Hello All,
Im new to the Forums I had a question wondering if someone can help. I rooted my nexus one and I have several roms. I used a Windows PC to root my phone and also to download my roms (zipped files), Now I have mac 10.6.1 and I have downloaded some roms then I compress them into zip files. And everytime I try go into recovery and try to unzip the rom that I downloaded from my mac it never takes it. But if I do the same procedure with my PC I can load the rom. Can anyone tell what I am doing wrong.

Hi
I'm attempting to update the ROM on my Jammin phone but can't seem to work out how this is done without access to a windows computer running activesync. I imagine that what I need is the actual cab file which I'd be able to run on the phone. I've downloaded the ROM (JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_shi.exe). But have been unable to extract the CAB file. Could anyone point me in the right direction.
Many thanks in advance.

I don't think you can update the ROM with a Mac at all. All update utility are PC application. The ROM file is not a CAB file therefore you cannot extract as CAB file.
Hi
thanks for the reply. I poked around some more but in the ultimately I believe your right. Disappointed, I installed bootcamp/xp and updated the ROM using widows.
It worked.. but I'm starting to miss my treo 600.
If im using winrar it automatically unzips right? All the roms i download dont actually have a zip file... When I put the files on the sd card and try and load from bootscreen nothing is availible. Thanks for any help. Evo, no roms yet, rooted, rom mananger (tried)
just got burnt rom to work fine... but guess i dont know which link for the most part to download
so i have an hd2. it hasn't been working properly for a few days. lots of freezing. i heard that i can ditch windows and install android. well when i followed the steps to install the files, they always download onto the computer as adobe files. no matter where i downloaded from it did the same thing. can someone help me? i need my phone!
??? thats just wierd.
WHat i expect is probably happening is that your downloads are just fine (mainly zip or 7zip files) but that your file association on your computer is a little screwed up??
You should change the association and i reckon that will sort your problem out
Let me know how you get on.
Hi all, I'm having great difficulty trying to extract anything from the system.img or boot.img files I got from the stock AT&T rom for the Inpsire 4G. I first had tried to unyaffs the files but I realized that HTC does not use this to package their files anymore. Next, I tried to mount in PowerISO, then unrar (both noob attempts, i know). I've read numerous places that I can mount them as a loopback device in linux but I do not a linux box ready to do this with. In fact, I just erased that HDD to install Windows 7 before I wanted to extract these files.
So my question is this: without using virtualbox or a VM or reinstalling Ubuntu again, is there any way I can extract these rom files from their img archives in Windows? I'm thinking NO but if there is anywhere I would get a definitive answer, it's here.
If not, maybe someone could package up these APK's for me? I'm primarily looking for the AT&T Wifi Hotspot apk as I constantly use McDonald's and Starbucks for WIFI and am looking to automatically authenticate the ssid as my bb Torch used to, without the agreement and landing page.
Thank you to all who look at this, and more thanks if you can help me in my endeavor.
Hi All, I am new to this forum and android world. I have a samsung galaxy wifi 5 android device running froyo 2.2.2. This is basically equivlent to IPod Touch (I guess). I am trying to make this device detect ad-hoc wireless connection so that i can connect this with my windows mobile phone. After some research I found that wpa_supplicant file needs to be modified. I have already found the patched and complied zip file here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961. I just need to know how do I flash this file in recovery. So far I have rooted my device, and installed ROM manager. Alos do I need any flash cards? Your help would be much appriciated. Thanks
Same boat here. Google hasn't seemed to help either.
How do you "flash" a zip file in Recovery?
Thanks
First you need ClockWorkMod and know how that phone's version works. Move the zip file that has the new ROM onto your sd card. Boot into ClockWorkMod. Then choose the zip file with ClockWorkMod.
yes google is your friends
but first insall recovery and after use it, choose the downloaded zip file and update your phone with it...
