$.05 flash bleedover fix for extended batteries - Nexus One Accessories

If you have an extended battery + door, you likely have bleed over from the flash. My particular door is a grey/bronze color, and the flash bleed was a greenish tint, which ruined any darker shots which required the flash.
Here is an example of what flash bleedover looks like:

and an example of a battery door that doesn't perfectly match the differences of height between the nexus one's camera lens and the flash. If you look closely at yours there is a .022" or difference, which allows the flash to bleed into the camera's lense section.
this is the battery door for my cheap $14 ebay 2700 mah battery and the $0.99 phone skin i hacked up to fit the battery door. (shrug) it works and doesn't look terrible from arms length.
closer shot of the battery door and the fix:
and the resulting picture with full flash and using touch focus (cyanogen nightly has an AWESOME camera app now!)
You can see the flash bleedover is completely gone. All you need is a bicycle repair kit, or a piece of gasket material, or black tape. Whatever is available will work, but adhesive backed material will keep it from moving around when switching batteries. (sweet)
Make sure you place it as close to the opening as possible, so as not to get any adhesive on the camera lens.
Sooo now you have 4-5 hours worth of solid still/video thanks to your extended battery, and can actually USE THE FLASH while doing it. Cool.
Maybe my battery door was the exception, but I doubt it. Post your results and methods here.

hmm, hadn't thought of that really. works great, batteries last for a month (rechargables AA).
i'll update to the newer model if/when it's time to get another apple keyboard wireless kb.
man it would rock if my kb worked with HID on the nexus

Fish-tank lens for camera

Just received my fish-tank lens from usbfever.com
http://usbfever.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=867
Funny gadget, wanted to try it... cost me $23 shipping included.
Thuis camera hasn't got the ability to focus on the whole image of course, so here's an example of what it does:

Same one apparantly... oh well a few dollars cheaper
Can you possibly take a pic with and without that lens to see the difference? =)
oh and does it work with the magnet and fits perfectly?
Ok, it's dark over here and as you know the camera sucks pretty hard then but this will give you an idea. Both pictures taken from exactly the same spot.
Also, the magnetic ring on the back cover (sticks with 3M tape) and the fish-tank lens on it.
Whoa that really is a big difference!
Does it fit to the original case with that ring?

As you can see in the third picture it fits the original back cover.
It sticks out a little bit (exactly 1 mm), but it's not very annoying to me.
I tried to put the magentic ring on the inner side of the back cover, but the cover didn't easily fit on the phone itself and the magnetic force was too low to hold the lens. So it has to be on the outside of the back cover.

[Q] Black and Silver OEM Back Cover

Does anyone have one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320715342088&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Is it really OEM? Are the materials the same? Aluminum and plastic? Does anyone have any pics they can share? Thanks!
That looks sick! I would definitely get one later on after I've accumulated more blemishes on my current back plate.
Looks nice. I may get a backup back instead of a case. It looks legit. May be bootleg though.
That looks great, but here's one that looks closer to oem and costs less.

man that black/silver back looks pretty nice...
I just noticed the black and silver doesn't have the antenna mount holes on it. I wonder how reception and death grip is working with that one.
I think the point of this was directed at people who is interested in switching away from the tricolor-ed back.
Edit:terrible English fix

The seller just responded my question about the item and I guess the black parts are really brown??...See below...
Dear cellapod,
Is this an accurate picture of the product? Are the colors black and silver?Is it really OEM, Meaning are the materials the same as the stock cover (aluminum and plastic)? Does it have all the right sensory parts underneath the cover?
"hi, this is photo of the item itis brown and grey original part"
Excellent
I like both back covers, but the silver one is more my taste. I will wait until they show up for a couple of bucks on Amazon.
Hopes crushed

and whats the outcome does it look good or is it noticeable that it's painted?

Marker leave a slight discolouration as the ink a little shinier than the dull finish of the phone, but it isn't really noticeable unless you see it in bright light. But the problem is, markers wear off really quickly. Even an industrial strength oil and waterproof ink I tried.
I've tried satin black car scratch repair ink, looks better than the ink if applied nicely, but, it also wears off.
Yeah, I tried marker too, looked ok for a day or so, but it wore off again pretty quickly.
I wonder how easy it would be to take off ALL the MAO coating and have an awesome silver phone

Any better ideas?
The idea has been mentioned somewhere, guess the general forum. Apparently this has been done on the Sensation, looks really nice imho
Pull off the frame and sandpaper it, teardown instructions: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?deskto...=&feature=player_embedded&v=b0jGY2N2h1U&gl=SE please do it now and post results!

It has been done on the HD2 battery cover as well, carefully sanded and polished to a near mirror finish. I suspect that was steel though, isn't the One S aluminum?
I was 90% joking; the One S is aluminium which will just rust to a dull grey colour, right? Plus, easy as it seems to get small but noticeable chips in the MAO covering, I think getting the lot off would require some serious effort. Maybe 6 months down the line when my phone really looks like cr*p, but right now it is still doable with the occasional application of black marker!
Yup its aluminium, will look a bit Mad Max I guess especially if not done with a lot of effort

P500 Battery doesn't fit

I have been trying to get a new battery (LGIP-400N) for my P500. I have bought three different batteries (all LGIP-400Ns) and none of them fit even though they all claim to work in the P500. They have all been too big and although the phone boots with the battery squeezed in, it sticks out at the corners and the case doesn't fit back on. It's also a different shape, the original has more rounded edges, whereas the ones I have received are more square.
The original is like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But the batteries I have received are like this:
Does anyone know where I can get a battery that works in the P500? Are the original batteries even available anymore? I have seen other people having the same problem. This one here looks like the original, but it doesn't mean you're going to get one like that... Any advice would be appreciated.
I got my original one from LG service centre. You can try that.

Question [Resolved] Looking for a Decent Tripod Adapter

I searched for a tripod adapter (P7 to standard tripod 1/4") and isolated most of them to three. Please see the image below. I'm leaning toward the Manbili due to its high ratings in the reviews and its dimensions:

Are there other adapters I should consider? All comments positive or negative are welcome, especially about the Manbily.
I bought a Magsafe case, and a Magsafe tripod mount, and never looked back. Magsafe accessories on Pixel are fantastic
Keep in mind that those clamp style holders probably won't be able to hold the phone in the middle. I have one from a previous phone and with the P7P it is kind of off balance since it needs to hold it from one side. The power and volume buttons are in the middle of the phone and the camera bump in on the side. So if you go with one like this make sure that the stand is strong enough to hold it like that.
I have 3 clamp style ones, a relatively expensive Manfrotto one, a good solid machined aluminium one and a cheap 8 quid Amazon thing and i use the amazon one more than anything which is a bit bonkers putting an expensive device in a £8 plastic clamp.
I don't have problems with stability but i use a low Manfotto tripod where the legs open very wide and very low https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0152WXZX4/
What is the maker & model of your "cheap 8 quid Amazon thing" (curious minds want to know...)

Do any of you have problems with the clamp pressing the buttons on the side of the P7P?
My thanks to all who replied! I popped for Ulanzi's top model.
