Hey Epic 4G users. I just thought I would drop in and let you know about Heimdall, if you haven't already heard of it. Heimdall is open-source, cross-platform flashing software i.e. my Odin replacement.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a Epic 4G so I know very little about it. However, if it uses Odin to flash ROMs like the GT-I9000 or Captivate then you should theoretically be able to flash ROMs onto the EPIC 4G also using Heimdall.
For more information (and download links) please refer to the official Heimdall thread. If you have any questions please post them in the official thread as it's a bit difficult for me to keep track of multiple threads in different subforums.

I just got my infuse 4G yesterday and i have been trying to find the same firmware that is on the Att Samsung Galaxy S2. I have just learned how to use odin, and thats all i know how to get roms on my device.
Can anyone give me a working Samsung galaxy S2 rom that is able to be used on odin.
Currently i have
Firmware: 2.3.3
Gingerbread. UXKG3
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
Baseband: I997RUXKG3
I downloaded this from Rom Manager i think, the phone has a signal but it has no data.
Also everytime i try to install a rom using the ROM MANAGER the screen begins to look like a tv with a whole bunch of colors and it just reboots with no success at.
I ever got to install the 2.3.5 gingerbread for the infuse 4G but keep getting a #*999* email error and i dont know how to fix that.
Can someone point in the right direct step by step
The Infuse can't run Galaxy S2 ROM's. It can run Galaxy S (I9000/Captivate) ROM's using the Hellraiser patch and kernel. There are several ROM's to choose from in the Infuse development section of the forum, including both Infuse ROM's and Galaxy S ROM's already modified to work on the Infuse.

Ok so how about this.
Do you know where i can get a list of roms that work on Odin for the Samsung Infuse 4G, because that seems to be the only way i know how to install roms on the device.
ok to use odin means you cant flash hellraiser. that means if you dont see the firmware in this forum in a .tar you cant use it the way you are describing. basically all the odin roms here are return to stock packages(so far)
however if you flash a voodoo kernel or otherwise get cwm you can use cwm to flash any 2.3.3-2.3.5 rom in the gsm type galaxy s forums (not cdma) as long as you immediately flash the hellraiser package over it,. dont reboot the phone till after both the rom and hellraiser are both flashed!. many of these roms have heavy sgs2 theming. look especially in the captivate, vibrant and i9000 sections. do not flash anything for the i9003, epic, facinate (unless it's telus which is more like a vibrant), mezmerize or other.

I realize this is a new phone, but its relatively cheap price, decent specs and the fact it is on a contract free carrier make for a potentially popular phone.
There are a few threads elsewhere ie:
androidforums Attain 4G - All things Root
There are no specific forums for this device on XDA yet.
Please, please, please let the development begin!
I am willing to use my phone as a test device and assist in whatever way possible. I would like to find a stock img to flash back to if everything fouls up though.
Thank you XDA Devs!
Samsung Galaxy Attain™ 4G LTE (SCH-R920)
Generally
Who sets up a new forum? This is different from the Samsung Galaxy S II Attain on AT&T. (Hence why this thread is here...)
Samsung Galaxy Attain™ 4G LTE (SCH-R920) is on the MetroPCS vendor, with its own issues.
Personally
I've tried compiling tarballz to build a new kernel zImage from opensource.samsung.com (cygwin, Sourcery G++/Bench lite, Odin), flashed the kernel tarball in the PDA section of Odin, notice a red 'KERNEL' verification FAILED, and wouldn't go past SAMSUNG screen; boot loops. New fix to stop exploits?
I'm an idiot, and bricked my phone. It's been bricked for a week now. Need fix plz. OEM ROM?
Is anyone working on this? I've seen maybes, but nothing firm. Don't know my specs, but I assume the same as this page.

(copy/paste, remove space after http)
only one optoin
There is no development underway for the attain. The only option is a pre rooted flash able tar. Someone was able to get their hands on a rooted rom which can be flashed via Odin. There are no custom roms but u will have super user access and full root. Please also be aware there is no clockwork recovery, so no nandroid or flashing zips.
Is the Windmobile of the S-4G available to be flashed to ICS? I've flashed a few phones, just having a hard time figuring out what variant the Windmobile version is and if it's upgradable with cyanogen to a later version, debating about upgrading tomorrow to one.

Try looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552119
Bhundven was able to confirm that the phones are [almost] identical with a few small differences and that flashing ROMs for the 959V should be safe. Again, read the thread for more detailed information.
Pay close attention to this warning though: "If the rom contains bootloaders, please DO NOT flash them until we can confirm there are no bootloader differences."
As FBis251 said later, "TLDR: Don't flash bootloaders if the ROM contains bootloaders. No CWM roms contain bootloaders, a lot of heimdall/odin roms contain bootloaders."

If the phone come with gingerbread installed yes. You just have to be very careful. The bootloaders we have are for the T-mobile version. So if you foul up and need to flash back to stock with bootloaders you are boned. However if you just want to flash a flavor of ics this can be done with the purple link in my signature. That will get you rooted with clockworkmod recovery then just flash one of the flavors of ics.
With all that said search is your friend, this information is posted in this subforum AND the general android forums. Our dev bhundven has a couple threads on how to do this.

I've asked people if they have the stock leaked rom for t959w to PM me, and no one has.
Someone also offered to try flashing t959v bootloaders, but never got back to me. My guess is that either it worked great and he is quietly rockin some rom in the dev forum, or it bricked his device and he didn't know what to do with it.
If someone has a t959w they are replacing, I'd like to try my hand at applying AdamOutler's unbrickable mod and experimenting with bootloaders on that device.
There is also the t959p, which is the telus galaxy s 4g.
This phone is different then the t959v or t959w. It has cg2900 gps, where as we have a-gps and there are a few other differences.
The same goes there. If someone has a t959p, I'd like to try the same.
Thanks everyone. I normally search, I was just in a rush as I was getting a new phone this morn and it was between the S 4G or the Q with the slide out keyboard, but it seems no one decided to do anything on the Q, so I went for the S 4G. I'll do lots of reading before I decide to flash or not, I just like having the option.
Hello. I'm new here. I just updated my Samsung Note 2 SGH-I317M with Bell Canada. I now have Android 4.4.2
I don't need instructions on how to root/unlock. I've done it in the past using a program called Odin.
All i need to know is where do i download the correct rom for my phone?
I've looked on this website but i can't seem to find the rom section. Is there a different website that everyone gets their roms?
Please help me.

Samsung-updates, Sammobile...
Most good brand phone roms are here on xda-developers. but if you have chinese phone look them on needrom.com. also there are plenty of roms on 4pda.ru forum (if you know russian).
I don't understand russian or chinese and sam's mobile only has stock roms.
I ended up finding one made by someone called chainfire
Good thing we have smart people who do this, I really hate how cellphone companies install so many junk apps.
It works good. Anyways, Thanks for the replies.
Hi I was told to post here since its more active than the Epic 4G Touch forum or the xda Assist forum. So I am trying here for help for my brother.
My brother is looking to repartition his phone to use all 16gb space for apps and not just the data and have 2gb for apps like is default. I havent been able to find a 16gb PIT file for his specific version of phone though, just a similar phone. I have googled for a method to retrieve the partition information off of his phone too so if theres a way to edit that that would work too. I have found the PIT Magic app on here but I am just too confused right now as to what I would change.
His phone is the Virgin Mobile specific version of the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch aka SPH-D710VMUB So I am wondering would a similar phones PIT file work like if it was for the Sprint version, the SPH-D710? Or maybe even an S3 variant phone PIT file, which im doubting though.
He is currently running Stock Jellybean 4.1.2 but rooted.
I did post in the Epic 4G Touch General section but it seems not a whole lot of people look there since its an old phone now. Here is the link to that thread if it helps any:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/epic...b-one-t3314047
Any help is appreciated. This is my brothers only real issue with this phone now as he has no real reason to upgrade it.
Since you have asked this here already,

I will close this thread.
