Why A Case? Why not an entire metal or aluminum replacement for the back of your Epic and a screen protector for the front?
Anyone know of a place where I can get one of these in metal?

Kinda wishin I did 3D printing now
+1 on battery cover instead of case. Not too sure about metal though, because won't metal interfere with signal? Can't wait for extra battery cover to come out so that I can. Paint it myself.

I never thought about the whole signal thing, but I wouldn't mind trying it out anyways. It would add style, durability depending how it is built. I am thinking some rubber bumpers on the inside to protect it from shock. This phone did cost a grip - so forgive me if I want to make sure I dont damage it prematurely.
The fascinate already has its battery cover for sale on samsung online store...why not the epic. ugh samsung, whaaii?!
Yeah...metallic back! Sweet! I want a brass mesh so I could show off the insides, too! That'd be cool.
/snicker
Metal would almost certainly have an impact on signal. There are things you can do to avoid it, like making sure the metal is placed in a way where it will not cover the antenna, but you would need to know a lot about the phone to do that. You can test this out very easy, get a piece of aluminum foil and place it over the back of the phone. Use an application like "Real Signal" to get a reading of how much it hurts/helps your signal.
I need a new battery cover already also. The rubber coating is peeling off the back of mineon the corners. :-(
at the very least a replaceable rubber grip back cover pref with galaxy branding. my vote goes to rubber bamboo combo
After chillin with the phone for a while I'm kinda getting used to the default hardware. I could use a rubber case though. One that wrapped around the whole phone and incorporated a screen protector.

Posting here in case you don't read the Vibrant forum.
I've been searching for an armband for my Vibrant for awhile and decided to get the Tune Belt Armband.
This is the one I got:
https://www.tunebelt.com/domino/tunebelt/shop.nsf/parts/3FBB580A8B45C3DA852577AD00660D14
So far it's a very good armband except in one area. The length of the band itself is kind of short. If you have decent sized biceps, I highly recommend getting the extension. It only costs a few dollars more so it's well worth the investment in case your arm is too big. This should fit just fine on most women.
The armband fits with my Vibrant still inside it's case which is exactly what I was looking for.
Here are some pics.

Hopes this helps anyone looking for the right armband.
How well does it cope with water? Not just the kind from above, but also sweat from where it touches skin.
How much does it take to make the phone fall out? Looks like its "just" a flap with no velcro securing it in place?

I used to have a neoprene case exactly like this for an ipod and they don't deal with water...

It would take a LOT for it to fall out. The "flap" actually curves over the top of the phone because of the stitching and holds the phone very securely. I shook it as hard as I could and the phone did not budge.
To get the phone out, I have to hold the flap open and push the phone from the bottom, otherwise it doesn't come out.
As far as moisture, I would not run a marathon with any neoprene armband (at least not with a $500 phone in it). But for gym use, I think it's sufficient.
I'm going to run it through the gym the next few weeks and see how it holds up.
The build quality looks to be on par with my other 2 armbands and they've survived for a number of years now. Only time will tell.
All you need is a can of Plasti-Dip which can be found in the spray paint aisle of your local Home Depot for $6. I've used it for deleting the chrome trim around my car and it has held up admirably for well over a year now. People have even covered their rims in this stuff with good results. It is the aerosol version of the rubber grip stuff that you dip your tools in. No prep besides a good cleaning of the cover is necessarily needed but I sanded mine down with a fine grit sanding pad for good measure.
If you turn the cap upside down it makes the perfect base to hold the cover. Be careful though as it can pop off if not positioned properly. I've found that the best spot for it is the bottom half of the cover. Three to four coats is perfect. Make sure to pay the most attention to the outer edges and the inner lip of of it. The initial base coats are the most important, making sure that the primer coat has a good adhesion for the final coats to stick to. Make sure to let each coat dry properly before applying the next. It does not have the same consistency of spray paint so don't hit it with thick coats but rather several light once-overs. Do not go to thick on the inner lip, you just want a wrap base so that it does not lift up from around the edges and peel off. Make sure to hit the holes from the back as well. A base coat and a second pass is more than enough.
You're now "gripped" and can now use your phone with reckless abandon without the fear of dropping it. This is the perfect mod for those who do not want a case but can't stand how slippery the Epic is. If you carry your phone in your pocket it is best to keep the face of your phone toward your thigh and to cuff the cover with your hand when removing, otherwise the friction of the rubber against your pocket will give you rabbit ears.

I like this. I'd probably od and try to cover everything except the screen. Do you think its possible?
Epic4G + Froyo = The Shizznit
Hello everyone,
I have this awesome case, however, the one issue I have with it is that the kickstand on it makes standing the phone up while charging impossible, because the charging port faces down.
Has anyone ever modded this? Or anyone know how to get the kickstand off so I can reverse it without causing too much damage?
I've looked inside and out, but there's no screws or any mounting type of hardware.... wonder if it's welded or glued?
This drives me nuts too, but I doubt you're going to be able to modify it without cutting into the rubber. A bummer for sure.
Best feeling/looking case but that does kinda suck

I sent Seidio an email, let's see if they reply with any helpful info.
Well, they weren't much help, but they were very nice.
But.......... SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to go for it.

1. take a small screwdriver to the back and pry off the black coating, you can remove it. Yes, this breaks the seal (and voids your warranty), but now you can access the entire metal assembly of the kickstand.
2. Then you flip it.
3. Install the hardcase back onto the rubber case that's on the phone (you don't need to seal it back up, cos it fits perfectly, though, you definitely can affix something to the back if you really want), and VOILA! Kickstand phone is charging!
Awesome! Thanks for taking the risk for the rest of us Will definitely be doing this.
Nice.
Now my only complaint is that the stand makes phone sit funny.
Been living with by propping it up and can continue to do so, just a slight annoyance of a other wise good case.

DEFINATELY HELPFUL !!! the same reason i didn't buy this case .. now i might give it a go
This is the sweetest case around. I will be trying this mod, now......

Hey guys I recently bought a UAG casing for my S5 online, and I realized that it doesn't really fit? I'm not sure but it looks like the casing isn't wide enough for the phone or something. Alot of times it feels liek the phone is "popping out" in a bad way, and I can see the gold trim around the phone too.
Do you think I bought a fake one? Cos it's very tough to remove the phone from the casing too and I can hear the creaks and feels like the phone is gonna bend or something!

It depends on where u bought it online? I have a clear one and right now prefer it over a ballistic case and a spigen slim armor cs case. Fits perfectly, and the phone is secure in it. It can be a little tough removing the case, but I prefer it that way... :good:
Mine fits perfectly in my case. It is a little hard to get out, but that it because it fits so perfectly. You shouldn't see any gaps or even any part of the bezel. I have seen a lot of fake UAG cases where they are, for lack of a better term, "warped" and don't fit snuggly, leaving gaps around the bezel. I would be a little concerned that you got a fake one. Where did you buy it? Also, the pics posted aren't coming up on my end to look at it.
Wassup guys just a little review. Got my 1st case in today. Wish i had the phone to go inside it. 2 part case.
1st impressions....very nice case. Great feel to it. Light and comfortable. May be a little slippery but not too bad. Sides do offer some grip tho with rubberish material. Great finish on it with the coral blue. Kick stand feels decent stays in place when open and snaps back closed when needed. Button press seems like it will be fine but cant tell until phine arrives. Over all protection id rate 6 out of 10.
1 of the things i noticed first was how thin the case was. This is not a bad thing. Im comming from a note 4 with a verus thor case and can fit the new case almost inside the verus thor note 4 case. This is good relating to actual phone size. My note 4 was slightly too large to properly hold it in my hand. This seems like it will be nearly perfect for me.
2 things im worried about.....when the phone is in the case and face down im hoping it leaves a gap between the surface and screen. I believe it does but again i need my phone to tell.
2 inner part of kickstand. Im worried about it somehow scratching the back glass of the phone. Anyone know where to get a rear body plastic protector?
Check out some pics. Hope this helps.
Nice. I was checking those out. I bought 5 Thors for my N4 at $3 each. Waiting for that sale again from Verus. Bring on the N7!
Buy a premium metal glass phone and put it into a plastic rubber case breaks my heart. Waiting for the drop tests if it's durable I will add skin on the back to only remove those finger prints and make the phone less slippery. Maybe some mental frame would be cool too, but then phone becomes more bullky.
I got the VRS TPU case. Looks pretty awesome so far!
