I originally wrote Frame me for my Hero and released it under the Hero forums. Since it should work on any phone I though I would add a thread here as well. I only have my Hero to test with so if you have something other than a Hero I would love to hear your feedback.
In short, Frame me is a 1x1 widget of a photo that enlarges to full screen when clicked. Here are a few features:
Now working with the Atrix external SDCard
1x1, 1x2, 2x1, 2x2 Widgets
full screen image when clicked
multiple widgets supported
selectable picture frames
Crop image when selecting
Full widget preview on your background
Click on one widget - Fling to the others
Click on widget and fling through images in user selected directory
timed rotation of widget image in directory mode
Reconfigure existing widgets
Atrix external SDCard support
Frameless image
My Application website is at: http://deanstudios.net/dev/frameme
More details can be found at the site above or in the Hero App thread, HERE. FrameMe is available as a free download on the Hero thread. However, If you enjoy it and wish say thanks, it is also in the market for $0.99. Below are a few screenshots give you an idea. Click one of the links above to read the details or download. Thanks for taking a look!!

Nicely done! I can confirm it works flawlessly on my HTC Desire!
Oh, and I noticed you are experiencing a lag on the first launch, not a problem here!
Keep up the good work 41!
awesome! thanks dev, working grate on droid1 UD 8.0.0 so far.
Can I use the web picture instead of local on my sdcard? If not, I would really appreciate that!

Thanks combatdan! The lag, I am sure, is due to the processor in my Hero. It isn't horrible, just more than it was with a single image (or a single widget, I keep 4 up).

I hadn't actually thought of this. I will add it to the wish list. This is my first venture into android so it takes me a little bit of time to get my head around some of the APIs. I like the idea though.

I am currently in a foreign country in the middle of adopting our 4th child. I don't know that I can offer a timeline for much of anything. I have so other items to work on first but I will consider. It may also depend on how many others show interest in a web option.

Just letting you know, version 1.1.2 has just been released. Includes a minor change to the directory option (thumbnails now show when clicked) and 7 new frames. More information through the links in the OP.
Okay everyone version 1.2.0 is out and ready to be enjoyed. There were significant layout and code changes to this one so if you find a bug PLEASE let me know. Especially you guys on hdpi devices. So, here is the short list of changes:
Full widget preview on your own background during the widget configuration
Simplified layout (easier for me to add frames)
Reconfigurable widgets, press menu while widget is full screen for widget settings.
Graphical frame selection – awwww pretty!
Bug fixes – pesky bugs
Code performance improvements
Enjoy! Links are updated on the original post.
The application works wonderfully but the 1x1 widget is almost impossible to see anything. Is there any chance in the future update of size 2x2.
Yes, a 2x2 is on my to-do list. I originally wrote this for my own use and the 1x1 is what I needed and couldn't find. I have had several requests for a 2x2 and am currently working on it.
Glad you like it!!
I love the APP!
Im not sure why but on my LG Ally the pictures dont sit inside the frame, they sit under and outside the frame a little to the bottom right corner.... like if you used a drop shadow in photoshop. not sure if that helps explain what I meen...

Hi Rookie4life, I know what you are talking about. That should have been solved in version 1.2.1. Actually, that was the reason I put out 1.2.1. What version do you have installed? Links in the Hero form (available in OP) should be updated for the latest version. If this is still happening with 1.2.1 then I will have to look into it some more.
ahhh... yes i have 1.2.0
i must have missed the link for 1.2.1
I will have to look again. thank you for you quick response
Perfectly simple app! I love it. Thank you for creating it! I'm going to go d/l the donate version now.

Great app! Thank you! Trying it out!
Using this on the EVO, when I click on the "Dir Enable" then save, when I click on the picture widget I get a force close.
great app i purchased...
Can you change the options besides 1x1? When i resize on the phhone they look pixilated (which is expected)

Hi Vegasden, do you click on the text "click here to set dir" and choose a directory or just press save after clicking the check box? Either way it shouldn't FC. I will look and see if I can determine where that happens. Let me know if you are also setting a directory path.

I have just released an application CopyAndPaste in alpha release onto the market if anyone would like to try it out.
The application is one way of solving the issue of selecting text in android. There are a lot of bugs to be worked on, but the main problem is the inaccuracy of the OCR engine. If enough people find the app useful then I will continue to update it and possibly make it open source.

multi-touch handles
landscape mode
load on startup of phone
Changelog
v2.1
small fixes
v2.0
Major fixes for all phones (thanks to Napalm)

more settings
apps 2 sd
minor bug fixes
new toggle dock button
video added

Thanks for testing it out, and I am glad it worked. I will work on a settings menu so that there are options for the status bar and delay time.
Thanks for the feedback and ratings in the market. I have decided to continue development on this application and I am working on an update to fix some small issues right now.
For the people who could not get it to work, please check that you have given the app superuser permissions and let me know if it is still not working.
Works pretty well so far. Some suggestions
Make it so instead of launching from the notification bar, launch from long press search.
Make it so you can select to the edges
Make it easy to completely quit
Might think of more later

Your welcome, and thank you for trying it out. How did you find the application?
Just added another update:
1) completely re-designed the handles now they work in 4 way directions and you can use them without covering the center with your finger. 2) fixed some force close issues people were having.
3) option to launch it from longpress search
4) many new settings in the preference menu to choose the type of handles for selection
Please post here if it works for you. Thanks for all the suggestions.
- it works for me
- it´s great
thanx for the new app, it´s standard now on my phone.
Edit: sometimes icons stays in statusbar...check/uncheck icon in settings solves this.

It appears that when I start the app and resize the selection box, the initial box that appears stays imprinted until I exit the app or copy the selection. Also it seems to not be able to copy accurately for me, it would get the first few words correctly then it becomes completely gibberish
CM6 Nexus one. It fails to install if CM tries to install to SD card. Installs fine on internal storage. Works great when copying just one line. Starts to get gibberishy after 1-2 lines. Kinda slow to start up. A landscape mode would be awesome. Overall doesn't make me want to throw the phone across the room like the built in copy paste. I will be using it for my copy/paste needs. Please continue developing it.

I will check the selection box, there is probably a problem with the activity. It might be getting gibberish because of the selection that you make. Try to make as small a selection as possible. It might also be a problem with the program, I and do some tests for the next update. Thank you for trying the app, stay tuned for future updates.

Hello,
I have pushed a code update to github, the features appear to have been rather painless which is always nice.
I have added a colour picker for custom colour choices.
I ended up using https://github.com/attenzione/androi...ckerPreference which is an incredible, well put together little colour picker.
I added the ability to launch the clock app from the widget. This will attempt to open the clock if it can find one. Because some custom roms run custom clock apps and there is no published intent this might not work on your rom. If it fails to launch your specific clock please let me know the details.
I added the option to lowercase all the text similar to gomorrah's blue mod
I should have fixed the 12 hour 00 bug aswell!!
I did test it on a few devices so hopefully it works fine but if there are any problems please let me know.
The plan is to put it on the market, for free, in the next few days when I get a chance.

as soon as it comes out, you'll have it. But until then I'll try to make a clock look the same, but it'll be hard seen as the numbers overlap.
P.S the stock theme for this mp3 player looks alot like the homescreens people show of in the 'post your homescreen' thread
EDIT: I knew it would be hard but it's turning out seemingly implausible for me, I can't get the numbers to overlap with the transparency.
Sorry, you'll have to get a real dev on this.
I hope you'll get to do this clock.
good luck
Looks really nice- would also be interested....
look, maybe this is a little substitute until somebody develops this clock for android...
you can set two minimalistic text widgets one upon the other and let them overlap.

The only alternative is a copy build with minimalistic text widget or make your clock widget. I got a quite good copy with the last one but unfortunately just very small...

Hi,
I have released today a live wallpaper that will show your album covers as 3D tiles. The covers will react when the finger is above them, there are some settings to customize dimming, color tint, cover size, ...
The application is available as a free demo which is fully functional except that it will only pick 5 albums from your music collection.
There also is an unlocker application (not free) that will allow showing all your album covers at a time instead of just the same 5.
Download the app on Google Play

Hi, just to know whether there really is no interest in such a wallpaper (in which case I would just give up on new features).
If any one is interested in testing the full version, I will gift the full APK to the first 10 reviewers of the demo version (no need to post a positive feedback, just post your own true feeling about the app).
Yea I would like to I'm mostly curious wether it works with streamed music from google music. Either way ill give it a go!

hi, the wallpaper fetches the covers from the android's internal media database. I have no idea whether Google Music writes the covers there (I doubt it). Please tell me when you have tried it.
Anyone else interested in testing the wallpaper? I'll send the full unlocker APK for free to the first 10 willing to give me their feedback here.
Or maybe some additional feature ideas to make it more interesting.
The application has been updated to version 1.1 to fix a bug on some custom ROMs and to reduce the package size.

cheers
Interested
I'm willing to try it out. I'm curious about one thing. Will it automatically update itself once we change album arts of songs using tag editor apps? Or will even changing others details and tags affect it?

Nevermind...the way I download my music doesn't have cover art, so this wallpaper will do me no good. But it does run great on my tablet with the ONE album cover I do have.
Nice!
My review:
This is a really cool live wallpaper. Runs a bit slow on my Droid X with CM7.2 RC, but I'm sure it would work great on faster phones. A feature that you could add would be an automatic album cover change every so often (let the user pick how long), and maybe also support to pick your own album covers. Cool LW though!

The wallpaper caches the albums when it is launched. So if the wallpaper is never killed by the Android system, no, you won't see changes. However, as a general observation I could notice that the wallpaper service is getting closed and restarted pretty often.
I will however try to cover that use case, for example each time the media scanner is called.
Thanks for the feedback!

Out of curiosity, how many albums do you have in your library (approx.)? Which was the size setting (small/medium/large)?
The albums should already be switching every now and then (this is random but not configurable, I will make it adjustable).
And about picking the album covers, there are already great apps to do that job, so I prefer to leave it to them instead of making something not as great as they do.

Hi,
I have implemented new features in response to your comments. Here is the change log for version 2.0:
+ Animation for tile addition/removal is now customizable (for now, can be set to zoom or fade, more to come soon)
+ You can make the tiles fade out with time
+ You can customize the life time of a cover (how often they get swapped for another one)
+ Added better crash reporting (uses the ACRA library)

Pro version (no ads):

BTW, any requests feel free to ask
So to anyone using it would you like an option rather than to display date you could also choose from something like "Today, 5 hours ahead" ?
Also thoughts about something like this for displaying time rather than traditional numbers?
New update:
Added a date preference in settings where rather than show date next to time it will display as something like Today, yesterday, tomorrow and hours behind/ahead. See screenshot:
New update:
- Date calculator
- Days until
- Duration calculator
- Time converter
- Weekday calculator
Will give it a try and then give you some feedback.

Thanks! Hope you like it
I like it.
And here is my first impression.
Simple and easy use, which is good.
First time starting, it takes a bit for the "processing", maybe you want to consider renaming that to something like "Initialising first use or start or ..." this way a user won't get impatient nor wonders if that will now happen everytime.
I like that it asks to choose a color for the picked city, that is good, maybe you can also add custom color at some point.
Also I would rename "duration calculation" to "days since".
The widget is cool since it switches from city to city. Maybe later you can add custom duration times.
One thing about the widget is that the text is small compared to widget size.
At some point I would also add a dark theme.
So I hope you like my review/thoughts/impressions.
All in all is this a great app, especially for people travelling allot or who have work with people in different time zones.
Will continue using it and keep you posted on my impressions.

Thanks, glad you like. Yeah you are probably right about changing that to something like Initializing database. Definitely want to do a dark theme and add more widgets too!
Updated with time zone converter
BTW, anyone think of some useful tools I can add?
Updated with a week number calculator. Enter a week number and year and get back the start date
Update:
I've added a pin local time option in settings. With this you can pin current local time to the top of the list or set your own time zone and use that instead.
Hi,
This looks interesting, thanks for all the work so far, but would you be able to provide some screenshots of the widgets in action? I would only ever use the widget, I'd probably never use the actual app other than the initial set up... (though it does look really nice!)

Thanks, I've installed it but for some reason I cannot resize the widget down, seems it can't go smaller than 2 rows. Is this by design, or a bug, or just a problem on my phone? I'm using Xperia home launcher, with an xposed mod to set the grid to 6x5, and allows me to resize any widget to any size - and it's working fine with other widgets, I can make them anywhere between 1x1 and 6x5 without problems.

Yeah that is how it is for now. Shouldn't be a problem in an update though to allow resizing
Would anyone using the app find any of the tools on this page useful?

Yes, it works. Small bug is, I have put transparency for the image and when I click hide and then show, image is not transparent. I don't know if it is supposed to be like that...
One suggestion is, will it be possible to lock the position??? And pls add an image like grant on left and right sides. It gives an impression like Samsung note edge. Actually, this is the app I want to make, making any device feel like Samsung edge. But I'm not getting time. Pls make this mod.
Thanks

Great, thanks for the feedback. Yes, transparency is not saved at the moment as I didn't think it would be useful, but I can make sure transparency gets saved. It's an easy mod.
It would indeed be possible to lock the position, there again, a bit of work but not difficult.
As for the last question, I don't really understand what you mean: what's "grant"?
Thanks, I used this code: S6VZDUY7YBA2XDPJKQF6DUV
Sorry Google auto correct...
I mean gradient... Left and right edges on attached image

Quick question if you don't mind. By "lock the position", do you mean:
- save it so that it shows in the same place after hiding it?
- or lock it on the screen so that it can't be moved?
Cheers!
I mean lock it on the screen. It should be with check box.
To be clear, I will use a custom image with two gradient bars on left and right and complete my transparent in the middle(I LL put correct resolution that matches my screen). So, when I use this image, I don't want gradient to come out of the border and so locking the image position will be nice. Pls let me know if you need more clarity...
@StrangerWeather thank you ... I am honored that i helped you...

I understand. It's actually possible to create an option where the overlayed custom image is not only locked on the screen but also where you can touch through it. Basically, you can use your screen as you normally would. It's something I intend to do but it will take some time as I am very busy right now.

Hi StrangerWeather,
Nice work! Thanks for this app
I used this promo code (the second one in your list): KRZFS315TKK1HUJYN9WBK8U
It works as intended on my P9 Lite running MM (EMUI 4.1.1)!
Only a tiny suggestion for now: you should add the possibility to "Never show intro again" (like it already exists in the 3-dot menu) from the intro screen itself.
