knowledge down to me whom i can consider to b my teacher, professor, sensai, master, whichever u prefer, and whom i would never hesitate but to thank and give credit for any and all software that i may one day develop as a result of the lessons they had taught me :victory:
aaaanyways, this post turned out a lot longer than i anticipated so, if uve been able to stick it out and make it this far i am both sry for taking up so much of your time, as well as truly grateful to u for having taken said time to hear me out. well, have a wonderful day everybody and i hope to hear from my future sensai soon. until such time i shall b waiting paitiently thnx again for reading
oh and also just wanted to add that if anybody that knows what theyre doing happens to be in the midst of making/porting any new roms for the SM-G360T1 samsung galaxy core prime metro pcs version and needs any help with like testing or wutever let me know, i got a good twrp nandroid backup ready to b restored n just in case of an emergency i still got odin and the rooted kernel that i used to root it in the first place saved onto my pc
