Hello everyone,
because power button seems to be a little irksome, is there any other way to "wake up" my phone ? For example with "home" icon ?
Nowadays my power button doesn't work properly indeed and have to push it enough to "wake up" my phone.
Does anyone has the same problem ?
Had the same problem, sent phone to HTC UK (since I live in Malta) and got the button replaced for free.
I now use No lock to wake the phone from trackball and lock widget to lock it

I have an HTC FUZE and I dropped it in a puddle of water and now the power button is constantly activated even though I am not touching the button. The button still clicks fine but again, the power button is always active. I cannot manually put my phone to sleep, nor can I turn it off using the power button.
My question is, could I remap the power button (long and short) to another button say the PPT button?
thanks
help anyone?
I had a similar problem with my first Fuze and had to get a refurbished replacement from AT&T. In my case the sticking power button caused constant rebooting of the phone. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I was unable to do anything to unstick the button.
if the power button is just nt working, you can still put your phone to sleep with third paty softwares like psShutXp. But I don't think it is possible to remap it to a different hardware key afaik.

Is there any way, when using the default windows lock program that comes with the Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2, to make the phone lock when pressing the power button on top?
I'm struggling to find a program that will prevent my phone from powering down when I have it in my belt holster. Most of the replacement programs out there do NOT prevent the phone from turning off by holding down the end key when the screen is locked. The only lock program that I found that can is the default lock program. But that won't automatically lock the phone when I press the power button on top. It will only lock if it tap the 'lock' soft key.
Any suggestions?
Found my solution! A little program that causes the lock to happen whenever the phone goes into standby.

Currently I have my Android phone setup to use a numeric pin to lock the device. Unfortunately this means everytime the phone goes to idle (or directly by me pressing the power button) I have to enter the pin to use the phone. There are many instances when I don't want to have to do so, such as while driving when I want to be able to quickly and more safely glance at the phone.
Basically I want to lock the phone on an as needed basis, by simply tapping on an app on the homescreen (or perhaps even a different key combination e.g. volume up + power button). Does such a thing exist?
Power Control Plus works exactly as you described. You can toggle the lockscreen with the press of a widget:

Additionally, I like Unlock w/ WiFi, its automated:

Ummm widget locker
I have been using Tap Tap App to do this.
Screen Off and lock is perfect.
But I think there is still a problem when unlocking ur screen, u still need to press the power button...
No Lock can help on keeping ur screen off but not lock, so that u can press other buttons to trigger ur phone. But it seems that after reboot, the app is not working>.<
thanks for the suggestions! I'll give them all a try.
Hi guys, I have searched for awhile but with no luck. I am looking for an app that will turn my home or search button into an unlock key.
When the phone is locked I just long press the home or search key and my phone unlocks. I don't really like pressing the power button.
Thanks!
those buttons are non functional until you press the power button. they're not physical buttons so they can't be used for what you want
Tap tap app works with the proximity sensor to wake up and turn off the screen of the phone ( kinda like using the force ). When you wake the screen just unlock using the normal screen ring to middle swipe.

Currently testing out this app....

Just played around with it and this app actually UNLOCKS the phone. No more swiping needed to unlock the ring, even though the lockscreen is cool an all. This can be disabled if you do enjoy the lockscreen app .
This app does skip that but right now unsure on how it affects battery.
Hey, quick question in regards to the Tap Tap app. I've been using it and so far fine, but wondering if this wears out the proximity sensor in any way? Red light kind of always on? Or am I being a bit paranoid?
Hey everyone, i have noticed that my desire s power button seems to be wearing out as its taking more and more pressure to activate it, i bought it second hand but it was fine at the time.. does anyone else experience this or am i just unlucky
It's a know issue with the desire s.
That's why I use the vol keys to unlock screen and a lock shortcut to lock the screen.

since im not rooted, yet, i have to use power to on
@mayurh
You don't need to be rooted to use the vol keys to wake the screen.
I know it works with golocker (need goLauncherEX) and WidgetLocker Lockscreen
It cost me 15euro for the change of the power button here in Bulgaria.
The elements must be cheap because it cost me same for the change of a speaker.
