So it says that they wont charge us for downloading OTA update, but... my log says otherwise. ( the 13k kb ones are the OTA update download btw )
How come it ate up my data usage?
I previously had approximately 85-89mb of data usage for the month, but after attempting to download the OTA update quite a few times ( I was frustrated since it keeps telling me that update failed ), it showed up on my data usage log. Now AT&T tells me that I've used 159mb/200mb so far, and I even got a text this morning saying I've used 65% of my data usage for the month. ( I'm on the 200mb data plan )
What the heck is going on??? what if there's an OTA update in the future that are three digit long. If I go over my limit, I would have to pay extra $15.00 for another 200mb of data. @[email protected]

I went over my limit but if you call them they will credit your bill for the data used. It's still a hassle though. I think at&t is still new to the Android phones and the need for updates.

Shouldn't be foreign to em though. My wife has done quite a few updates with her iphones.

Someone from android forum told me this:

Same here I was connected to Wifi. AT&T reps are so dumb. I called AT&T regarding this and he says as per AT&T policy, OTA updates are charged. He also suggested that if I am concerned about AT&T charging OTA updates then either I should upgrade to 2GB plan or don't use smartphone at all.

Wow, that rep is a jerk!

I got charged 6 times on my account. I tried the OTA update 6 times and failed each time. so now I have 72 MB charged to my data plan... either Engadget got their story wrong, or both Engadget and AT&T are both lying...

iOS updates are all through iTunes right? This cuts AT&T out of the picture all together.

Correct. iPhones do not use OTA for firmware updates. You have to use iTune to download the firmware then update the phone. WP7 will be the same.

[Q] HTC OneX Rogers Hotspot - Limited Connectivity

I have a stock Rogers HTC OneX running the latest stock update 4.1.1. Not rooted, never had a custom installed on this particular device.
I am unable to use the mobile hotspot like I used to before the update. Both my laptops, my tablet and my TV can all connect to my HTC OneX with no issues. However, on each device, the connection is "Limited Connectivity" with no internet access.
I had originally thought it was the devices themselves and their settings. However, after using a friends device as a hotspot, each device connects perfectly with full connectivity. It has become obvious it is my OneX and it's settings preventing a full connection.
Here is where I ask you experts on how I may fix this issue.
Here are some SS of my current settings if it helps. Thank you for your help

Just wanted to follow up just in case other have the same issue as me.
After performing quite the bit of troubleshooting, I decided to call Rogers. Since the last time I have used me device as a hotspot, late fall, there have been two things that have happened. My data service got flipped over from HSPA to LTE and Rogers pushed out the HTC OneX 4.1.1 update. At first the tech was puzzled as my account seemed to be provisioned correctly. In the end, he removed tethering from my account, and reapplied it. This solved my issue immediately.
Before you jump in about Rogers and tethering; due note that Rogers USED to have a separate paid account feature for tethering. They removed this, and included tethering on all accounts, saying "data is data" which is a great thing. However, when rogers was ushering in LTE, originally they were NOT going to provision current users with HSPA data plans with LTE service. LTE data was going to be an extra feature you jumped over to for an extra cost, AND they were going have a separate provision code for tethering. This was shortly lived and just before LTE came out they announced that all data plans will be LTE compatible, with no extra charge so long as you had an LTE device. The old provision codes remained in the system and are supposed to be automatically added. Sometimes this does not happen or gets bugged causing my issue. This according the CSR Tech I spoke with.
TLDR; Out dated provision codes still in system and sometimes bug out. Rogers CSR reset my tethering feature and all is well and working.

There is also one called "Blackberry Messenger" but the reviews about that are that the applications crash when starting.
All of the versions in the screen are from 20 september.

They are all fakes, just wait till the official version appears on the marketplace.
From what I've read, the official version would be BlackBerry Messenger (capital B in Berry). Most likely the developer would be RIM. A couple of hours left.

JB.1.100 / Phantom Kernel 1.1.3
Stock, unlocked, and rooted.
As has been posted Several Times in Several Threads, BBM is NOT in the Play Store at the moment- those are all fakes (Check the Developer Pages for proof). BBM is going live for android in 70 mins - regardless of TimeZone.
To be sure, the app will appear from THIS developer (aka the official BlackBerry Limited): https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=BlackBerry Limited&hl=en
Also, you should be able to download it from the official Blackberry Website here:
http://us.blackberry.com/bbm.html?lid=us:bb:bbm&lpos=us:bb:bbm
Some users have managed to use the service for a few mins at a time through the leaked app, while Blackberry was doing "Server Maintenance/Checks" in anticipation of the launch. However, it has NOT been consistent. The service will ONLY work when the servers go live. Once again, this will be in 70 minutes- regardless of Time Zone
not launch yet
No wonder they are going down

Is it just me or does the ongoing notification keep disappearing for the rest of you folks who got the leaked to work? Feels like the app keeps getting killed and restarted.

If you all insist on going crazy over this little app, at least keep it in one thread. There is no need for a dozen threads with download links from a dozen different places.

Phone gone crazy

Hello, I'm not even sure am I posting in right sector? However, I have some serious issues with my phone lately. It started 2 years ago with my Note 3, I'm suspecting that someone government or some individual spy my phone. However, let me explain you whats going on before you think i'm paranoid.( i'm not hey?). So i bought Note 3 post paid with local telecomunication company 2 months after the release, and everything was normal. Then i went out of the country to holiday, there stops my signal. No roaming, can't select any carrier. So i asked guy where i bought phone whats going on he told me that it's becouse they might still not active roaming. Alright no problem. The minute i enter my country i got my signal back. Anyway i broke the phone and I switch phone and telecommunication company( so new phone, new SIM card, basically everything). And i went to another school trip, the minute I left my country the same thing happened. No signal, no roaming, can't select any carrier. After I came back I asked reseller whats it about he told me same thing first one did. Might be that roaming is still not active. Alright. Now whats happening, my mother bought the phone with that 2nd telecommunication company so we got 2 new phones on her name( not sure do you understand me? Both of phones are in agreement with my mother. My mother and I went aboard and the thing is with her phone everything was fine, roaming; signal. My phone of course don't have signal the minute I left boarder. Alright, i stopped to worry and let it go. After all, few months ago i started getting roaming in my own country? There started paranoia again I guess. I went to see the guy and he told me that becouse when signal on tower drops you might get roaming. But the thing is i've watch on YouTube this new surveillance system SS7 how spying is done on phones is done. So before they intercept SMS/call roaming turns on on target device, huh? Alright thats alot of paranoia I guess, so i simpy download AIMSICD and guess what? AIMSICD detect cell towers in my own house? Huh? And also it gave me "Danger" notification, i'm going to give you screenshot.
Anyone got idea whats going on? Too much paranoia or this is possible?
Someone might ask why i think i've begin tracked, well there are few reasons but i can't really discass it so publicly.
Thank you

New official htc U11 system update (2022) available! Has anyone updated already?

Hello everyone,
yesterday (January 4th 2022) I got a notification that there is a new system update (3.31.401.1) for the U11. The notification states system improvement. The size of the update is 403.64 MB. My current system software revision has the same number as this update (3.31.401.1) and is from 2019.
My mobile is running on stock firmware and is not rooted. I have not updated the phone.
Has anyone besides me got this notification and updated yet?
What will this update affect?
Will this update remove the discontinued preinstalled htc apps?

Wow I haven't been on xda in a minute ...I also came here to say I got the ota today as well. I pulled it and it shows 80 mb on my end. I'm rooted running stock. So I ain't flashing it just yet...I dropped it in my Dropbox if anyone wants to take a look at it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/32dmepvo4...7.617.2_r1-3.37.617.2_release_554614.zip?dl=0
Any idea why there is such a big difference in size of the update?
Mine shows 403.64 MB.
About time!
Somebody is finally talking of this update!
I've been googling since I first received the notification on january 2, but couldn't find any trace of this update on the internet, to the point I was getting very suspicious, especially after reading of the "system update malware" early this year.
I've yet to update my current U11 (and the notification has been pestering me since then) but I did update a second U11 I'm not using anymore due to a faulty sim slot.
Absolutely nothing changed. Still showing the same android version and build.
Mine is 3.37.617.2 IDK why everyone elses is different but here is the update

Mint Mobile SERIOUS Android issue, ANDROID SECURITY UPDATES

If you own an unlocked phone, there is something you should be aware of before choosing Mint Mobile as a carrier (this may apply to any carrier that uses a major carrier's network rather than their own).
Mint Mobile supplies no software or Android updates (unless possibly if you purchased your unlocked phone from Mint Mobile).
I purchased my unlocked Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G used. The prior owner was on the Verizon network. I used the AT&T network, which put all the AT&T "bloatware" on my phone.
When I switched to Mint Mobile, all the AT&T software remained and cannot be uninstalled (other than by a factory data reset). My phone still boots with the AT&T logo, despite using Mint now.
The Google Play store is forcing an update to AT&T SIGN-IN HELPER - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.att.csoiam.mobilekey, an app I do not want or need. I am FAR from the only one facing this issue, if you read the reviews for that app.
My Note20 Ultra 5G is on Android 13, the last scheduled Android version for this model. However, I just discovered that I have not bern receiving monthly Android security updates since switching to Mint, because the phone still contacts AT&T to receive them, despite the fact that I no longer have AT&T as a carrier.
Mint Mobile support is aware of this and has no resolution.
Now my question... is there a safe way for me to manually install Android security updates on my non-rooted phone?
(Attempting to update on the phone always says "interrupted" now. The help option sends me to AT&T . Samsung support suggests I take my out of warranty phone to a service center )

and automatically gets installed on Google Pixel phones. Whether carriers also rollout a corresponding OTA is in their hands.

AT&T shows Android security updates for my phone model that are dated later than Nov 1, 2022 (my last update), but they can only be installed on the AT&T network, so I am kinda screwed at this point. My current Mint Mobile contact only has about a month left, I might need to switch to a major carrier just to get the Android security updates.
