[REQ] Froyo 2.2 Keyboard APK - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Self explanatory. Was wondering is someone could port it from 2.2 and make it available.
[where you swipe up to see the #s....

really....

yes really. I would like it is as well.

????
really.....?

Just install Froyo. Tada!

I have an EVO. I would really like this keyboard. Nothing is doing it for me right now, HTC keyboard sucks, swype is good but i want something that works well with two hands.
thanks!

....really???

I'd pull it from my phone if I knew where it was located.

Doesn't work with not-Froyo.

Yes, really. I too hate the HTC IME keyboard. If we're asking for something that's been posted somewhere else...(I searched, and couldn't find it) please tell us. But I really miss the stock froyo keyboard, and I'm running the Team Chaos froyo rom for the moto droid.
Thanks in advance.

ho-hum
This, apparently...
Ooglez said:
I've already pulled it and tried it. It targets the API level 8 (Android 2.2) and wont install on 2.1. If someone were to take the source and modify the Manifest, then maybe we'd be in luck, but we have no source yet, so it's not likely to happen.

(from /showthread.php?t=692094)

I'm running 2.2, but can't find the .apk for it. The only one I can find has been modified for 2.1 and FC's constantly.

I don't know why everyone is such an ass about this... I am used to the stock android 2.2 keyboard, and am on a Desire ROM... I would also like the .apk from the standard froyo rom.
Is that really too much to ask? This community is for everyone to coexist and help eachother.. not to be snobs and make rude comments when other members ask fo something so small. Just because you wouldn't use it, doesn't mean that another member has no use for it. If you have nothing nice to say, gtfo and troll on another forum.
I don't know what the .apk is even named, or I would pull it from one of the many roms that I have downloaded. Can anyone provide something other than some bs reply?

Cannot attach a link on my n1 but it is called latinime.Apk in /system/app/

here's the keyboard unmodified.

Thanks guys!! VERY appreciated.

From my Nexus One Froyo FRF91..there are 2 files.
LatinImeGoogle.apk and LatinImeGoogle.odex
I have zipped them all.
Kind soul..please help to de-odex and put them all back to single apk package.

Done!
For all that care:
1. Download the keyboard: http://www.mediafire.com/file/k9hiq8xg4fcl8ie/LatinIME.apk
2. Put on SD Card
3. Install via appmonster or other .apk installer
4. Enjoy!

The one I posted was already deodexed.

Got it working
The APK file posted by Geo411m did not work for me (wouldn't install), but the one linked to by midnightslide did the trick. After following the instructions the Android keyboard began appearing in keyboard options and I was able to select it by long-tapping in a text input area. Voice input functioned as expected.
This was useful as the FroyoStone desire-based ROM for HD2 released on the 7th didn't include the stock keyboard, and the keyboard included did not have voice input functionality.

Another person on the forums are looking into this. The xml files that contain the animation data seem to be encoded or encrypted in some way so until we can modify them we can't do anything just yet.
Well, for the short of it, adjusting the boot animations (like the Sprint logo or the Hero animated gifs) shouldn't be much harder than creating a new animated gif, packaging it up inside a zip under the /system/media/bootscreen/ directory (see chuckhriczko's mod in the first post of this thread for a good example), and installing it.
Customizing the actual animations, meaning the way things like menus or new screens fade/slide/grow/etc both in and out, that's a whole new, and fairly complicated ball game. Customizing the XML files themselves actually isn't that difficult. Packaging them up is.
I have more research and testing to do, but the general idea is that you write out your custom animation sequence in plain text XML. However, android expects this XML to be in a customized binary format when it reads it from the apk file. To do that, you need to package the apk and sign it through the android tools. The plug-in for Eclipse can do this, and supposedly so can aapt though I couldn't get it to serialize the XML when I tried earlier. So essentially, an entire repackage of the framework-res.apk file is necessary to have your own custom animation sequences within the UI.
Once I learn more I'll try to post a thread about it. I'll post it in Themes and Apps (seems appropriate) but link it here.
Thanks chuckhriczko!

I believe that this will have to be redone using the MR that came out yesterday. not sure, but the .apk files are probably different.

Installed on Fresh Rom .4. Phone is noticeably faster, love it! Thanks!
This is superb the fasted my Hero has ran Thank you much chuckhRiczko
Works lovely but I can't seem to change my lock wallpaper... is that because of the new lock screen? I believe I was able to change it previously even w/ the addons... another thing that I'm not sure is related to these addons or not is that I can't seem to do a PRL update. I'm gettin a Error code 1012... anyone else getting that error?
Thank you SO MUCH!!! This thread deserves a sticky since it can be added on to many custom roms!
I just flashed Fresh ROM .5d and tossed the extras on top. LOVE the quick and simple boot, LOVE the new bolder lock screen and I LOOOVE how my hero FLIES now, and the animations make it so much cooler!!!!
This weekend has been great for Hero owners!

AOSP 1.6- Working themes, launchers, icons, etc...

So I am having a heck of a time searching and searching for extras that work with quites 1.6 AOSP build. Specifically the nexus launcher. Figured it would be a great idea to start a thread that included these extra features. Please link it up, appreciate the help.

Maybe so......
Ya, your both probably right, but after a while of looking and looking I was lost. Thanks for these links, I have seen them both but guess I was hoping for a bit more clarity. Thanks either way, I really do appreciate the knowledge.

AOSP 1.6 or even Gbhil's 1.6 ROMs both should have the Nexus one launcher. Otherwise, if you want, I can link the Nexus One launcher itself, just know it'll replace SenseUI.

I don't know why you would have been presented with those problems. Anyways, here's the file -- to install:
**NANDROID BACKUP FIRST!!**
1. Download file
2. Copy file AS IS to the SD Card
3. Reboot into recovery
4. Select the file from "Flash update" screen
5. Reboot phone

Also, I don't like those old fashion calculator+camera icons

okay first i am unsure why the dialer does that for you mine works fine (also included a screenshot)
and for the icons that you do not like just replace them with the apk's from cyanogenmod
and if you wanted to i could just throw those 2 apk's into a flash-able zip later if i have time (it's my birthday today so i won't have much time in the day pretty much now and later tonight) and my HDD is failing so i've also gotta replace the HDD and restore my data to the new one which i
and sorry for all the excuses
but easy way to do it yourself take my zip extract it with winrar or other
get cyanogen mod zip extract the apk's you want from it
put them in my zip in /system/app and replace the old ones and rezip the two original folders and reflash
A) Awesome, nice work
B) Nice to see you themeing again, we apparently have similar tastes
C) Not really a shameless plug since I'm giving it away, but I did an LP dock, dead on Droid X style. The thread is here.
D) Happy Birthday!

Ohh, Happy Birthday
I think the problem with the Dialer is with the contacts with long names. I noticed any of my current contacts with short names (included in the Pic -2nd post and noticed in your reply with Pic) are ok. However when the name goes long, it overlaps, it is like trying to go over the outgoing arrow indicator and the Redial arrow as well. Can you noticed that?
Also, strange thing is that it only happens in the call log window, I dont see that going on in the contact list...
Anyway, happy blessings in your BDay, dont get drunk and messup with signing broken zips. LOL J/k..
Full of win.
I'll try to post more screenshots soon:
Only issues I have seen so far are the above mentioned problems in the call log, and the browser bug in the attached screenshot.
Thanks so much.

One Click Rom/Theme Optimizer and Signer

This tool will open any AOSP based rom or theme (as long as the file structure is correct) and optimize and zip align everything.
Simply grab your rom or theme and place it in this folder (should work from anywhere but you need to full path from where the cmd file is run). Now click on the reopto_runner.cmd and it will ask you where the rom is (name) that you want to optomize, type the name of the rom and hit enter, it will do the rest.
Final output of the re-optimized (double pass with 2 different png optimizers) rom will be named rom-optoed-signed-finished.zip this will be exactly the same rom except the script will optomize every png in every apk found in the system/app and system/framework-res.apk. It will also zipalign all these same apks and finally will sign the zip file. When its done just rename the rom-optoed-signed-finished.zip to what ever you want and its ready to flash.
What this won't do is make your zip file (rom, theme, update zip) flashable unless its already set up to be flashable... meaning you'll still need your update-script in the com.google.android folder to be there. Its does sign your zip file for you though.
I put this out there as its some of the scripting and tools I have made to help me in theming and rom hacking.
Feel free to use any part of this to help you in any scripting you do.
Sweet, you are the man. Going to try it out now.

I have only tried this method on AOSP based roms the script should work on any rom or theme or update zip that follow this structure in the top level. system/app/*apk and system/framework/framework-res.apk, which is pretty much all of them.
The script takes about 10 minutes or so to run on cm6 rom and is really quick on most of the themes here. So for instance you could use it to make sure or re optimize a theme or roms.
feel free to tire it apart and use it in other fashions. I can guarantee it will shave some about of space of any rom or theme along with the zip aligning of every apk. If its a short request I'll post some more automated tiny scripts to todo various stuff.

Thank you for the praise, wife been complaining about doing stuff for free so I might have to post my pay pal account with a wife complaining button.
I might just release a script that does it for you. mdpi to mdpi (or hdpi to hdpi) no matter what rom is fairly easy todo. Of course it can only theme what it can match but it will do it for you.
For a more in depth description would take some time so I'll probably have to do it some time later.

maybe but he should have done the png opto and zipaligning already. I do add another png opto that most people dont do which will squeeze out another couple of kb, was able to shrink cm6 by 16 or so kb, which doesnt seem like alot but every bit counts.
You could use it to just see, like whenever you d/l a new rom run this on it and compare the file size, or load the rom and run a linpack and then opto it and then reload it and then do a linpack and see what you get. Some themers don't zipalign there themes and don't opto there pngs, and I have yet to see anyone use optipng and the other png opto program i use as a double pass system of optimizing pngs.
I like to use it for my themes or roms as it automates the hole process. Try it out if you use it on a rom it will give you a new optoed copy that is already sign and ready to flash... one click

Sounds good . Of course, when you say "every rom" you only mean AOSP roms, right? I'd suppose it wouldn't be able to rip, for instance, Nfinite's latest rooted Stock ROM apart and png optimize/zipalign it? If it could, holy crap. On top of the fact I use Odex, that would be amazing.

should work on that to since it only looks at pngs and apk. it will onyl zip align the framework-res.apk and the system/app apk's. Actually try it out I never have but it should work.
remember to nand before you flash it but you should be a ok, as I can't see any reason why it would work.

Hmm. But will I see a difference? Doesn't HTC have their own specific framework-res apk? I'd love to get into ROM themeing, so I've been poking around the ROMs for some time now.

/r/ 2.3.6 Keyboard

Hi everyone! If you're not familiarized with the 4chan boards, /r/ means a request.
So, i want to know if anybody knows if there's a way to get the keyboard that we had in Gingerbread 2.3.6
Man, i used to love that keyboard, perfect size, not lag (Yea, i've noticed some lag in the 4.0.4 keyboard), nice color.
I don't want to go back to 2.3.6, but, if it's neccesary to port the app, i'll do it anyway
PS: I found one, it name was 'q-ime.apk' but can't install it. I copied it to system/app, -rw-r-r but, no effect.

I don't want to go back to 2.3.6, but, if it's neccesary to port the app, i'll do it anyway
PS: I found one, it name was 'q-ime.apk' but can't install it. I copied it to system/app, -rw-r-r but, no effect.

I don't think it'll work. If you decompile the apk and look at the manifest, you can see the target sdk which is 7 (2.1) I believe. We're up to 17 now (4.2)
I think there are too many api changes and the apk would have to be recompiled with a newer api to be compatible. Which by then, would probably change it to more like what we have and defeat the purpose.
I will say, that I'm out of my depth here, so don't take my word as gospel, I could be way off. I just know that when apks are built, they usually have a target sdk and a minimum sdk which is what version of android the apk is built for, and the lowest version it will run on.
