[Q] Can I tether to my Droid X? - G Tablet General

I wireless tether to my laptop all the time, but the reason I ask if this can be tethered is because I have tried tethering another android cellphone to my wifi connection with no luck (bored, not out of necessity)
I am banking on this and want to make sure it is a possibility.
Thanks

If you install a custom rom from here they all include "ad-hoc" which will allow you to tether to your DX

"If" lol, first order of business tonight, just purchased online for in store pickup

I would never suggest that someone would install a custon rom only that they may install a custom rom

The stock entrenchment pack in in the development forum well add ad hoc support to the stock os plus all the gapps stuff if you want to stay stock.

Droid X can also support infrastructure mode (as opposed to ad-hoc).
I think the built in hotspot app (Pay to Play) supports this.
Also, if you are rooted, WiFi tethering for Root (market) support AP mode in the latest version(s) (2.7) or 3.0

[Q] Best rom for HTC pure?

Hi, I have an HTC pure and need to use it to provide internet for my laptop. I have read many threads on here and know I need to flash my phone in order to do so. I'm just not sure which of the many roms I should choose in order to tether? Can anyone tell me which rom would best suit my needs?
since wifi tether is your biggest use for it i would use a very minimal rom such as the one i am using...
the chef has cooked in wifi and usb tethering apps in to the menu

[Q] Custom ROMs on Tablets

Is it possible to install a custom ROM on a tablet that is NOT listed on many of the sites listing customs ROMs for cell phones or on the app ROM Manager list? Is there a way to compare a cell phone ROM (native OS?) with a tablet ROM?
Is there a way to install Android 2.2 (Froyo) on a tablet running 2.1 (Eclair) w/out installing a custom ROM?

You can't install a cell phone rom on a tablet. If you do.. then something bad will happen. You would probably have to wait for the official froyo update for your tablet since you wouldn't want a custom one. If you did, then you could get froyo the unofficial way. And for the cell phone rom.. you would have to be a developer/hacker to modify it (key mapping, resolution, etc.) and customize it to make it able to run on your tablet.
Ugh. Wished I'd have asked two days ago! Wasted hours stumbling around websites. No hope of an official update for the SmartQ T7.
What do you mean, ..."get Froyo the unofficial way"?
Oh, and thanks for saving me more hours and a bricked tablet.

Glad I helped. Anyways by getting it the unofficial way, is to get a custom built rom from a developer, but the bad news is that your device is not a category around here so no developer would publicly make a custom rom for it here.

Newbie to the HTC Sensation 4G

So I have a few questions regarding my new toy...
First off no problem rooting and anything else to do with rooting. My 1 main issue is I would like to use a custom ROM and had no issues getting Revolution installed. My main issue is that being a Bell client in Canada, I would like to use my mobile tv app and using a custom rom, i was having issues connecting to the network but had no other issues with any network.
So, can a custom kernal be put on a stock rooted phone? if so, what is the best choice? also what custom rom can i use to ensure that I can use my tv app. I pay for it, thus would like to use it.
next question...is there a list of what stock apps can be removed either via root explorer or terminal? 1 list would be perfect and I can go from there.
any help would be great!
thank you in advance to those that assist?

[Q] Need help with deciding which ROM to install on xoom

Hello all,
i got Xoom as a gift without it's package - just tablet and power supply, so i do not know which version of Xoom i really have (US, EURO, 3G, 4G, Wifi only...).
Currently, there is HoneyComb 3.1 on it, and i would like to upgrade it to 3.2, but i do not know which version of ROM to use, would definitelly like to avoid bricking the device.
What i know about the device is that Windows recognizes it as MZ601 device, more info is also in attached screenshot.
Now, regarding potential ROM-s, i have an eye on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278214
Can someone tell me based on "MZ601" which device i have (Would presume US Wifi only) and would it be safe to flash either one of the roms stated above?
Many thanks
MJ

I Googled MZ601 and it appears to be a non-U.S. 3G/wifi Xoom. Nice gift!
Make sure you use only files that are made to work with your version of the Xoom.
The Universal Xoom Root method should work fine and you could also flash the Tiamat Moray Rom. I'm not certain if you can go directly from HC 3.1 to Moray 2.2.1, though. Maybe you can find the answer in the Xoom Heaven thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209341
Hmmm, thanks for pointers, will give it a try

[Q] Internet Passthrough / USB Reverse Tethering

Hi,
I have recently upgraded from HTC Desire HD to Galaxy Note and really miss the ability to use my PC's wired internet connection with my phone. I use this in the office and wifi isn't an option.
I am looking for a way to do this.
I have seen a thread on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345 which gives instructions on how to do this but it doesn't work for me. I would simply post the question in the thread but I'm not allowed to.
I think it may be because I'm running the latest ICS for the phone (non-custom ROM and yes I have rooted it ) Android Version 4.0.3 and Kernel 3.0.15. I rooted the phone using this site
I also tried using "USB Reverse Tethering" from the market but it says my kernel isn't supported.
Is there a way to do this with the Galaxy Note?
Thanks.
