Hey helper,
I am a proud owner of Samsung Galaxy and I rooted my phone. And i am enjoying the features after rooting But...........
My Question and problem is now my Volume + & - button on side of my phone its got totally unusable. Its hardly do its job. So did the service center entertain me or not.
Is there any solution so that I can fool them and get my Volume button changed.
Plz Plz tell me how to make it normal.
By the way the I installed superuser and after Hard reset it is still there. So how to remove it.
You may need to download the stock Rom off of the internet and reflash the entire thing. There are more complicated ways to unrest but there are possibilities of doing more damage that way. May I ask what route you took to root your phone?

I know I am possibly going to make myself an unpopular buzz kill....but "fooling" them into warranty service on your phone after you voided the warranty is dishonest. I myself am guilty of voiding all kinds of warranties, my PC and my phone included. However I know that I assume the responsibility if they end up damaged.
If you are not ready to assume the responsibility, then modding may not be for you.

First of all, I would like to thank the owners of this forum for providing such a great resource for simpletons like me to use. While in real life I'm an Air Force officer, when it comes to Android rooting/modifications/etc. I know close to nothing.
Before I begin, I would like to let you all know that I HAVE searched Google and this forum for answers to my problem. While I have found solutions that look promising, I am still not comfortable with them as many of these threads are from the September/October timeframe (i.e. they're OLD!)
Here is my situation:
I bought/rooted my phone back in September. I can't remember exactly how I did it, but it WAS through USB debugging mode and a command prompt on my PC. I believe I downloaded a series of Motorola drivers, etc. but my memory is hazy at best. I successfully rooted my phone (got the little Superuser Ninja listed under my applications) and apps that required root all worked. I never put any custom themes/images/etc. on my phone - I only used it for Wireless Tether.
Shortly after rooting I was having Star Wars envy and put the custom bootscreen and sounds on my phone from the R2D2 Droid 2.
Then.. everything was fine for several months. I accepted the OTA update from Verizon sometime in October? and I am running version 2.3.2.. with my phone still rooted.
Now, here's my problem:
My microphone AND external speaker have both stopped working on my phone two days ago and I need to return it to Verizon under its warranty. I understand that Verizon will NOT accept my phone if it is rooted and if tampering is evident (i.e. custom bootscreen).
My question is this:
What is the easiest/simplest way to unroot my phone and return it to the stock bootscreen and sound files? I don't want a Verizon technician looking at my phone and saying, "What is this?"
While rooting my phone has nothing to do with the hardware.. I know they'll look for ANY reason to deny my warranty claim. The fact that my external speaker and external microphone have died on this phone are HARDWARE issues that Motorola should be liable for.. and in its current state my phone is unusable for making calls (nobody can hear me) and I need a new one.
I hope someone in this forum can point me in the direction of the proper solution.
Again, I'm sorry for posting a question to a problem where there already may be an answer.. but I don't want to take any chances.
Thank you.
btw I CAN make calls.. but I have to use a bluetooth headset!
Excellent question. If one can do, one ought to be able to undo.
Boot into recovery (google the button combo, it should include the power button and some other button(s)) and then use the speaker buttons on the side to navigate to factory reset. This will return your phone to how it was when you first took it out of the box. Hope this helps

Try holding down the vol+power for more than (30 seconds)
Ive heard that has worked with others.
thanks all for your replays
volume + power => device is not responding
volume + power (30sec) => device does not responding
ADB does NOT see my device .
anyone any other idea because i am in europe and dont want to send it back to the US
Can it be the on/off button itself ? someone else the same problem ?
Hi,
same problem here. - I messed with "partition sd card" in recovery mode. Any ideas?
I've sent it back to change for a new one...
I learned this the hard way. There is a bug in clockwork mod 3.0.2.5 that bricks your device if you partition the device using it. I bricked my xoom and had to mail it in too.
So: DO NOT PARTITION THE DEVICE IN CWM 3.0.2.5!
Add me to list, wish that I would read this thread before messing around with CWM. So does Motorola repair or replace the Xoom? Is there any cost to this procedure? I'm waiting for Motorola to ship me the box to ship the Xoom in for repair.
This is exactly what happened to me, anyone know of a fix yet?
wow, this should be stickied here and general.
There is no fix. I am assuming that you formatted/partitioned the nand on the xoom itself. If you did that......you're sol I would assume.

I have heard that going into the xoom and disconnect/reconnect battery may work. Anyone else think thats a good idea?
Go buy another Xoom and don't do stupid things to it.

I too would like to get a better understanding to the point of your posting?
Yeah unfortunately that seems to be the case -- SOL
Anything asking to partition, format, etc, is usually a red flag for myself. I remember when it asked me to format my Storage Device when I connected it to my laptop while I had Tiamat on my Xoom. My immediate thought, 'Oh hell no I won't!', was WORSE CASE SCENARIO so I immediately clicked NO and moved on.
Doing stuff to your device is risky business... sometimes its best to let your gut instinct steer you away from certain things Sorry mate and good luck! I'm sure Moto will fix you up

If after reading my response you still don't understand my point, I welcome private messages where I will be happy to share with you my philosophy.
You assume all risks and responsibility when you decide to remove the factory installed software from your device and install modified 3rd party software. If one of those risks involves bricking your device and rendering it useless then it's your fault and not the manufacturers. Sending one off to be replaced under warranty is akin to theft. THEREFORE: My advice if you do not know what the hell you are doing to the point of bricking your Xoom's is to quit trying to modify them.
With all that said, I feel bad for someone whos ruined a $600 dollar peice of equipment but nobody is forcing you to play with fire.

You will be a senior member too eventually, it's based on the number of posts. Not all "senior members" share your love and interest for rooting and running custom software. I am not against it either however I am against people taking their own risks and then asking someone else to be responsible for them.
I wouldn't modify my cars engine to run corn syrup, fill it with corn syrup, have my car not start and then call them for a warranty repair. Get it?
So you guys don't think I'm a complete hater, I've left a post in the official Motorola forums asking what someone should do if they've bricked their unit and will Motorola repair it under warranty. I'll get back to you with results.
my phones power/usb port is broken, i still have manufactures warranty, should i send it in to be fixed? and what should i do to it before i send it in, what steps should i take and how do i do that, dont worry im not an idiot you wont be wasting your time if you help me, i catch on quickly, my phone is S-off and fully rooted, with a custom ROM installed i know i probably shouldent send it in like that, where should i start, is there a better alternative to sending it in? by the way i do pay for mobile insurance thru AT&T, all help is greatly appreciated, thank you very much

There are good number of threads out there that can help you, I recommend searching. In short, any time you're going to send your phone in to AT&T, it's a good idea to unroot and install a stock RUU. I'm not 100% on the rules or whatever, but rooting voids warranty and if AT&T sees it they may reject your warranty claim, assuming you go the route to send it in. Search for Gene's tool to unroot, or use the AAHK (I believe there is a step in there to unroot). I've used Gene's tool and I know it works fine.
The only alternative I can think of is taking it to a 3rd party to have it fixed. You probably won't have to unroot then but if you're paying for insurance you might as well use it and not pay out of pocket..unless of course the fix would be relatively cheap but honestly can't see that being the case. Hope that helps!
If the phone is under manufacters warranty then spend the $5 for shipping to have to sent to the HTC department address they give you. Its much cheaper and a better route to go than yo have ATT charge you $150 for the phone insurance coverage. I had to send mine in. I unrooted it and put it back to complete stock. That was all I needed to do. Because they never said my warranty was voided when they received my phone upon looking at it and testing it, or whatever they do.
So just unroot and return to complete stock and you'll be fine.

will i be able to unroot and flash stock RUU without hooking up to my pc via USB?

My S-ON tool will work without USB. Just get it on your SD card somehow (via adapter, or download from phone):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208507
I talked to ATT today and they gave me the number for the warranty replacement hotline. I've noticed that my phone has become increasingly hard to turn on via the power button (Its become slightly recessed), the battery door doesn't fit onto the phone, making the top volume key hard to press, and the vibration feels as if something has become lose inside the device.
My question is, what if when the manufacturers test the device, they decide that nothing was initially wrong. Will I get some sort of weird bill?
My device is completely spotless, minus the details mentioned above.
Hi,
my Nexus S broke a few days ago. The Power Button is not responding by any press and makes the phone a bit tricky to use for me. The bad thing is that I bought the phone used, so I don't have the bill.
So I called the Samsung Support and they told me that my specific device has warranty by Samsung left. They also told me they'll fix my phone for free if I'm not responsible for the broken power button.
My problem is that my phone is unlocked and rooted. Do I need to relock and unroot it before I send my Nexus away? I really dont want to pay the reparation!
Try flashing different rom and kernel. This has shown to solve this issue sometimes. Otherwise I'd lock it and unroot to be sure.

Hey guys,
This is my first post, but I have lurked here for a long time. I just have a huge problem I am facing now, and need your input.
Last October, I bought a new LG Optimus G E973 at Bell, in replacement of my (dreaded) iPhone in favor of an android device (customization, developing, etc).
I never really had any issues with it till the other day. The battery died in it, and when I went home to charge it...nothing happened. No blinking red light at the top, no LG logo, nothing at all, literally.
Now I went to Bell and my phone is covered under my Manufacturer Warranty. Only one problem...I have a custom rom and recovery on it. Cyanogenmod, and TWRP.
I am debating on whether or not to send it in to them, because I have tried everything to get it to do ANYTHING, but it just wont...switched chargers, tried to connect to pc, mac, etc.
So I am wondering if I cant turn it on, they wont be able to either, and thus just send me a new phone. Or, they will fix it, turn it on and show that it had CGM and a non-stock recovery, and then maybe charge me for the repair? Or should I just go to a tech and pay however much eh wants foor me to fix it...
I really hope I can send it in to them..as I am quite broke right now, and cannot afford to pay a technician to fix it. I knew that installing CGM and a custom Recovery would void my warranty, and I am not saying that I was clueless to thuis. But do you guys think I have a chance in hell to get it replaced?
Any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Gor.
They wont just fix your phone and ask you for money... they will let you know what it's gonna charge you and then do furthur process..
U can very easily claim that u r under warranty and no notification were given to you about the cost...
Anyways... have you tried different battery?
Let me know

Hey, thanks for responding.
Im not quite following you on the whole warranty thing, but I haven no new battery to trry in it. I am under warranty, im just concerned if they will not process it because of the phones software. But is it possible they might just send me a new phone?
