[Q] LG Eve - No touchscreen :( - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

First off, this isnt a repair request or anything similar,
I am running 1.5 r00ted and unfortunately it was last used in mass storage, not debug mode. How can I get my data off the phone using ADB?
Remember, I have no touchscreen, so I guess this will have to be done in fastboot mode or something similar. Any help would be much appreciated
I cannot navigate to the settings from the homescreen using the keyboard as I have an unlock pattern...
Mark.
PS Please help! As the the man from Virgin is coming to get the phone!

You can create a nandroid dump, I can't post links yet but google for "zacpod nandroid". That will get you a full system dump of your stuff.
The awesomeness of the droid, is that everything is stored in readable sqlite3 databases. They are mostly found under /data/ directory, for example, /data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/... contains your contacts stuff ... the data directory should be available in the userdata.img from the nandroid backup.
Hope this answer was quick enough :s

[Ultimate How To] Coby Kyros MID7127

Review:
This is just your basic review of the Coby Kyros MID7127. I did test some video chatting apps. Skype did voice chat but not video. With Tango it requires a phone number and Google+ didn't have any kind of video/audio chat options I could find. Hope it hits everything you'd be looking for.
Rooting:
In this video I'm going to show you how to Root your new Coby Kyros MID7127 thanks to CLShortFuse over at XDA and his SuperOneClick Root Tool. CLShortFuse's work can be found here - [APP]SuperOneClick v2.3.1 - Automatic Driver Installation! - xda-developers
You'll need to download SuperOneClick V2.3.2
Android Market:
In this video I'm going to show you how to get the Android Market up and running.
You'll need to download and un-zip this file - Android Market - MID7127.zip
ClockWorkMod V4.0.1.5:
In this video I show you how to install ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) on your Coby Kyros MID7127.
YOU MUST HAVE USB DEBUGGING SELECTED FOR ADB REBOOT RECOVERY TO WORK!
Download this - update.zip - and put it in the root of your sdcard. (sdcard/tflash)
Recovery.img's for flashing via Fastboot only:

Kyros 7127 help
OK, so I rooted my hubby's Kyros, and installed the market (via your videos) . I was not sure if I should add the clockwork mod recovery. I now see there are two versions posted, I assume I use the most recent...is this a one click method? Also, I am running into a couple problems...I was able to get around the issue of Netflix (went to the Amazon market), however, I did run into the problem of "not compatible with your device" when trying to download various apps from GMP. The other issue I'm having is while the device is sleeping, it keeps flashes to the lockscreen, on and off every minute. Any solution for this problem? Thanks for all your help
clockworkmod worked great on my coby kyros 7125,
I tried the adb commands, but kept getting the reply : not found
su
#
flash_imagerecovery/sdcard/recovery.img
then I got this reply
flash_imagerecovery/sdcard/recovery.img : not found
I tried it on my 7120 as well, same reply, I did the linux command ls
the recovery.img is under the sdcard directory what am I doing wrong?
I tried the update.zip method on my 7120 but the update would not install it would abort when it was all most finished
any suggestions
if your using adb on your computer to flash recovery use
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
the recovery.img needs to be in the root of your platform-tools folder for it to work.
before doing that you can try
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
this will show whether your adb is hooked up right and your in fastboot mode
i tried it and got this response
C:\Users\user>cd\android-sdk-windows\tools
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb shell
$ su
su
# fastboot flash_recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash_recovery recovery.img
fastboot: not found
# fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot reboot-bootloader

I got Market installed but many apps say on their Market page that they're not compatible. Is there a way to edit build.prop or something to fool Market into thinking this is another tablet?
What is fastboot?
Please help!
I downloaded android onto my kyros and it says that setup wizard has stopped unexpectedly and now it keeps doing it so I have no access to it. Help? anybody?
if needed you can contact me at [email protected]
Bricked mid7127 Coby Kyros, really messed up ..can this be fixed.
Alright So I ended up bricking my 7127 while attempting to copy the /system/apps/ over to sdcard thinking i was real smart... This went into force close spam, ultimately I restarted Tablet and Of course now it's stuck at the android start up.
Using some of the unbrick videos i managed to do some stuff with CWM and what not but this is where i went entirely wrong..
I ended up clicking "wipe date / factory reset" in the stock recovery menu.
So now when i try using adb or fastboot my PC cannot find the device at all and therefor I cannot flash any recovery images or anything else I'd need to do to unbrick.
Oh yeah.. did i mention that I never did a backup image either?
What can I Do at this point? OMG.. out of all things this is my girlfriends tablet she just baught..she's going to kill me lol.. I'd absolutely appreciate some help here BIG TIME!!
it can't be said enough, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP.
since you didn't make a backup, i don't know of anything you can do.
Can you get into fastboot mode? (Vol- and Power). If so, when you plug your tablet into your computer in fastboot mode, does your tablet make a noise like it sees something?
if yes to both of those, you would have been able to get out of this with a backup.
I just got this MID7127 and I did rooting, android market and I did what you did on the video with "update.zip".
All went fine, but I got two questions:
1. On tutorial with "update.zip" I did that update, but question is do I need to create some backup while there on that dos like menu?
2. When I connect MID7127 to my PC - is there a way to browse it and paste files on it?
Thanks
PS
I tried few "need for speed" games and they seem to run, but everything is white, cars, road, buildings... - is there a fix?
1) yes, make a backup. if anything were to ever go wrong, it'll save you.
2) yes, when you connect your tablet to pc, you'll see a usb symbol on your menu. pull down and click it.
as far as NFS goes, i'll try it and see what i get. i haven't played with it before
Thanks for reply man, I did a quickboot as you explained on the video and I did a backup
There was one line that said something like:
"No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage"
and then after couple lines or so:
"No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext."
I did put quite a few games and apps and moved most to sd using "Link2sd", so I if I am understanding above line correctly apps installed on SD were not backed up.
Where is this file backed up as I will go delete it, move all apps to device, create backup and then move all back to SD. If I am correct in this then I will have whole thing backed up in case I ever need to restore it and then I can use "Link2sd" to move things to SD.
What was that line about "sd-ext"
Thank you for help
i'm guessing you don't have an external micro sd card? you'll need one to make a backup
I have 8Gb micro SD on it.
What did I mess up now?
Hello, I was wondering if I can get some sort of Office program, you know that I can edit and view Office documents, especially Word and Excel and PDF reader for my work??
I plan to buy one for 45 bucks and use it for basic stuff, video, audio, editign and viewing docs as a mentioned before, maybe Facebook, twitter and MSN perhaps. In your opinion as a user of this model, Would it be worth it to buy it to use it for the reasons I described above.
I know they're better out there but money is low for this particular matter right now, So i was thinking get this meanwhile and then sell it, right, after all its 45 bucks

For $45 you can't go wrong with it. It will do all the above, well no msn video chatting though.
You will find all programs if you [email protected]@gle for them and more.
I got one of these for my 7 year old and he is having fun with it. It plays asphalt 5 great, it wont do 6 or any newer games, but its ok for older games and all the stuff you mentioned.
Hope this helps.
Assistance with KTZ site and ROM installation
NEED HELP. I have rooted and installed clockwork already from XDA, not sure if that's the same as the KTZ version.
The KTZ site doesn't allow me to see anything, and I mean ANYTHING. "The topic or post you requested does not exist" is the error I get whenever I click on anything. or you do not have access or permission. Yes, I registered for the forum already. I have to go in circles to find stuff, don't know what's going on.
Also the one ROM I did manage to download keeps giving me installation error any thoughts?

[Q] cannot unlock screen on HTC Explorer

Hi, HTC Explorer: cannot pull the ring from the bottom of the screen to unlock it, I have a new HTC One but I cannot transfer the data as I cannot select HTC Transfer on the Explorer to transfer my data.
The phone was never connected to HTC Sync and the data on it is not backed up, there is an 8gb memory card in it but I'm not sure what is on it.
I have opened the phone up and reseated the screen connector and checked all other connectors, still no joy.
When I power it up it takes ages to boot up to the normal screen.
When the device is on the red light at the top right hand side of the screen is constantly on.
I also have to charge the battery on another HTC phone (Desire S) which the battery fits into - the Explorer takes forever to charge the battery.
I cannot connect it to my PC to Sync it as I would need to accept the connection.
I have diverted the phone to another handset and the Divert indication is visible on the top of the screen, so the phone seems to doing some of its function correctly but not all.
Also the touchscreen buttons at the bottom are not lighting up, so they may not be working either, the cable is properly connected.
please help, I only need to get the HTC Transfer turned on and I'll be able to transfer to the new phone.
I have tried the digitiser touch screen on anoter HTC device and it does respond, would its driver be the problem?
This is what I can think of for now> You need recovery, ESPECIALLY yannou's, for that you'll need to unlock the bootloader (in my sign is link to a tutorial), after installing recovery you can make a backup using volume and power buttons, after that you can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044414 and from backup to get your stuff. You'll also need a card reader, firstly to get recovery on the sd card, secondly to get your backup from it.
And are you sure you didn't get your phone into some kind of liquid thingy, because proximity (red light thingy) sensor shouldn't flash like that
thanks -

Thanks so much, but I cannot find yannou's recovery file and I don't know how to do the process, is there a dummies guide on how to carry out the recovery and the rest of the actions that I need to take?
I really appreciate your reply,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415223 In this tutorial is yannous recovery, you need this till step 3.
But if I was you, I would wait a little bit(at least one more day) maybe somebody will get here with better solution. Also I'm not 100% sure that this will work... so it's better to wait a bit.
Thanks

question
when I am in the Unlock bootloader screen on the device it says the selecting 'yes' will delete all personal files yet jaggyjags tutorial says that it won't, which is correct as the reason that I am doing tihs is to recover the contacts etc from the device?
I am amazed that I have gotten this far, thanks for the help:good:
It shouldn't delete anything! That's why I recommended this.
I just figure out something wright now, If you used stock 2.3.5, Your Contacts should be here(if explicitly havne't stop that manually) www.google.com/contacts/‎ give it a try
didn't have them in Google
I am now at step 3 of the recovery process in the tutorial i have saved the A310E recovery.zip into the android folder on the c drive but when i run recovery.bat with the phone in fastboot and connected to the PC by usb i just get
sending 'recovery' (4728 KB).
OKAY [ 0.864s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: battery low)
finished. total time: 0.873s
what am I doing wrong?
ps: I really appreciate the help
I don't know how correct is that, but it's obvious that it is stating that battery is low, charge it a bit, or if it's battery from desire, put back battery from explorer. Or just try again
Everything looks as it should be.
another question
when I try to 'Place this Superuser.zip file somewhere in the microSD first' it says I can't because it is write protected, should I use another sd card or will in need to use the sd card that has always been in the phone?
What happened with recovery?
Screw the superuser.
reply
I got the superuser loaded and I have now completed a backup on the sd card.
how do I get the data off and how do I put it on the new phone?
Thanks so much
Now you can get your backup from you sd card, at the moment I don't remember what was the name of the backups, it should some zip file larger than 100mb just get that file on the other phone and use this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044414 , if your second phone is not rooted, I'll check out some other description on how to get those contacts
To get to your sd card, from recovery you can get to' mounts and storage menu' and press 'mount usb storage' it won't do nothing on the phone buu now you can brows your sd via pc
"Easyest" way to extract your contacts without root is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370349
reply
I haven't set the new phone up yet so what do I do, I don't want to mess with the new phone as it would void the warranty,
can I set it up as a completely new phone and then transfer the content from the old phones backup?
Well for exactly this what you want to do...... Only thing that I can figure out at the moment is to find somebody with rooted phone, give him the backup to extract contacts from there, and then export them to file. This is not the easyest way, but it's the only way that I can get wright now.
reply
is there any PC programme that I can load the backup contents onto and then sync to my new phone?
No, or I don't know for one, the way is either this> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370349
Either to find somebody with rooted phone, then he can easily (with android manager) extract the contacts in a simple .vcf file, which later you can just load on your new phone, another is to root your new phone and make this by your self, but you stated that you want to keep your warranty(which is really normal thing) so that option is unacceptable. So you are! Find somebody with rooted phone.
Fellas!!! Somebody reading this? Give us some idea, because my ideas came to an end, surely here is somebody that knows more than me in this things, don't be shy, maybe I'm missing something somewhere.
I know 1 software which I used to have specifically for backing up contacts, sms, music n all files.
it is known as "wonder share mobile go for android"
http://www.wondershare.com/android-manager/
install it in pc and it connect ur fone..it will start reading ur mobile
@prabhat228 Damn man, where were you 2 days ago (no hard feelings intended, or something like that, saying it like that on the fun said). @connoga - Just mentioning you to check the thread
haha, thanks a ton mate
btw if u liked that software and anytime you need the full version, jst let me know. I will upload it.

[Q] Motorola Droid Ultra erased...photo recovery possible?

Motorola Droid Ultra Erased....HELP. Thanks to anyone out there who even takes the time to read or reply. I get that my issue is probably petty in this forum but I just want a simple answer of move on it is impossible or you can try this. I am a complete newbie so pardon my lack of knowledge on the topic.
I had my phone locked with a pin. My darling six year old entered the pin however many times it take for it to magically start erasing itself. (BTW this is the second time this has happened and I thought I had safe guarded it from happening again.) I don't care about anything but the photos that I lost. Is there anyway to recover the photos or should I just move on and forget? I have not been using it hoping that there was a way to root the phone and recover something but upon reading lots and lots of things I think I am screwed because my phone is version 4.4.4. Can someone confirm or deny.
Thanks again for taking the time to read.
You can try to retrieve your photos using a data recovery program. Search Google for get data back or just do a general search for USB data recovery

I tried that but because the phone is not recognized as a drive on computers there is no way to access the files for data recovery. Even programs that say they can to end up failing and the phone needs to be rooted.

No. I tried to recover the files immediately after it happened. And found out about the USB Mass Storage no longer being an option in Android 4.0 phones thus causing issues for recovery. Everything I read then said the phone would need to be rooted but I am running version 4.4.4 and everything I have seen has said thus far it has not been done.
Can't you just boot the phone up and use it ad a USB device in android. You can clearly see your downloaded files and such without being rooted

I am not following what you are saying. The files were deleted so nothing shows. I need to use a recovery program to gain access to the deleted files but cannot get to them without being able to access the phone as a USB storage device...not a camera or device which is all that is able to be done with MTP/PTP.
unless you backed them up somewhere that's not on your phone then i don't think you can recover them

Yes nothing shows but you want to recover deleted data from your phone. The only way is to mount the phone. So you can mount the phone in android when you transfer music and pictures from computer and phone it shows up as a drive in my computer. You can use data recovery software and run it on that drive. You don't need root since your pictures were not stored in the root of the device

[Completed] Please help me clone internal memory from S4

While tired and drunk I accidentally deleted an entire album instead of just the most recent photo. This album contained pictures and videos of my dog who recently passed. Please help me get them back.
I am trying to clone the internal memory to my pc so I can use Recuva to get the photos back. I have been trying to follow the guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
I have tried to follow it to the best of my abilities but when I run the commands through Cygwin64 Terminal I just get "error: closed" message. I think I have installed the Android SDK, Java DK and drivers correctly (can't be sure since there are outdated links and images in the guide, not to mention so many abbreviations that I have no clue what they mean).
I have a rooted S4 GT-I9505 with android version 4.3. My PC's OS is Win 7. I don't know what other details to include.
Just incase I'm really dumb, when I reboot holding the power, vol up and home buttons it goes into recovery mode, is this the same as the bootloader mode? When I enter adb devices it shows it as sideload, whatever that means.
As you can probably tell, I am not a programmer or dev. If I seem really dim please try to forgive me.
Thank you in advance.
My head is pounding now and I'm going to bed, hopefully when I wake there will be an answer waiting for me.
Thanks again.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
You pointed a nice thread to try to recover your files. You should post in the above thread to get further assistance.
Some people have reported success with DiskDigger though.
Good luck!

Bypassing lock on old ZTE FLASH N9500

Found my old phone from high school. Turned it on and looks like I never factory reset it, and I would love to see all of the photos and messages I left behind, however I can not for the life of me remember the pin I used. Browsed around and tried to delete the gesture.key using ADB but permission is denied, and I wasn't able to find a custom recovery tool for this specific phone either. Anyone have any possible solutions? Thank you

If you cannot remember the PIN, you're most likely going to have to factory reset. There is no way around this that I know of, unfortunately.
you can just dump the whole userdata partition off flash memory in EDL mode, loop mount partition image from linux and modify it's content (like deleting locksettings.db)
Shiiiba said:
Hi there, thanks for responding to my forum post. I can give it a shot, however I was wondering if you would be willing to help me with attempting this. Im familiar with root and devices but I’ve not had any experiencing with dumps or tools like the one you provided on github. I have an extra ZTE Flash to test on but some extra insight would be nice. I also had two questions:
1: can I just take the locksettings.db and somehow retrieve my pin from it instead of modifying and dumping?
2: if I do end up having to dump, will the environment be the same (IE logged in apps, id like to see my message history in apps that are there)
Thanks so much, and sorry for disturbing.

you need a firehose programmer matching your SoC and OEM. the tool comes with collection (loaders) for quite few devices, just give it a try.
1. might be possible with password.key
2. yes by just deleting locksettings.db nothing is changed
