LED notifications in cyanogen v6 (froyo) - Hero CDMA Android Development

I can't seem to get LED notifications working in cyanogens mod..I'm using Handcent and when I go to set up the notifications for it, I click on flash LED but when I go to test it, it doesn't work..anyone know a solution to this?
Thanks

Oh, that's interesting. I think I have a similar issue, but I'm using a nightly from 9/8. I get text LED's, but not e-mail when using K9, unless there's an option in K9 that turns these on/off. FYI, I'm not using handcent.

I get my LED notifications using the AOSP MMS but I can't speak for thrid party apps... double check your system settings (not just the app settings)

Darch rebuilt the LED programming (or so he said) so I don't know. Mine will light up solid, but will not flash. Kinda frustrating, but small potatoes in the large scheme I guess.

My phone also doesnt show the notification LED. I miss having the green LED blinking when I have a missed call or text. Hopefully they can fix this issue.

Ok not to be an ass but do u not read ANY RULES? and yea caps bcuz u guys don't read. This is not Q&A section. There is a huge STICKY THREAD IN ALL CAPS saying this.
Like I said sorry to be like this but the forums are getting overun by posts in the wrong section or just didn't bother searching.

Have you guys gone into handcents settings and changed the LED light to green or orange? I had the same problem but found that the LED was defaulted to a color that our LEDs dont have. Check it and see if it helps.

Thanks!!! Lol yeah actually i just came up with that last nite thought it was a bit more creative than just spouting off how i run froyo... Gives people a visual of wat they're missing haha...

i went into the cm6 settings and setup the led notifications and i went in to each app and did the same and my led still wont blink. it comes on for charging, also it blinks when i test it in the cm6 settings.

Ditto. I asked in the Testing for Hero thread if anyone else was having the same problem last week and got no reply. Running 9/6 nightly.
LED won't blink/flash when a message, email, or missed call is received.

What part of " PLEASE POST "Questions" and "Non ROM developement" THEADS IN THE CORRECT FORUMS" did you not understand? I'm so tired of seeing questions clogging up the dev forum, it's getting ridiculous

Agreed...he isn't new either so either he is just stupid or doesn't pay attention at all.

[LED] CM6 Led Settings Enabled CMParts.apk

http://android.erley.org/CMParts.apk
I've recompiled CMParts from git to enable support for changing the LED Notifications. Just download and install.
Before people go complaining, yes 90% of the settings don't work, and will never work on our phones. That's due to hardware limitations, not software issues. This is here for those that missed that working 10%. Will update with each new CM6 release, as long as I have a hero (being divested to AT&T).

Supposedly? Maybe? It's uninstallable so it wouldn't hurt to try and report back. I built it trying to solve a different issue, that it didn't solve. I figured it might be useful to others (especially those that used this in the nightlies when it was enabled).
okay so maybe i am having a brain fart but how in the hell do you install this i tried doing it from recovery but that didnt work so did i miss something i cant do it from in the phone as well ????

Just install using Astro
I don't think the trackball notifications will work with this, those are still locked. But this will let you change the LED notification settings (color, etc.)
Maybe in the OP we should put a list of working colors, although as far as I know it's just green and orange.

So would that .apk work with CM 6.1? I am still getting a solid color when my notification lights go off, even when I pick the blink frequency within handscent.
Thanks in advance for any help!

That's what they mean.
Notification light within the speaker
Is this what you're referring to?
It only shows up if i have the charger plugged in. Orange when charging and green when charge complete.
Shouldn't this be where your alerts are shown too? I have them set up via this menu:Settings > Display < Notification flash , however i never see any light come on when i have new messages.
Won't work, fascinate had an amoled screen which o believe can turn on individual pixels. The tbolt has an lcd screen which uses a backlight which only lights up the whole screen

He's referring to the backlighting on the soft keys, not the actual touch screen.
This would be great if it's possible. The notification LED is horrible on the TB.
Backlight support, if I remember correctly, has to be built into the kernel... I've only used it with Nero rom on the Samsung Vibrant, never on an HTC device. If you don't like the notification lights on the Thunderbolt, you can download NOLED app from the market... It works well on phones I've tried that have no notification lights like the Nexus S...

Hmmm... never heard of that app. Will check it out. Thanks man!
bumping this hoping its possibile now
now that the source is out
I use an app called "Flashlight Alert" from the market or can be found on the XDA forum.it uses the LED to alert you of email, text, google voice and calls. It's free and doesn't require any additional addons.off that does catch your attention then nothing will. I even used it on my Xoom.
try "missed message flasher" it flashes the backlight whenever you get a new message. it can repeat until you check it or you can set time limits. tons of options and works for all notifications.
If you're rooted there is an app called light flow that works very well. Makes the led notifiers actually serve a purpose.

LED Notifications (G2X App)

I was using this app for my G2X and thought it might be nice if the developer could make it work for the Sensation, since the notification light is so small. I emailed him to see if it was possible. Any interest in this let the developer know.
It's pretty cool, it lights up the bottom four keys and pulses them when you get a message, so when your screen is off you see the white lights blinking. You can set the times and if you want it to fade in and out.

cool app, i used it on my g2x also... think he can make our notification light blink in different colors? probably only green/red/orange... about to try an app I used on my mt4g to see if it works
I am using Gmail Notifier that I loved on my n1. Unfortunately, you can't select colors of the led (even limited choice that we see on the sensation).
I used the other one on my g2x as well but what I really want is to be able to tell which gmail account an email came from by led notification. Fingers crossed for someone to create something like this.

Do you mean the captive buttons? It doesn't work with compatibility checked. Only thing it does is flash the small led on top.
EDIT: Captive buttons do not light in my case. Do I need to check the box labeled screen on as well?
Ok I forgot to mention you have to have temp root and another app to make this work. Its called Light Flow and the way I made it work was having the paid app. I opened up Light Flow, it asked me for root access, I accepted it, then it asked me to turn on Accessibility. So i did and checked Light Flow. Once I did all that, I went back into the app and went to General Settings, clicked direct mode. Once I did that I scrolled a little further down to "Button back light control" and clicked the option "Control-when the screen is off". After that I went into "Notification" clicked "SMS" and scrolled down to "Button backlight LED" and chose "Solid". Now this is where LED me know comes into play.
I opened LED me know and I made sure "Compatability" was checked. I clicked all the services I want like SMS, Missed Calls, and Gmail. Now I clicked the "Notifications" tab and clicked SMS, I chose LED color to whatever I liked (Green) then chose the LED Frequency to Normal, but you can change that. After all that, checked Keyboard and Keyboard blink. Test it and see if it works.
Wow, I just tried the pre-release of LED me know, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13929058&postcount=495 and it asked for root permission. Ever since that, its been working great without having to do all these steps I posted. Can anyone try this method?

LED notification and brightness for stock 2.3.4?

On the new stock 2.3.4 that was just released, there are 2 features I miss greatly.. one is the dimming of the led lights.. and the other is using them as a notification. Has anyone found an app that works? I did find 1 notification app but from what I read, it sucks the battery down cuz it flashes.. can't do a steady light.
Thanks !
Did you try LG Touch LED Notification? It has steady light option.

There's a link in the thread I started about the application for notification toggles in this sub-forum. As to your question about the text things. Your phone lights up while you're texting? That's kind of normal don't you think. The screen coming on when the text comes in is a stock messaging thing. Nothing that can be done except installing a custom messaging application, as far as I know, I like that it lights up.

Notification light doesn't blink after rooting

So I took the plunge and rooted, flashed beans ROM. Loving it so far.

I too am just stock rooted using noxious ninjas method and since seeing this thread i've only had a facebook notification and that is just a solid red, not blinking but i'm not sure about other notifications since I haven't had any yet.... But before I rooted, I could've sworn a FB notification showed up as a kind of purple light and now its just red!?
[Edit] I just sent an email to myself to test the notification and it does blink blue, so it is working and per the comment below, FB wouldn't make it blink anyways.
3rd party apps don't blink the light. Stock apps do.
That stinks that 3rd party apps dont blink. Is that something that can be addressed in future builds??
Any other workaround or mod??

I agree, super annoying. Wish my led would blink for sms and mms, instead of just staying on.
