[APPS] Must-have apps for android (IMO) - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Touiteur
The BEST twitter client out there IMO (tweetdeck beta is 2nd)
Widgetlocker
Great lockscreen app, can put widgets and apps on your lockscreen
But you'll lose your lock pattern, not a big deal to me tho.
Album Art Grabber
cost like 99c, but worth it. it actually doesn't edit the tags tho, so if you update your rom you have to do it over again.
Meridian Player
hands down, the BEST media player out there. good video player, gestures (next and previous track, skip forward & back), add album art, extensive playlsts, widgets (up to 4x4), also flac support. haven't tested that tho
Astrid Tasks
Excellent task/to do list. reminders, sync with remember the milk, backup/restore, widget
Barcode Scanner
must have for qr codes
Calendar Snooze
gives many more options for snoozing calendar reminders.
Class Buddy Pro
great app for managing semsters, classes, assignments, quizzes, tests, etc. reminders, backup/restore
Coupons
self-explanatory
Extended Controls
easy access to turn data, wifi, bluetooth, gps, autosync, vibrate/silent, on and off. great i fyou want to manage data usage
Data counter widget
shows how much data/wifi you've used for the day
Stats
shows your data, wifi, text message, and call count. not a widget though
Fancy Widget
basically the htc clock/weather widget
Gmail Popup
Kinda like the handcent popup, except for gmail. you can mark as read, star, or go to your inbox.
Go! Chat
Best FB chat app
Ultimate Juice (Juice Defender)
Premium version of juice defender. costs money.
NameBuzz
Vibrates patterns for the syllables of people's names. quite useful for knowing who's texting you. you can even customize the pattern for each contact
SyncMyPix
Syncs your FB friends to your contacts. you can even set a interval to re-sync (daily, weekly, etc). even it misses some, you can match them manually
SMS Backup+
Best app to backup and restore your SMS. backs up to your gmail account, marks them as read and applies the label of "SMS".
Tapatalk (Pro)
Forum app, very useful. search for forums, add favorites
Vlingo Voice
Similar to google voice actions, except better

TiKL
Push-to-talk app. Similar to Nextel radio.

just picked up Vlingo. I've only used it for an hour but I can already tell it's much better than google
Tinyshark
Listen to grooveshark on your phone for free. Requires adobe flash

I find AOL Aim is the best FB chat it takes downloading the AIM for your computer and syncing it with your FB so when you log into AIM app your AIM contacts and FB are on the same list.

Unless the Developer themselves has posted the .apk somewhere, i would really really suggest against pirating this (or any other) android app.
Thank you, I edited original post.

Couldn't agree more. You're saying this app is worthy to be called a "MUST HAVE app for android" but not worth paying $5.00 for? If it's truly that valuable to you then show the dev some love/support and buy it/don't distribute it.

Music mod is hands-down the best music player I've used on my n1

Never heard of it.
I searched on Market for it, and it looks very similar to what Cyanogen provides in his ROMs.

No doubt on those for me
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned ASTRO file manager yet; it's a must have for me. Very powerful with file management, archiving (zip files), backups, etc. You can use it to create apks from your installed apps.
Here are my must haves:
ASTRO

You're right maxh, Astro is a well-apreciated app.
But I prefere the "1 app for 1 thing" mod.
I use Ghost Commander and ConnectBot in local for the rest.
Ghost Commander supports root, zip also and has two screens.
I used Apps Organizer, and recommand it too.

Last heard on the news wires was that the official app is slated for sometime in May with a free 2 week trial of the "Pro" internet service package. (Engadget or some such site I think is where I saw the ref on it.) Still not fancying the whole idea of paying more to listen to Sirius over the internet when I can get a fresher random mix from the likes of Pandora.
Nobody has mentioned beautiful widgets... amazing

sms unread is better for the nexus one, it has an unread widget for call history, sms, and gmail. 1 program 3 different widgets.
yes, but Gmail Unread Count allows you to create unreadcount widgets for multiple Gmail/Google Accounts. SMS Unread Count only allows one Google Account.
They're not big apps. I have both

I like both, I don't think i could live without them. I tried to email the developer and have them create one for the tmobile voicemail, then it would be perfect, but no reply.

[Q] [Android] Best Agenda/Organize/todo-list/Journal/bookmark app

I've always been a confused, badly organized guy, and my head is one big chaotic mess. Since I wont carry a paper agenda all the time, I've recently bought a smartphone (SGS2), mainly to keep things organized and structured.
The problem is, for each task there's a different app. Now I've got a zillion apps, and I wonder if that's the best way to structure/organize things.
I currently use on my android phone:
- Jorte Calender synched with Google Calender.
- Dropbox to sync files between different platforms
- Evernote for my journal/notes/to-do list.
- QuickPic to view my pictures (normal pictures and pictures of paper documents) and video's.
- Opera is my main browser and I use the build-in bookmarker. The bookmarks are synched between my phone and my pc.
- Build in sms/contact Touchwiz app for my contacts
- Gmail app for my mail and mail addresses.
- etc
I want to reduce the number of apps to get things done easier and faster. You guys know any all-in-one apps that are capable of many of the listed tasks? Or could you explain how you structure things?
EDIT: Sometimes I don't even know what app I should use for certain things.
For example: I'd like to make a list with my favorite movies. Should I do this with evernote?
Or: I've got something scheduled and used my calender app for that, but I also need to make a few notes about that appointment. Do I use my calendar, or a notebook app like evernote?
Thanks in advance.
Jochem
What do you guys suggest?
I would just use evernote for everything! Why do you make such a mess with apps? Just get used to ONE app, and you should be fine
There is as of now, no "multi-app" that can do ALL of your tasks. Unfortunatly, I think you'll have to use the apps the way you already are. Unless you want to root your phone, and install a custom ROM that has some sort of "multi-app"

4 Must have Android Apps

Hi guys, there are four Android apps that I would like to recommend to you!
Spotify: Spotify maybe the most popular music streaming services in the past several years. With enormous number of songs, this app enable users not only listen to the songs they like, but also create their own playlist of their favorite songs. In addition, users could also get updated album reviews from large music publications, such as Rolling Stone. As a result, this could improve the customer satisfaction about this app, which makes this app so popular in the market.
Flipboard: Flipboard is my favorite news reading app in Google Play market. With millions of users around the world, Flipboard is probably one of the most popular apps in recent years. I love this app, because it provides a personalized miniature magazine out of everything that I am interested. In addition, I can also create magazines and add more content from websites to my Flipboard, which is quite interesting. Moreover, adding and deleting items on Filpboard are quite easy and I can also share my magazine with my friends on Twitter or Facebook .All these functions make this app stand out from ordinary news reading apps.
MoWeather: MoWeather is the app of the year in my Galaxy S3. MoWeather is both pretty and functional. The app background is not only beautiful but also animated, which I believe is much better than Yahoo Weather. The 15-day-forecast could help people plan their holidays or business traveling a lot easier. In addition, the real-time photos shared by people around the world could also provide timely weather condition in those places. As a result, this has changed the way that people using a weather app, which makes this app more popular.
Evernote: I use Evernote to synchronize notes of all kinds, such as voice memos, pictures and PDF files. The app is amazing, all the notes are not only accessible from Evernote applications and website, but also highly searchable and tagable. The new version of Evernote improved the navigation function of this app, which enables app users to access recent notes, tags, and shortcuts quickly. I will refer to Evernote, every time when I want to take a note or search for documents that I need. I put Evernote in my dock and it has become one of the most popular apps in my Galaxy S3.
How do you guys think those apps, looking forward to your comments!
What's the point in suggesting 3 very popular apps and a non popular weather app?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 4
Please use the existing thread to discuss, review and share apps. Thanks!

Apps you need on Android?

Hi guys, I want you to tell me what are the apps you recommend having on Android, I think I'm missing a lot of them thats why I create this thread.
Everything, from security to customization.
Twitter or WeChat
some Weather app
Netease Cloud Music
some Navigator app
S Health
amazon appstore or amazon underground
some bank app
......
unity
unity remote
Authy or some other authenticator app to enable 2 factor authentication. you NEED this on at least your email. This can save you thousands of dollars years from now, if someone gets access to your email (very easy though most older recovery options, name of your dog, your mothers maiden name, the street you grew up on, etc).
A mobile scanner app. I am liking officelens 90% of the time.
Pocketcasts for podcasts
Smart audiobook reader
Lastpass(my favorite) or any other password manager(1password, keepass, etc). You should never use the same password twice, same reason as item number 1
Save your local area in maps options, this will save you lots of data and speed up maps by a lot sometimes.

[APP][WIDGET] Favourite Contacts - SMS based favourites (you won't find similar apps)

Favourite Contacts finds out the top contacts by monitoring the SMS activity from your device. Based on how much and how often you contact a person, this app determines which contacts should make it to your home screen for your facility.
I claim that this app can be used as a must have widget for those users who text frequently. I have personally used this algorithm long before I could make apps, only using the good old Tasker app and the results were extremely good. Now it is a full fledged app, and that too, unprecedented; Because I could not find a similarly working app on play store.
The app offers three different algorithms to suit the needs of different users.
The widget can be configured to open the contact, open the dialer, or to compose the SMS.
There can be 5 contacts on a widget.
There is an option to ignore the contacts which you do not wish to see on the widget.
Feel free to send feedback on [email protected]
Download from Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsbyusman.favouritecontacts
Just sent an update to the app. This should conserve lesser battery.
