How to pay android market in USD - Android Apps and Games

I am in USA.
Some of the applications are priced in euro and GBP.
WHen i pay with google checkout my credit card charges me for the conversion.
So , Is there a way to pay just in USD so that i dont get charged extra.
Thanks

Since there are app developers in other countries they have every right to get paid in their home country's currency. If you don't want to pay the conversion fees, don't buy that app

^ He's correct.
You have to pay the conversion fee.

I am not denying that app developers in other countries need to be paid, but just look at other app sites like itunes , you pay in your own currency and the developer gets paid in their currency.
WHy should i pay the bank around 25% of the price of the application

I second this ... there should be a general currency conversion for your selected country EX: if I'm in the states the prices are all configured to USD or if I'm in a place that uses euro the prices are all displayed in euro

I bet the prices would include the conversion fee, a hidden cost...so apps, even though in your country's currency, will be a bit more expensive.
Someone has to take the hit.

If the charge is from your bank, then you should take up this problem with your bank, not the developers or the market. Some banks dont charge a conversion fee, maybe you could switch to one of those.

That was pretty fast from google ;-)

Bought phone on launch..

and paid 200 bucks.. think there is any way i can get att to give me a better deal since i can get it for free at walmart???
From what I read, the only way you can get it for free is if you sign up for an AT&T account that is way higher than standard.
I could be wrong though.
I thgt tht i could get a good discount on my captivate phone, but the sales rep told me at the ATT store that if anyone was eligible for an upgrade it would show automatically on their account.
He said the ATT software runs some "algorithms" based on the prev history, plans etc etc..
The walmart eligibility requires tht u should be on a plan paying $100 or more for month for the past year and no upgrade has been made on the phone over some period, Additional points if u have a lower rate plan.
Bottomline, not everyone can get the phone for free at walmart. Likewise not everyone can get the $50 off on the $199 contract plan.
My phone cost me $199 + $45 (9.25% on the original price of $499) in California. can anyone in CA confirm this?
Thanks

That's what I paid at BB in SoCal
Why would you pay tax on the full price of the phone? I was only taxed for the $200 price. I live in Arizona though, different taxing methods in CA?
That's how Apple does it too. They tax the highest price.
i was only charged tax on the actual purchase price of $199.99 in socal... but then again, this was a manager override because the stores were having issues with the actual pricing when the barcode was scanned...

The sales rep who processed my phone told me tht many times ppl aren't charged the tax while buying the phone but it reflects in the first bill and then they hav customers coming in and demanding explanations from them.
So better watch out for this in the first bill

Same here bro. I paid 143 for it after my 100 discount with an upgrade. The phone was 99.99 and taxes were the rest of the cost which are from the original 499 price.

I think you need to change ur signature now.. change status to "Obtained..."

Captivate(d)
I just ordered it from Walmart as an upgrade on my plan.
They told me it has to be the primary phone if it's a family plan. The secondary lines aren't eligible for the free price. I had the old 550 minutes plan, which I had to change up to 700 minutes. After my discount thru work, it was $8 more than I pay now. Other than that, they told me I just have to maintain that plan for 6 months to avoid charged from them, and I'll get the phone for free.
I guess it could come back from AT&T as a "NO" when they check with them, but I checked 6 ways from Sunday with them and they said I was eligible for any upgrade.
Im in CA too, the tax is just crazy
but one way around it is to get your phone off amazon wireless, which doesnt have tax for CA (yet)
technically your supposed to report that in your taxes but no one does

The only way, I thing, would be to go back to AT&T and use your 30 day money back (except $30 for restocking) and the buy your phone at walmart

exactly what i did.. the guy at the att store told me to call and complain about he 30 restocking fee and they'll credit my account.. free phone will be here thursday!
If you buy it through Amazon wireless, you pay no tax in CA.
You could try bringing in a printout of the deal but as its been pointed out there are a lot of stipulations to get the fee price and you are agreeing that if you change your account they can charge you thee full retail price of the phone.
Ps I work for att

T-Mobile vs Amazon vs Wirefly for Upgrades (Tried all 3)

T-Mobile.com:
+ Can keep your plan
- $325 ridiculous up-front cost ($250 + $50 tax + $18 Upgrade Fee + $6 Shipping) (See attached screenshots)
- $50 Mail-In Rebate hassle
- $50 SENSATION50 promo code box doesn't appear for upgrades, wtf??
Amazon:
+ $179.99, No Tax
+ Free 2-Day Shipping
- $35 Activation Fee
- Can't keep your current plan at all, you MUST choose from the new plans
Wirefly:
+ $179.99, No Tax
+ Free FedEx Shipping
- $18 Activation Fee
? There is a "Keep My Plan" option available but what plan options does it keep if forced to choose a new data plan anyway??
Is there a less expensive way to go about it?
And what the heck is this "Activation Fee" if my account is already active, and why is it more expensive on Amazon?
(See attached pictures)
The activation fee is a joke. T-Mobile has to do zero work to get the phone to work on their network. All we need to do is move a sim from one phone into the other. I wonder if they'll waive the fee if you call t-mo?
I got mine from letstalk for $149.99 with free overnight shipping.
But I am a new customer.

$249 for existing customers
Wow that sucks.
Let'stalk even paid for the california taxes (which would be $50 since smartphones are taxed the full price of the phone in california), so I only paid a total of $149. Seemed like an awesome deal to me.
You cant go wrong with costco... 199 after rebate, you keep your plan and you can exchange the phone for a new one in the next 90 days.
Got my g2x and after me being very disappointed with it - swaped for the sensation.
Plus, they will match the price if it ever goes down (got my g2x for 200 and got 100 back when they started offering the phone for 99)
So id say -costco has the best deals on cell phones. Ever. And to think that I used to get phones from amazon before....
Good luck in your search!

Unfortunately, they force you into the 5 GB plan no matter what, even if you keep your plan:
And they do charge tax too
And they charge the $18 upgrade fee too (see bottom of picture). They just don't add it to the final price.
So it ends up being almost as much as T-Mobile for a total of $315 (free shipping though at least)
Wait, the SENSATION50 promo code doesn't work for upgrades? What the hell?
The $50 “SENSATION50” discount code is valid for new customers, new 2-yr agreements, or for add a line. http://goo.gl/3Jxa1 (Web Only Offer)

The box to put the promo code in just doesn't appear.
It's simply just not there.
So maybe the promo works for upgrades, but you can't actually enter it.
Perhaps someone at T-Mobile forgot about that box?
Walmart! $148.88 + 18 upgrade fee + tax. Keep your plan, no MIR.

Ummm... I kept my unlimited Data plan... I just called in to make sure, and Yes - my unlimited Data is still active!
Try your local Costco, its different when you deal with a live person. They tried to sell me the 5GB, but they couldnt. I said that that would be the day that i move to ATT, cause thats the only thing keeping me with tmobile, since their signal at my house is just... missing in action
So try the local store, they can work with you better than the website.

I think the 149 upgrade price expired yesterday.
I asked T-Mobile about the promotion and the rep didn't seem to have a clue about it...
~Tracy W: I am not finding anything in regards to a promotion code, what I would recommend is calling our sales department at 1-800-672-5390
I asked a rep from Amazon and they said that you can keep your $10 data plan and you don't actually need the $30 one.. you can switch it at any time.
Also, I think you clicked 'new plan' instead of existing plan, I get a different checkout page.. see attachment
Hey Paul you should try checking craigslist. I got mine brand new for $365 yesterday. Might be worth a shot instead of paying up to 325 and having to use your upgrade.
Nope, got mine using my full upgrade today for 148.88 + tax at walmart. but the deal only works I'm store though I think.

[Q] is there any way to avoid taxes for market sales?

I don't mind paying devs for hard work, I do mind a lot paying an parasitic and oppressive government by purchasing apps. I live in the Netherlands, is there anyway to avoid paying the sales tax on sales in the market?
(interestingly taxed are not applied to all apps)
no one has an idea?

As user when you buy an app you dont pay any taxes, as developer from the money that the user pay you get an amount around 80% and the other 20% goes to google, but its on your country's laws if you must pay taxes for that money and how much.

[Q] German Developer - Taxes, Business

Hello,
first of all I am from Germany. I am an 18-years-old student and want to sell my apps on the WP Marketplace. I've already entered my banking information on the App Hub.
Now my questions are:
Do I have to register a business in Germany to be able to sell apps on the Marketplace?
How will I have to pay taxes? Is it only the taxes in Germany?
I know that I also have to send the W-8BEN form to Micorsoft.
Thanking you in anticipation!
as student (University not school) your are allowed to earn a specific amount without paying taxes (I don't know the exact amount).
Otherwise you may need a trade Certificate (Gewerbeschein) which you can get at any district administration for like 20€ or something. and there. There is also a tax allowance where you don't pay anything.
Just google "Kleingewerbe".
Ok thank you, that really helped me!

UK Price

Hi guys,
I stay in the UK and it seems the Nexus 5 is quite a lot more expensive than it is in the US.
The 16GB model in the US costs USD 349 and that should translate base on exchange rates to be GBP 235. However it costs GBP 299 in the UK Play Store. That is 64 pounds more!
Do you think it would be wise to order it in the US and then get it shipped over to my UK address? Potentially how much would I save if any at all? Not in a complete rush to get the phone.
Thank you!
You will probably be ended up paying for cause if you import from us you will face import duty fees

$299 does not include the different sales tax that states have to pay which can vary, the UK price does include the VAT which we pay @ 20% so £299 - 20% = £239
Don't complain. I paid 700$ just for the 16 GB model in my country and delivery in december. Im happy anyway.
price in US not include taxes thats why seems lower
Add Tax from each different state in America. Plus import duties at the border. You probably pay even more Tbh.

Without VAT: £299 / 1.2 = roughly £249
249GBP is roughly 399USD
So we still pay a premium, but it's not AS bad. (£280 for the nexus 4 was obviously fairer though).
