looking for a calendar app with category icons in month view and useful copy options - General Questions and Answers

What i want is a nice fast calendar software. I need it to display small user definable icon in the month overview. And it would be great if i could copy multiple appointment at once.
Also it would be great if i could define some standard appointments wich i could save and easily create on a selected day.
Is there something like that out there?

TouchFlo: Calendar Tab...?

For the most part, I like TouchFlo. The only thing missing for me is a calendar tab. I realize I can turn on the WM standard calendar plugin on the lower portion of the display, but don't want to give up the space to have it always present. Ideally, there'd be a way to add a calendar tab to the middle and have the appointment info display up top when that particular tab is active. I've searched, but didn't come up with anything. Is there a way?
Is your calender not set to the bottom-left shortcut key (Above green call button) by default ?
Ummm... a 'button' is different than a 'tab'. As stated, I would like a way to quickly refer to upcoming calendar stuff on my Today screen, without launching an application, and other than using the standard WM plugin. Re-read the original post should you require further clarification.
Thanks though...

Your a bit of a tool really aren't you ?
I think he meant the HTC Today Screen Plugin. All these while I thought he meant the touch cube (which I errenously associated with TouchFlo).
Nope... just asking a question, different than the one you were attempting to answer -- but thanks for your input

Request: Frequently Called Widget

I was thinking it's be pretty slick to have a widget that displays your frequent calls on the home screen like the tab inside dialer, something that updates as your calls change, doesn't seem like it would be terribly difficult to code.
does something like this possibly exist already?

I know of a way to create a folder with favorite callers.....but not a widget
in contacts long press on contact place them in favorites.
long press homscreen create a folder pick starred contacts.
I was actually talking about the "frequently callerd" under the favorites. Those are changing all the time, so it'd be slick if you could have a widget that auto updates as well.

How to add favorite shortcuts to Today's items?

I prefer neat screen,so I am not using Touchflo and configuring my desktop thru Settings\Today\Items.However there are only built-in and limited shortcuts available in that section. How can I add in my intended software shortcuts, in order that I can select them by checking the corresponding optional boxes, and make them appear in my Today desktop?
Would anyone like to help? Thanks in advance...
Hi,
If I understand, you want to have shortcuts on today screen. I use this one:

Organizing Apps in folders ?

Hey people, i have been looking under tree and rock to finde some sort of way to organize Apps in to folders, in the main menu. With no luck so far.
I am i just blind and stupid or have Android made the same mistake as apple did with no way of organizing applications (albiet, appels problem is a bit bigger than Android's).
Anything to help me keep my Main Menu Organized ??
Kind Regards

"main menu" being application launcher drawer/cube? Or home screen?
Stock application launcher drawer/cube doesn't have the option, and I fail to see why anyone would need such an option, given that -
1) Home screen supports folders.
2) There are plenty of apps that allow grouping applications in "folders" of some kind (virtual ones) on the home screen.
Your "main menu" is the home screen(s), not the application drawer.
How about 'Apps Organizer' from the market.
- You can set up categories
- Apps can be in multiple categories
- Assign custom or predefined icons to these
- Both widget and shortcut support to put these categories on your home screens
- Fave apps so they stick to the top in the folders
- Optionally have all folders/categories as subfolder from 1 main folder. Now that cleans up everything into a single icon.
It's a lifesaver if you use a ton of apps and want to stay organized imho.
nice apps organizer
for me it has been FolderOrganizer by Fabio Collini for quite some time...
After trying every app organizer I could find I settled on "tag home" to fix this problem. You can create tabs in the launcher, sort the apps by tab, prioritize the items in the tab sort them, have an app under multiple tabs, (easier than remembering if gmail is in internet or communication) and you can shortcut the tags onto the desktop as folders. plus, it's free in the market.
Just my 2 cents, and that's about all my advice is worth....

I am also looking for an efficent solution! But i think we have to wait until apple releases its OS4.0, which will be able to organize apps.
Then suddenly there will be apps developed for android who do the same thing. Its sad, that it has to be this way...

Why would you think that? There was Advanced Launcher for 1.6 that did this, and many home alternatives that do this. It's harder for rosie because it is closed source.
PS. You can make a folder on the home screen for a long time and dump applications into it, just like the magical iPhone can't do yet.

Advanced Launcher doesnt work at all.
Does Rosie mean Sense? (Sorry i just got my first android device)
I didnt find a decend Homescreen replacement that has this feature. Only Tag Home Launcher, but this app slows my phone down (very noticeable!).
The Replacements, which worked fine (for example ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro), didnt have the ability to sort apps in the draer/starmenu...
If you could point me to an working replacement I would be happy!!!
But, coming from windows mobile my experience is: nothing new is developed until apple does it and then sudenly the market is flooded with apps, that do this. ( I was looking for more finger usability since Windows Mobile 2003SE ^^). Of course there are few exceptions...
But please proove me wrong!
About the ability to create folders on the homescreen: I know this ability exists! But in my opinion one big advantage of android is the widgets on the homescreen. I like my homescreen to show me the time, my appointments, the weather...
For launching purpose i would like a simple menu with all my apps (categorizeed, sorted the way i want it )
the way I see it: the iphone has no homescreen it only has a launcher. But soon this launcher will get better than the one from android (now they are equally bad^^) and that is when i think apps will be released to overcome this differnce. But it should be the other way around...
But again: please proove me wrong!

And here is a video showing how apple implemeted it:

its low res, but i am sure there will soon be a better video...
So until I find the perfect solution I'm using the folders created for the on-screen but I'd like to be able to rename the folders. As an Android n00b is that possible?

To change the folder name:
-Open the folder.
-Touch and hold the bar at the top of the folder.
This should give you the "Rename folder" dialog box.
Good luck.

I'm just wondering if someone can elaborate on this a little bit and let us know how to fix this. I don't seem to have the productivity toolbar or haven't found where to select it. Specifically I can't do the handwriting recognition.
Thanks
The first icon enables or disables edit.
Next to this, in fact to the right of it, is a group of 4 icons.
The first is the drawing icon, next is the icon that you're looking for.
By double tapping it you can change between various features including formula, shape and text recognition.
Maybe this is common knowledge but I just discovered today that different templates have different functions embedded in them that apparently aren't available in other templates, e.g. long pressing on the contacts field in the meeting template allows you to bring up your contacts, you can also bring up a change date window in the date field etc.
In the diary you can change the weather icon types, in travel you can open maps app and import a clipping of an area and so on. It's very disappointing that you cannot seem to insert/use these fields in every note. The functions you want don't appear to be in a memo based note but are in others.

Agreed. This seems like quite an oversight on Samsung's part. You should be able to use all of the functionality regardless of the template. This took me a while to figure out until I watched their videos over again and picked up on this.

Same issue here. You have to pick a template to suit what you want to create. Its quite confusing. There also seems to be little documentation about what template has what tool.I can understand the floating note pad not having all tools but everything in the full snote app should have them. Maybe a tools toggle button to turn on and off what you want in the tool bar would make even more sense.
But i still enjoy the device

Hi. Pls let me know if you ever found out if the memo template has the productivity tools icon. I also can't find it.
productivity tools
To reach the handwriting to text, click on the productivity tools twice or hover over the button with your s pen and click once (looks like the shape button) a drop down menu will show up with the handwriting to text on the last options. Hopes this helps :fingers-crossed:
HI all
I have note 10.1 2014, and the snote does not have productivity tool icon in any template I have tried. Can someone help me?
The attached image is what I get in snote:
