I've recompiled CMParts from git to enable support for changing the LED Notifications. Just download and install.
Before people go complaining, yes 90% of the settings don't work, and will never work on our phones. That's due to hardware limitations, not software issues. This is here for those that missed that working 10%. Will update with each new CM6 release, as long as I have a hero (being divested to AT&T).

Supposedly? Maybe? It's uninstallable so it wouldn't hurt to try and report back. I built it trying to solve a different issue, that it didn't solve. I figured it might be useful to others (especially those that used this in the nightlies when it was enabled).
okay so maybe i am having a brain fart but how in the hell do you install this i tried doing it from recovery but that didnt work so did i miss something i cant do it from in the phone as well ????

Just install using Astro
I don't think the trackball notifications will work with this, those are still locked. But this will let you change the LED notification settings (color, etc.)
Maybe in the OP we should put a list of working colors, although as far as I know it's just green and orange.

Yes, those are the only two that work on the Hero.

So would that .apk work with CM 6.1? I am still getting a solid color when my notification lights go off, even when I pick the blink frequency within handscent.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Oh, that's interesting. I think I have a similar issue, but I'm using a nightly from 9/8. I get text LED's, but not e-mail when using K9, unless there's an option in K9 that turns these on/off. FYI, I'm not using handcent.

I get my LED notifications using the AOSP MMS but I can't speak for thrid party apps... double check your system settings (not just the app settings)
Darch rebuilt the LED programming (or so he said) so I don't know. Mine will light up solid, but will not flash. Kinda frustrating, but small potatoes in the large scheme I guess.
My phone also doesnt show the notification LED. I miss having the green LED blinking when I have a missed call or text. Hopefully they can fix this issue.
Ok not to be an ass but do u not read ANY RULES? and yea caps bcuz u guys don't read. This is not Q&A section. There is a huge STICKY THREAD IN ALL CAPS saying this.

Have you guys gone into handcents settings and changed the LED light to green or orange? I had the same problem but found that the LED was defaulted to a color that our LEDs dont have. Check it and see if it helps.

Ditto. I asked in the Testing for Hero thread if anyone else was having the same problem last week and got no reply. Running 9/6 nightly.
LED won't blink/flash when a message, email, or missed call is received.

I have Infin1ty rom on right now, before that was stock, then oxygen, then zulu and opensoju.
All these roms had one thing in common----BLN wouldnt work for me.
I tried reflashing, wiping, doing EVERYTHING that i can think of! and BLN just wont work. I have NO clue why, i reflashed roms, bought the pro app and still didnt work.
The test notification works fine. Im running the stock messaging app and GO SMS, and for some reason nothing works.... im getting annoyed it works for everyone else accept a dozen or so of us xda members.
BLN works fine for me using Opensoju. Make sure to download BLN from market.

i have all the correct kernal and everything, im so confused
I use a Trinity kernel with NSCollab, and it's ok.
Sorry, i can't help you :-(
So i just flashed the trinity kernal (one in the first post) and it still doesnt work with BLN.
all that happens is phone vibrates, i see my widgetlocker theme, then phone shuts off and the bottom keys arent lighting up. Whats going on?

It's not a perfect replacement for LED indicator. It only works on new messages, i.e. it won't stay until you clear your notifications.

Not sure why but like with the last leak, the 4G and signal bars stay white. Now from what I understand they go green after syncing with google as well as staying connected to google.
My account is sucked and all gapps are working just kind of perplexed why it does not show green.
Thanks!

For some reason, T-Mobile decided not to do it that way. Your phone is connected to google and is syncing, it just doesn't show the green. It kinda sucks, (even though I dig the green though!),but it is what it is.

Thanks for your contribution.
Not to downplay it, but whats the point if its always green? no difference than its always grey, right?
I agree, thanks for trying but I don't see the point so much.
No, the green means an uninhibited connection to google servers. Sync will still work, doesn't mean it's working properly. Do a master reset and see if your apps auto download. Something is wrong, it's a feature of gingerbread to turn green when properly connected. No, TMO didn't decide anything, this hasn't made it throught TMO yet, LG just messed something up.
I'm not sure why they would leave it out. They either said "hey, it's not important", or it is just something they haven't enabled for this test release (see LG camera app).

EH, there's no point. It just looks better. haha. But thanks for being positive!
Has anyone just flashed the zip and kept the old baseband? Not used the updater? If so can you verify its still grey? Probably a shot in the dark but doesn't hurt to ask.

There is an app in the Market called LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications that works with the G2X. It worked without root with 2.2 but apparently it requires root with 2.3.3 due to some changes LG made to the phone.
Yup I use the one phburks suggested works very nice, the developers of the app fixed the root issue with 2.3.3, works flawless
thx

I wouldn't call it fixing the root issue. I just downloaded and installed the app and it required root permission to make the file writable and has to do so at every boot. So if you are not rooted it will not work on 2.3.3 on our device.
Does not work for me.

No it is not possible. LG changed the permissions on the file that controls the soft key lights in Gingerbread. It is now a read only file. In order to write to it and turn on the lights you must be rooted so the app can change the permissions.

I think this one sucks compared to the CM7 one. CM7 one has slightly better options and less annoying. That is, unless someone can tell me how to not get this one to "pulse" the lights and give the option to cler with touch of home key.

No. it basically turns your screen on when you get a notification and shows icons depending on what you have...mail..txt..etc. It keeps the screen on until you check it (i think you can set it on a timer tho). But yeah..its a battery drain.

Has anyone found an app that works? I did find 1 notification app but from what I read, it sucks the battery down cuz it flashes.. can't do a steady light.

There's a link in the thread I started about the application for notification toggles in this sub-forum. As to your question about the text things. Your phone lights up while you're texting? That's kind of normal don't you think. The screen coming on when the text comes in is a stock messaging thing. Nothing that can be done except installing a custom messaging application, as far as I know, I like that it lights up.
