May be the wrong forum. But is there currently a cable that plugs into the mini USB port which can charge and handle audio out simultaneously? I'm looking for a non-bluetooth one-cable car solution.
Any usb cord can charge & handle audio at the same time. I have my pioneer deck in my truck that has a usb input, so i just run the stock usb cord to the input and mount my sd card to the deck like you would with a computer and the deck plays the music and the phone charges. You can even make calls and text and do everything as normal on the phone while the deck plays the music from the sd card. The only thing ive noticed is if your ringtone is on the sd card, because its mounted ot the deck when you get a call it will be a stock ringtone that rings because the sd card isnt availible to the device because its mounted.
Hope this helps.
There's no audio out on Nexus through USB. You can mount the SD card to stereo system that is capable of reading USB sticks, as suggested above.

I need to plug a headset in (the 3 in one adapter actually) and have it run the audio to my car stereo (via the 3.5 audio out). But I want the internal mic to still work. Is this possible?

Hi All,
I just got the phone and love it but would like to be able to play my music from my SD card over my stereo without having to mount it as a usb drive, basically be able to use the usb plug to charge and carry audio over and being able to control it from the phone not the stereo itself.
When I had my iPhone I was able to put it in "iPod by hand mode" which would let me switch songs via the phone and not the stereo controls and I could also play Pandora over it as well and I would love to have this functionality back.
Thanks!
Im wondering if there is any kind of program which virtualize a usb masstorage unit with one single track so I can plug it into my car audio usb port, play that track, and change all the songs through my tablet or phone?
Thanks!!!
So I got micro to usb adapter and I already use a keyboard on it. However, to connect more than one device I read that I need a powered usb hub. Is this true? And also, because the mic only works with a headphone/mic jack, could i plug an external soundcard into my adapter and then plug a standard headset with a mic cord and a headphone cord in and use it?
What do I need to do to get all these to work on my fire?
1) Mulitple usb devices connected and working
2) A regular headset with a seperate mic and headphone jack
3) A mouse for my Fire
4) A bluetooth usb dongle to enable bluetooth
5) A webcab for skype.
6) A usb drive for extra memory
And I almost forgot to say I got it rooted, if that makes a difference.
Hey I heard with lollipop we would have USB audio. When I connect my nexus 5 to my car through a USB cable and play some music it doesn't play from the car speakers. Whereas an iPhone was able to play music. Any help on how to make it work would be appreciated.
Probably your car audio needs a software upgrade to work with Android devices/L's USB DAC support.
Your car is looking for a file system, android USB audio is providing stream not a file system so this probably wont work unless the deck can emulate a small sound card or something to accept the input.
