How's VPN Access With Froyo? - Captivate General

Are there any notable improvements with VPN in Froyo?
I have a Samsung Captivate running the latest Cognition ROM (Froyo Beta4).
I need to connect to a CISCO VPN that uses RSA SecurID.
Is it currently possible?
And if so, what are the steps I need to take to make it work?

Anyone a VPN Expert?
Really need help with VPN. Does anyone have the expertise?

[Q] 2.1 custom rom with http proxy for wifi

Hi.
I hope this is in the correct forum but if not please let me know.
Ive a UK milestone, i finally figured out root and using openrecovery last night after about 5 hours,
i tried cyanogenmod but it ate the battery. i only did it so i could use my phone through http proxy in university. is there any 2.1 nandroid backups available that have this feature?
im guessing because its 2.1 it wont eat the battery so fast, even if it was based on 2.01 Id be happy - im even considering changing it for a G1
oh yeah - i tried installing tranparent proxy on my stock rom (from xda i think) but it says my current rom has no iptables
Thanks very much,
JP

[Q] Can I tether to my Droid X?

I wireless tether to my laptop all the time, but the reason I ask if this can be tethered is because I have tried tethering another android cellphone to my wifi connection with no luck (bored, not out of necessity)
I am banking on this and want to make sure it is a possibility.
Thanks
If you install a custom rom from here they all include "ad-hoc" which will allow you to tether to your DX
"If" lol, first order of business tonight, just purchased online for in store pickup
I would never suggest that someone would install a custon rom only that they may install a custom rom
The stock entrenchment pack in in the development forum well add ad hoc support to the stock os plus all the gapps stuff if you want to stay stock.

Droid X can also support infrastructure mode (as opposed to ad-hoc).
I think the built in hotspot app (Pay to Play) supports this.
Also, if you are rooted, WiFi tethering for Root (market) support AP mode in the latest version(s) (2.7) or 3.0

[Q] Installing OpenVPN: ICS on Nexus S 4.0.3 with Matr1x Kernel

Hi,
I have a rooted Nexus with ICS stock 4.0.3 and Matr1x kernel. I have been trying to install OpenVPN but with no luck!
I downloaded the latest OpenVPN Installer from the market, tried different combinations of options but hasn't been successful to get OpenVPN installed into my /system/xbin/openvpn !
Has anyone been able to get OpenVPN running on Nexus with ICS?
Haven't seen OpenVPN in ICS yet. 'Some_Person' has made a thread for OpenVPN working on GB. You might ask if he has a solution working for ICS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102130&highlight=openvpn
I dont have a phone with ICS yet but here is the official ICS release. I can confirm for you that if you have root and the tun module, then you can use openvpn-installer and openvpn-settings to get openvpn running. The goog gave a VPN API, so now you dont need to root your phone or install tun.
you can just use this:
swupdate.openvpn.net/beta-downloads/OpenVPN-RC1.apk
To my knowledge there are no docs on using it yet, but one of the devs mentioned needing to use inline CA for now. Here is a link which explains how to use an inline CA.
