Phone gone crazy - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I'm not even sure am I posting in right sector? However, I have some serious issues with my phone lately. It started 2 years ago with my Note 3, I'm suspecting that someone government or some individual spy my phone. However, let me explain you whats going on before you think i'm paranoid.( i'm not hey?). So i bought Note 3 post paid with local telecomunication company 2 months after the release, and everything was normal. Then i went out of the country to holiday, there stops my signal. No roaming, can't select any carrier. So i asked guy where i bought phone whats going on he told me that it's becouse they might still not active roaming. Alright no problem. The minute i enter my country i got my signal back. Anyway i broke the phone and I switch phone and telecommunication company( so new phone, new SIM card, basically everything). And i went to another school trip, the minute I left my country the same thing happened. No signal, no roaming, can't select any carrier. After I came back I asked reseller whats it about he told me same thing first one did. Might be that roaming is still not active. Alright. Now whats happening, my mother bought the phone with that 2nd telecommunication company so we got 2 new phones on her name( not sure do you understand me? Both of phones are in agreement with my mother. My mother and I went aboard and the thing is with her phone everything was fine, roaming; signal. My phone of course don't have signal the minute I left boarder. Alright, i stopped to worry and let it go. After all, few months ago i started getting roaming in my own country? There started paranoia again I guess. I went to see the guy and he told me that becouse when signal on tower drops you might get roaming. But the thing is i've watch on YouTube this new surveillance system SS7 how spying is done on phones is done. So before they intercept SMS/call roaming turns on on target device, huh? Alright thats alot of paranoia I guess, so i simpy download AIMSICD and guess what? AIMSICD detect cell towers in my own house? Huh? And also it gave me "Danger" notification, i'm going to give you screenshot.
Anyone got idea whats going on? Too much paranoia or this is possible?
Someone might ask why i think i've begin tracked, well there are few reasons but i can't really discass it so publicly.
Thank you

Spare 3G SIM, is it useful for anything?

I have a 3G ATT sim card just lying around, can I do anything with it?
Examples if any so I know where to look would be awesome.
Thanks!
I have a humungous pile of these.
You can call in to activate one on your account should you lose another one, it gets zapped by lightning, etc.
You can use em to store contacts and sms!
Damn I hoped I could do somthing amazing with it like build a time machine or somthing... Oh well I guess itll just hold numbers.
Thanks G!
You'd still need a flux capacitor..
Moving to General.
Use it to scrape out toe cheese.
with a little bit of creativity...
If you get another one of spare SIM cards you can easily make very nice earrings...

sim planning for world domination
You are sick, man. But that did make my day!
lol!
that was great!
you should make an animated series of 3g sims gathering together to conquer the world.
do a Stop Action
What a magical evening you must have had with your special Sim card. Who doesn't deserve a hot pocket and a cold beer at the end of a long day..?
i share a very special relationship with my sim. good thing hes easy to cook for.
and hes always talking about taking over the world
wow. what more else can i say? lmao
a short clip of your photos would probably make a better at&t commercial than anything they could come up with! more bars this!

Byt than again the average person has no idea what a sim card is lol
though it happens very, very rarely (but it has happened in the past), sometimes when service providers are updating their towers, they have glitches, where sometimes they may end up forgetting to re-secure their network. it's happened in the past, that with an old t-mobile sim card that was deactivated, I was able to throw it into a phone and get online with the temporary proxy settings that were available at the time. perhaps, if you're lucky, someday your 3g service provider might make the same mistake?

I think my phone has spyware!

Hi!
I have a HTC HD2. I was recently busted by the cops for some illegal drugs.
I was in arrest 3 days, and when I recived the phone it was fully charged! So I know they have been synced it and used it to find evidence. But I have quite more batterydrain than before(I belive. Maby I am paranoid?), so I am worried that they have installed a wire tapping program or something on it.
This is in Norway.
Is there any way to find out?
Can I hard reset the device and be sure that the syware is gone, or do I need to flash another ROM?
Thank you for answears!
Jokim
akilles_, dude, no spyware is needed to track your calls and to track your current position Didn't you see any MOB movies? Use the street public phones to find the dope! Your mobile is like an opened book (and not only yours)
So I know they have been synced it and used it to find evidence.

So what's the problem - open ActiveSync on device and check partnership. Thus you will know that for sure....
this thread deserves an lol.
Lol.
Just get another sim card and move to Amsterdam.
you're stoned man. LOL!
a hard-reset will do and get some sleep.

Either he's pulling someone's leg or the lining from his nose to his brain has been damaged by cocaine. . .
Not only do a hard reset, but get a new phone number & sim card!
I know that they lisening on my calls and sms from before. they have done that in almost a year. I also know they dont need spyware to do that.
But to use my phone as a mic in a room and lisening to my conversation to others in the room, I belive they need spyware. Thats why I ask.
sorry for crappy english writing. But U all know that dealers dont get education!

Dude, nevermind the language
Read this http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_hd2_leo_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
and perform hard reset.....
And better buy pre-payed sim and a new phone 'cause your IMEI is anyway traced by them through the provider's equipment
And - find yourself another business. Otherwise sooner or later you are in deep ****.
You need to get off meth your over the top paranoid. Take the plea bargain.
unless your dealing in millions or dollars worth of drugs i very much doubt the police are gonna spend 1000's monitoring your phone or making it into a listening device by using the mic to listen to your conversations ( it might happen in movies but the practicalities of doing it is different).
reset your phone , get a new sim and lay off the weed
Why we all discussing this and why havent the mods shut it? this guy wudnt know how to deal a deck of cards nevamind drugs and if he was (unless he's an idiot) he wudnt be shouting about it on the internet lol

IF your 3G internet download is ridicolously slow..

Thought I put this here, in case someone has the same issue.
Just got my Orange UK S4. Orange also run a 4G network called EE, and my phone is EVR ie EE network coded.
My contract is NOT on the 4G network, since I didnt need it.
My first attempt at using the internet connection (away from wifi) was a download of a 1.5meg PDF attachment in the email app, and it was ridiculous slow, like it took 5 mins
Also the browser was not responding or downloading data at all.
So had a brain wave and went into network settings/more networks/mobile networks/network mode/ and changed from 2g/3g/4g, to "2g/3g"
and this solved the issue perfectly.
I think the problem is that in the 4G mode, the phone keeps trying repeatedly (like for every packet) to connect in 4g, and gets rejected by the network, so downshifts to 3g or HDSPA for downloading one packet, and repeats the whole merry cycle...
Hope this might some confusion for others in the future.
More likely that the phone was camped onto an Orange 3G bts initially. By swapping network type selection you forced it to pick up a tmobile site....remembering that tmobile and orange share each others networks now under the banner of EE.
A lot of orange sites were never that fast anyway, even worse now the join with tmobile. They are relying a lot more on the tmobile 3G sites.

On T-Mobile here and switching LTE off makes absolutely no difference to my speeds :/ Ran a test with LTE on and off and I get 10Mb on and off.

No probs on 3 network :good:

OP here!
The first download was crazy slow, 1000 times slower than when I was on the pure Orange network, but it seems fixed now, and on my new rom flashed yesterday, it seems ok.
Completely agree about the orange/EE service at present. It has become terrible, I think they are shoving all subscribers onto one network, and its becoming harder to make a call without it dropping etc... And this is in West London!

Keeps dropping network

Woke up this morning, no service, keeps saying current network (T-Mobile) is unavailable, the only way it'll work is if I pull sim card out, power it down, reinsert it and start it back up, it'll work fine for about half an hour and drops network again.
I'm running latest mahdi ROM, nothing else modified.
Any help appreciated.
BTW sim card is relatively new( about 5 months old)
Try a different ROM and if it still does it RMA the device I was having problems with service to where when I was using data it would decide to switch to h/3g I'm on T-Mobile as well

Thanks for the suggestion, i don't think its the ROM, but to put my mind and ease and eliminate that possibility I'll flash another ROM tonight.
Btw how does the RMA work? I've never had to go through this before
Thanks
If you purchased it through T-Mobile just call T-Mobile and tell them you're having problems with it and just do troubleshooting stuff and if what they say doesent work unroot it and send it back and if you purchased it through google same exact thing
Although I bought it brand new, it wasn't from Google or T-Mobile itself. If I can't rectify this with software I'll have to contact lg and see what they say
No bueno, flashed other ROM and currently on stock ROM still having same problem, service drops off rendering phone useless. Emergency calls only is all i get.
Any advice?
Try going to the service menu which you can get into by dialing *#*#4636#*#* in dialer. Go into phone information and try changing this setting:

Since you're on t mobile I'd recommend trying anything but CDMA. WCDMA is fine though. Maybe one of the options will help solve your connectivity issues.
Personally I'm on WCDMA only when connected to WiFi. This gives me 3G. Otherwise I am on LTE only. GSM should give you 2g.

Have you tried different modem?
Figured it out, in short I got scammed. Called tmobile today, they blacklisted the phone for non payment, I guess the guy that sold it to me hadn't paid it off/paid. I guess lesson learned, call service provider and make sure device is paid off.
It still works with att. At this point I'll sell it as such and or for parts.
Thanks everyone

Moving thread .... don't believe its a sprint issue
I switched from sprint to T-Mobile. They screwed up and let us keep our old phones and did a discount for the hassle. I figure I don't need 2 S8's so I would just sell it. Welcome to my nightmare.....
So I factory reset the phone to get all my data off, I did this through the settings menu. No issues the phone reset. It was at the beginning new phone screen so I just left it and placed the phone on craigslist.
I get a buyer and we meet at the store. The lady who works at sprint and was going to verify the phone was not stolen starts the phone and asks me for the password..........huh?....
The phone is at a password screen and I have maybe 5 at most that I use various combos of, none of these work. She brings it over to the "techs" there are they say they have never seen this. I then apologize the the man who wanted to buy the phone and proceed home. I do some searching online and find out how to get into certain menus and do resets, and re-flash the stock rom. Even after those it wants a password.
I then think I'll just use find my phone with good and unlock it. Well it is a sprint phone and I have T-Mobile now so it has no connection, and I can't get past the password to get to the wifi settings. So google says it can't find my phone.
I contact Samsung and since it’s been less than a year they say they will help. I send in the phone and they send me it back with the crack on the back of the phone fixed and nothing else. I called and they said they have record of me asking for help with a password problem. I then ask if I can send it back and get that taken care of and they said it would cost 150$ because they fixed the phone......huh?
I really just want this password off the phone. At this point it’s a matter of I am more curious about finding a way to get it off the phone than selling it. I’m also open to all ideas. Taking it apart, flashing something third party on it.
If you need pictures I will get them up shortly. Or a video. At work currently, so I can probably reply in a timely manner. If you need more info please ask and I’ll try and get whatever you need
Thanks in advance
