The question is pretty vague. If by blur, you mean blurhome, then yes you can. If by blur, you mean anything with the name blur, then no.

Specififically, system/app/blurhome.apk to bak.

Yes you can but why would you just clear the data from blur home and run launcherpro. Its a very good idea just in case you have to wipe data and your unable to rename the blur apk.

ADW with stock app drawer...

Is this possible? I'm asking because I like everything about ADW exvept the drawer, it's just too choppy for me the bear, whereas stock is incredibly smooth..
Thanks in advance
Use launcherpro.

Doesn't launcher pro modify the drawer aswell?

yes. ADW is the closest as you can get to stock. modify the settings, i have it on 4D vertical and never noticed lag
Well, using the 4d setting grants me a choppy version of the stock drawer...
May I ask why all launchers modify the drawer, why not let it be?

well somethings wrong with your phone / firmware and you need to seriously do something about it. mines is smooth as butter.

Sorry for my blunt response. I was thinking of launcher pro's 3d app drawer which is as smooth and graphically close to stock 2.3 as possible. But I forgot that it does not run smooth on the nexus s. I had it on my nexus one.

I've practically tried all ROM's and kernels possible, not for this purpose though. And no matted what I used, the ADW drawer is choppy. And then I go back to stock launcher or replace ADW when on CM, and it's always incredivbly smooth...
So I guess there isn't a way to use stock drawer with ADW? And if that's the case, why?

From what the Op described, there's nothing wrong with his phone. Mine is the same way with adw, and what he's experiencing is a well known issue with adw itself.

I have yet to have any difficulties with ADW. It has been smooth as butter since day one.
But the world isn't revolved around me.
So there is no way to modify ADW to make it use stock drawer instead of the one in ADW?

Maybe you can contact the developer of ADW? That might help

Might be cool to just have icons and no name under icons..

So i was thinking it might look really clean to be able to erase the app name under the icons and just have icons.... Maybe we can get a developer to work on this? Anyone else like this idea?
I think GOlauncher gives you that option.

Try Launcher Pro, there is an option there too.

You can do it for the homescreen icons with an app like Desktop Visualizer but doing it that way for ALL homescreen icons is a PITA too.
Adw ex does it.

Sense is not customizable, launchers are. If customizing and changing settings is a pia... well that's what the i*hone is for right ;-)
I recommend adw. You can make it look identical to sense if you like the look, and it has that option.

my rosie is modded to the t. transparent app drawer, my name on all apps bar, cyan text color. its not easy but possible. to remove the names under the apps you just change the text color value to #00000000. full transparency. you need a knowledge of apktool and decompiling and compiling

That's more of a pita then just downloading a new launcher and hitting the setting to remove the labels.

Did I add you have to be really smart?
Just saying sense is customizable. Once you know it it really doesn't take that much time or effort. The phone is designed to run sense. It just makes sense

I never said it wasn't customizable, but the OP doesn't want to have to do anything that is a "pita" and/or takes too much time.

All he did was ask if it could be done and if others would be interested. He likes the stock look of Sense and probably being able to use Sense widgets, which cannot be done with ADW or LP. Calm down there big boy, take some deep breaths, everything will be ok.

No, you are definitely not sol. Just use "better cut" or "desktop visualizer" and delete the names of the apps on your homescreens. Very simple and can be done in under 5 min.

[Q] Fitting more icons on home screen

This is probably a newb question, but I wasn't able to find it through searching: Is there a way to fit more icons on the screen in Touchwiz (like maybe a 5x5 layout w/ 5 apps in the dock like the Galaxy Note)? Or would I need to use a new launcher?
I know Go Launcher has this feature, but it didn't resize the icons/widgets. So some of the icons ended up overlapping each other on the screen. I don't mind Touchwiz. Just thought I'd take advantage of the extra real estate of the screen.
Touchwiz 4.5 (modified Touchwiz) has this feature, stock does not

Not by default, but you can tell it to resize when moving the phone from portrait to landscape.
Just click on settings/preferences/screen settings/auto-fit items.
I've found I actually prefer 4x4 though. It works better with some of my larger widgets. And makes my full-page sized Calendar easier to read.

Wow. This is pretty awesome. I sort of dismissed it in the store before because I thought it was an actual launcher. Thanks for pointing this one out.

[Q] Launcher

quick question.
So I'm rooted and enjoying the freedom but have a few other questions.
Has anyone installed a custom launcher (Nova) yet? What has been your experience?
If I install a Nova launcher do I lose all the Sense widgets, etc? what are the downsides?

If you use BlinkFeed you can't get that on a custom launcher (no way that I know of at least) and you also can't use HTC widgets.

okay, thanks. I'm really not liking the square app folder icons. I'm so used to the round, stacked view. Is there anyway to change the folder previews with the stock launcher?

There not so bad if you make them transparent. I believe the stock launcher is the best. My opinion of course.

AOSP Gallery? Is there such a thing?

I don't like Google Photos nor do I use it. But I have to use it as a gallery with its crappy sorting.
So I was wondering if an AOSP gallery was a thing anymore? If so where can I get it?
Everytime I ask for a gallery people talk about QuickPic which is owned by Cheetah Mobile which is known for stealing people's information so there's no way anything of theirs is getting on my phone. I'd rather have something official by Google or by a trusted developer.
Thanks
man I'm thinking the same thing. I use this gallery app from play store, but i don't like it. I'd rather a stock aosp gallery!

It is a rather good and functionnal one too.
You can use the HTC Gallery and you can also try the Moto Gallery.
This one is cool, you can set the background color and modify the accent color to what you want. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobiletools.gallery
