Hi everyone,
I have unlocked my Verizon HTC TP2's SIM, and no I am using local Privider. However, i can only connect to GSM. I want to connecct to 3G UMTS.
Please help

I have the same problem, i was flashing diferents radios, but i only get it on the edge network, my provider works on 1900Mhz UMTS and the tp2 works on 2100Mhz. I was wondering that we can get it working with a ''custom'' radio.

No you cant, the radios can be changed but that wont change the MHZ

So you get gsm on 2100MHZ or 900MHZ or 1800 MHZ?
SOrry not filimar with your service provider also did you check if data services are on in comm manager and also if you have 3g in your area?

Yeah I have 3G, i mean I had when I had other phone used to do video calls and stuff like that

sure, but the thing is, when I looked at my friends OEM[i mean factory unlocked] TP2, he has HSDPA bla bla bla tab in his phone settings, but i dont I have only CDMA, GSM bla bla bla... I think this might be a soft problem
anyhow, i will let you know about the frequencies

yah for that you need a custom rom, make sure you read the instructions on how to flash one

I use NRG rom, sorry i'm not a programmer neither do i have my phone now. so i cant help you, but you can look at my post link to roms
Everything works now, i did not put any custom ROMs. I just sent the Phone to GSM mode. then within GSM mode, i selected the GSM -> Band and changed to Auto [it used to be GSM]. thenI started seeing [H] Icon, instead of [G], which I thing stands for HSDPA = 3G =]

Life is the sequence of black and white stripes...
now I have an MMS, and it asks me to download it When I aggree, it says: The whone is switching to GSM mode, do you want to continue downloading, and if I say yes, all Data connection goes down. I am not even able to connect to GPRS. to fix that i have to turn the Phone mode of, and turn it on again, then turn the Data Connection on.
any suggestions?

did it work without 3G? or did it start now? check your connection settings, make sure data is on before opening the MMS

When I go to MMS Options, I can not add the mms settings on the phone because the only setting available is Verizon Wireless's and i can not change it nor add new one any suggestions?

yes i did hard spl and when do re-provision the choise its jus Sprint--Telus--US Cellular--Verizon--Cricket.....there ar not the current name provider in my country example i use network TELKOMSEL in the provision...should i chose Sprint or what???

Set the phone to gsm mode only and try. u could flash the custom radio for gsm devices if you brought olipros unlock

i have try set the phone to gsm mode only but can make a call and send text message if I got the UMTS signal....why this happened????
the phone last 2 week a go is normal.....and this one week is only try seraching to the network GSM for long and got no service if no got UMTS signal.....
I wanna try olipro unlock but i live in indonesia and no have paypal...its very confused me...can anyone help me...????

yes the UMTS its mean 3G/HSDPA on network gsm...in cdma the name is EVDO correct if im wrong......
all i need the last change is try to unlock radio rom but how...i"m in indonesia and not using paypal...

1st buy my phone working on GSM only...its can make a call and send text message....but now only working if i use the band with UMTS only....if i used GSM only the phone like flight mode...cant make a call and send text message...

i have try this its work....but if i'm going to place with not support the 3G/HSDPA area my phone automaticaly change to GSM or Gprs/Edge area....the signal full but it still can't make a call and send text message....i try to change to another SIM card..it still same...any flash file for the GSM modul on GSM/CDMA sprint touch pro 2...i wanna fix for the GSM modul only...it seem the parameter setting or something like that is wrong or change by something......any help with this problem...

If it's a Sprint TP2 and you are security unlocked (using the Olinex unlocker) try using a WWU radio for Sprint I've not had any problems with that, but when using my AT$T sim card, it wants to stay with AT$T/GSM and not switch back to Sprint/CDMA mode
so my last phone was the evo 4g and there was certain things you can do by accessing epst for example by dialing ##3282#
well i wanted to know if there is a way of getting this to work. or if its even possibe.
I have the epst.apk file that i would always use, its from a 2.1 rom.
so far i've tried the temp root then installing root manager and moving the file to system>app>epst.apk and installing it but its not as easy as when the phone is completly rooted.
the attached file is the file i would use with my evo
That's cdma only. Gsm works different. What were you trying to change?

o ok well that makes sense. I really wanted to look at some of the settings, mainly cause the coverage map says i get 3g, but i only get gprs. which is slow like dial-up. but this whole gsm thing is new for me. I've had verizon for years then sprint and thev all been cdma.
You mean apn settings on a gsm phone. Check under settings; wireless and networks; mobile networks; network mode. Check "auto"

Instead of that nonsense you might have better luck locking it on to WCDMA only. It's under that menu or under Mobile Networks

Might be what you are looking for.

But, won't this disable the lower level data if you travel outside the 4G area? Sorry, I am new to GSM and don't know the terminology yet...

Yes it will. You'll get no data connection at all if you lock it to WCDMA and are in a non 3G/4G area.

i hope i put this in the correct forum area.
i have t-mobile as a carrier. i bought two new samsung galaxy ace phones. ace plus and an ace 2. both are the latin models, not the euro models, and have the 850/1900 3g freq, but when i use my tmobile sim, both phones are running on EDGE speed and not 3g. anybody know why and how to get them to run on the 3g, tmobile was a waste of time asking them, no help

U should enable it in settings>mobile networks. U can either put it on 3G, 2G, OR automatic (for the network to chose which is best)

you would think so, but in that area the only options are
network mode....
gsm/wcdma ( auto mode) which is selected
gsm only
wcdma only
and "network operator" , which i search, tmobile comes up and is selected
still on edge speed, i do not see anywhere to select 2g or 3g
any ideas???

Try checking that your Access Point Names are configured properly in your mobile network settings in your settings.
you might have to have net10 provision LTE On your SIM.
Update: I called the customer service and they told me that my area zip code: 54601 is not covered.. but when I go to AT&T website I see the city is fully covered.. do have to call AT&T to activate it for me?

my problem is not solved yet.. i still don't receive 4G and sim supports 4G

go to "phone information"
scroll down and check your preferred network type
if its on WCDMA prefered change it to LTE/GSM and turn on LTE ram dump

What does LTE ram dump do?
Weird, I decided to do some Googling about the matter and I can't find anyone who knows what it does. I suspect that it dumps the contents of the RAM that LTE is using atm. I would leave that off.
You just can't set an apn and get LTE, your account has to specifically be provisioned for it to allow it. With out the provision you're stuck on HSPA

Honestly I don't know either. I tried looking for a post where someone vaguely explains what it does. Couldn't find it. It was a step for enabling LTE on the Nexus 4. Probably best to leave it off like you said.
I contacted the customer support and told me that 4G LTE is enabled on my account .. On AT&T website it says that my city is covered but NET10 representative said my area is not covered
Do you have any other ideas?

Explain more? What do you mean by 3g not working?
The D850 stock firmware has those options locked out so it's on the default of 2g/3g/LTE.
Make sure your APNs are set correctly. Is the phone on AT&T?

Nope, I'm outside the USA, I had D850 before and never had problem switching networks, but I can't seem to enable WCDMA, its only working on GSM network mode.

If you had a D850 stock you where never able to change that.. If you ran a custom ROM then you could had.
How do you know its only working on gsm network mode? What does data icon look like? Does it show E or 4G? Causd AT&T calls 3G 4G

It shows just E, on my previous D850, it used to show H. Now I got it pre rooted from someone and it had WCDMA option available, but when I selected WCDMA, my network signals disappeared so I flashed official Kitkat using ToT and now back to square one

Ok I flashed Cloudy 2.2 and got the options to select network mode but as soon as i select WCDMA or any mode other than GSM, my network signals disappears. Now what?

Well that would only mean that the phone is NOT compatible with 3G in your area/country, Your carrier, OR your APN

By the way I had D850 few months back and 3G worked fine on it, never had this issue. APN is fine, double triple checked everything

Like I said so your 100% sure you had a D850 though? This would rely on your carrier or sim card if the phone was indeed a D850 and worked before.

Yes I'm dead sure man. This is the strangest thing happening first time ever. I just went to hidden menu 3485#*850# and even tried RAT Selection from LTE menu and selected WCDMA or WCDMA/LTE. 3G worked for like 30 secs and then again signals dropped.

That sounds more like an APN or carrier problem if its doing that, That is odd though.
Have you tried calling up your carrier?

Yes I did, they said its fine. I just put my sim in my colleague's cell phone and 3G worked. Lol. This is getting annoying
i had same problem 3g not working on d850
What can i do i had same issue with cloudy 2.5 and all others rom including stock kitkat
When i select wcdm only my signals disappear.i have othe one d850 its work fine.

If you have a stock rooted ROM, the work around to unlock the network selection menu on AT&T D850 is to edit your build.prop file. Under ro.build.target_operator, you want to change AT&T to OPEN.
I have the same problem, when I put the sim in a different phone 3G works but only shows E when I put it back in my D850. I have tried everything around but nothing. When you put the phone on 3G only the network goes off and can't connect until you switch back to gsm/wcdma auto.

Are you sure your carrier supports the bands of the D850?
