Timescape & Mediascape apk? - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

A thought crossed my mind yesterday, if we can extract the TS and MS APKs could it allow us to install them on other devices. Also when 2.1 is out, install it on other 2.1 devices?
Not a lot of 1.6 devices left out there now so might not be so easy to try.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App

sorry but why would anyone else want them?
i only use MediaScape because it is the default music player even then i turn off all the exra crap and it still dose not work as well as generic Android Music Player
but it may be possible but quite difficule as alot of TS and MS use other apks so we could have to copy alot over not just two stand alone apks

I don't think timescape will port easily because its built into the framework. (Not impossible I'm sure) afaik mediascape is already tested and working on some other devices.
Btw some of us like mediascape. ^^

Why I ask is cause TS and MS are a major part of the SE user experience, and if that can be ported to other phones then having an Xperia can be had anywhere, kinda like sense UI and touch flo

Its all software so with the correct work yes it can be moved
i think we will have more fun with any new apps or widgets SE make
any one intrested in a RemotePlay app, i want one.

Im a Epic user and love X10 ui if x10 had amoled screen I woulda bought it instead of epic.
Can someone post a mediascape apk so I can try it on epic?
Thanx in advance.

I already tried to install on a vanilla 2.1 ROM from jerpelea & zdzihu. It's not possible, you get the "could not be installed on this device" blabla
while it was digged in pretty deep into the OS in 1.6, they didn't do this in the 2.1 update and it's now just a normal application. So i think it will be portable to other devices when someone with experience is willing to modify the apk.
Cheers

You could try extracting the Mediascape/timescape apk's from a X10 running 2.1
You will need to update it to the nordic or indian firmware, english is included. Look around on the forums here as to how to update to 2.1
I have updated to 2.1, if anyone knows how to extract the apk's tell me and I will try.

I think you can just use titatnium backup (which is available free on the market) to make a backup of the app. then use your computer to go to the titanium backup folder on your phone and copy the apk off it.

As someone mentioned porting from 2.1 is a headache.
But porting timescape from arc is a piece of cake.
Any timescape fans wana use it lemme knw

[REQ] Froyo 2.2 Keyboard APK

Self explanatory. Was wondering is someone could port it from 2.2 and make it available.
[where you swipe up to see the #s....
really....
yes really. I would like it is as well.
????
really.....?
Just install Froyo. Tada!
I have an EVO. I would really like this keyboard. Nothing is doing it for me right now, HTC keyboard sucks, swype is good but i want something that works well with two hands.
thanks!
....really???
I'd pull it from my phone if I knew where it was located.
Doesn't work with not-Froyo.
Yes, really. I too hate the HTC IME keyboard. If we're asking for something that's been posted somewhere else...(I searched, and couldn't find it) please tell us. But I really miss the stock froyo keyboard, and I'm running the Team Chaos froyo rom for the moto droid.
Thanks in advance.
ho-hum
This, apparently...
Ooglez said:
I've already pulled it and tried it. It targets the API level 8 (Android 2.2) and wont install on 2.1. If someone were to take the source and modify the Manifest, then maybe we'd be in luck, but we have no source yet, so it's not likely to happen.

(from /showthread.php?t=692094)
I'm running 2.2, but can't find the .apk for it. The only one I can find has been modified for 2.1 and FC's constantly.
I don't know why everyone is such an ass about this... I am used to the stock android 2.2 keyboard, and am on a Desire ROM... I would also like the .apk from the standard froyo rom.
Is that really too much to ask? This community is for everyone to coexist and help eachother.. not to be snobs and make rude comments when other members ask fo something so small. Just because you wouldn't use it, doesn't mean that another member has no use for it. If you have nothing nice to say, gtfo and troll on another forum.
I don't know what the .apk is even named, or I would pull it from one of the many roms that I have downloaded. Can anyone provide something other than some bs reply?
Cannot attach a link on my n1 but it is called latinime.Apk in /system/app/
here's the keyboard unmodified.
Thanks guys!! VERY appreciated.
From my Nexus One Froyo FRF91..there are 2 files.
LatinImeGoogle.apk and LatinImeGoogle.odex
I have zipped them all.
Kind soul..please help to de-odex and put them all back to single apk package.

Done!
For all that care:
1. Download the keyboard: http://www.mediafire.com/file/k9hiq8xg4fcl8ie/LatinIME.apk
2. Put on SD Card
3. Install via appmonster or other .apk installer
4. Enjoy!

The one I posted was already deodexed.
Got it working
The APK file posted by Geo411m did not work for me (wouldn't install), but the one linked to by midnightslide did the trick. After following the instructions the Android keyboard began appearing in keyboard options and I was able to select it by long-tapping in a text input area. Voice input functioned as expected.
This was useful as the FroyoStone desire-based ROM for HD2 released on the 7th didn't include the stock keyboard, and the keyboard included did not have voice input functionality.

[APP] 1.6 keyboard ported to 2.1+ (ARMv6 needs investigating - ARMv7)

Hi folks,
This is the port of the sexy keyboard you used to use in 1.6
thanks to realunited123 for the efforts making it work on 2.1
thanks to pvyParts for telling that a lib is necessary for this but is missing from 2.2+
go ahead and press the thanks button for them
Thread in general section
DOWNLOAD and flash with ANY recovery as you wish
There you will find a version that supposed to work on ARMv6. Please test it if possible! Thanks!
Your actual libiwnn will be backed up to /system/lib/libiwnn.so.bak when you flash that zip
Looks like the ARMv6 lib is not functional. If you can provide me another one, that would be great!
The lib for ARMv6 is fine. However, the keyboard doesn't work, so logcats would be appreciated. Thank you!
MD5 of ARMv6 libiwinn.so:
Code:
e634eb6dbf632cb477869cedece2d002
See attached images for yourself
Put the apk in System/Apps and set permissions, reboot and it could be OK. Not sure, but should work!
Use rootexplorer to move the apk!
@PlayGunsta
doesn't work
even if I removed the original 2.1 keyboard
Yes I also tried on Froyo, but still... I don't have any idea :/
Does it require any additional libs to work? If that's the case I think it will be hard to port to other roms.
Sent from my X10
thats one thing I don't know, this is why I want someone else who knows smali to do this.
But afaik there are deeper implementations in 1.6 of SE's UXP, so maybe.
I think it's just compiled for an older version of android and so it can't work. I really doubt that it uses any weird libs to work and is just a normal apk. I would be very cheerfull if anyone could port it cause i love the old keyboard too
Sent from my X10i EWJet using XDA App
Howdy guys,
to me this seems like half a app... there is no classes.dex
hence no smali. i not done anything with 1.6 but seams strange to me, maybe there is another apk that goes with it ? or it uses part of android 1.6 as part of itself.
i'll keep looking tho maybe we get lucky.
Pvy.
could that missing part be an .odex file?

LOL I forgot that stock roms are odexed. So yes it is the .odex that is missing.. Can you please post that too ?
Also we will need the framework folder to deodex it. So we need the framework folder , the SemcIME.apk and SemcIME.odex..
that's what I afraid of :/
the motherboard of my PC is short-circuited and is in service, so I can't flash back to 1.6 unless there is a xRec flashable one.
Maybe use xrecov and fix perms
?

OK, I will search for a X10 1.6 FW then...
there are plenty of them, but afaik the AT&T ones have got only android defult keyboard. Another operators' should be fine.

Worked on Ericks 2.1 didn't on CM7 so don't know if it will work on custom roms
Awesome *-*
Works like a charm and looks soooooo sexy
And the best thing is that it doesn't conflict with 2.1 SE keyboard
I hope you can make it to work in 2.2+, because this looks so damn good

On 2.3 it FCs on selecting it. Needs a bit of work but i think it can be done
On 2.2.1 it gives me the error it needs an extra lib. libiwnn.so.
Any one have/kno of a 1. 6 deodexed that I can have a look at

[Q]GalaxyS Framework attached, someone make it compatible for X10?

Attached I have are the frameworks from the Captivate and Galaxy S devices.
i am building a rom and really want to use these frameworks. I have tried to use them and create the framework-res.apk, but from some reason the rom does not boot.
When I install these as themes after booting they work.
So can please someone take these frameworks and please help me make them compatible with the X10. I would appreciate it a lot!
Thanks a lot everybody!
gonna give this thread a bump

[Q] Is it possible to add the Theme manager from CM7 to a stock r800x?

From what I've attempted, the CM7 roms are a bit unstable, or missing key features for me (BT, Wifi, or other things) anyways, I've got root on the 2.3.3 stock rom and would like to add just the theme manager to my device, is this possible?
it is possible but alot of framework editing is needed.
When I had x8 someone named dioxiah ported the theme engine to Froyo so it is possible I would say just alot needs to be edited.
Porting the T-Mobile theme engine to a diffrent version of android is a million miles away from porting it to an OEM version of android. For starters every manufacturer mods the framework in there own way, they move files around and even remove them and add files to there own framework (semcGenericUxpRes.apk) in sonys case.

However the R800X comes without the semc frameworks and customizations. It has a very basic bone stock android build. Hence why none of the themes for the other phones work on it.
It would be nice to have the theme engine working on the R800X, it is the only thing I really miss from CM7.

I don't think it'll be that easy. You'll need the source for both the theme engine and the R800X 2.3.3 update to get it compiled and working.
All I really want is an ICS theme, however none of the metamorphs theme the full system, and I am to lazy to do the theming manually myself.
