Yeah I got the same message, coming from Australia.

I got tge apk but am weary about giving cc info

I've tried to use it, but the app so far is very unstable. Crashes when attempting to log in, view a video, anything basically. Uninstalled. For now.

Looks good but that's about it!
+1 ! No go very unstable and even tried to crash my phone un-installed ! Also payments details and cancelling info also seems iffy!

A world-wide free High Quality TV service! For Mobile Devices

Hello everyone, on September 27 2007, I started posting information about our products and services, at the time and as you can read on the comments, we had a lot of problems, with the webservers and web services.
Thanks to all the comments and feedback we created what now has become a hit on mobile entertainment on Europe, Asia and North America.
Now I want to say thank you to each and every one of you that posted and complained about our products and services.
Without that feedback, we would still have lots of problems.
Today April 16 2010, we released a new mobile website, made from starch, with a new user interface, a faster load time and much easier to use.
With this we are also introducing the Saturn Liberty™ Desktop UI to our web services.
Back then we had the idea of making “A world-wide free High Quality TV service! For Mobile Devices”
With your help, we have done more…
We have over 10 High Definition (12MBps) Radio Stations, and our TV Channels for mobile, desktop and media center extenders keep growing.
We got over 500,000 beta testers for our mobile software/services world-wide, we have over 1 million registered users (and growing).
We got Real HD Video on our TV Channels (720p and 1080p) with 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound.
And we have some Developers Integrating our Software (even without authorization) on custom roms.
Now with the upcoming Windows Phone 7, we will still provide all our services but we wont be developing new applications for this OS.
But we will keep support, updates and more software for the millions of Windows Mobile users world-wide.
I hope all of you can now go to our mobile website or the desktop version and enjoy our services without problems, and if you find a problem or would like to let us know what’s on your mind, you can use the feedback button on all our websites.
Once again THANK YOU.
Don’t forget to visit our website http://www.ardcorp.tv
And stay tuned for the upcoming Windows Phone 7 services and our new Phone Market Place.
Talk to you soon…
Umm..., the URL takes me to a page with buttons "En Español" and "In English". I press the latter. This takes me to a page with buttons: "CosmoVision Digital", "The worlds's Best Music", "The Most Wanted Concerts", "The Best of the Movies", "The Hottest English Music", "The Hottest Latin Music", "The Old School" and "Party Time". Pressing any of these buttons leads me to a completely blank, white page. Refreshing the page takes me back to the English/Español page again. Pressing my browser's "Back" button causes the characters ÿÞ to appear briefly, before I am returned to the previous page.
The Spanish buttons appear to produce exactly the same result, though I didn't try them all.
In short ... needs a little more work in my opinion.
I just hear radio when I follow the link. ¿Will it be possible to watch tv?
Spam......?
This site tells me that I cant use the service because I have an outdated web broswer (newest opera on mobile 6)??
The guy who posted this could have never tried on a windows mobile device.
That really inspires me with confidence........
Me too just hear the radio no matter whatever link I press. Without Video NoGo for me
Regsrds
Can you read?? "Starting with mobile high definition radio services..."
seemed to work for me but i got ricky martin in concert...no thanks.
When I saw this topic listed in the main forum list, it said "a world-wide free high"
now you tell me it's a goddamn TV service? this is a con!

Would have helped if the links worked.
All the software does is provide a nice screen with Internet Explorer in it.
I am not sure that something that can be replaced by 2 favorites is worth installing on the device....
Also, TV still does not work.

this still doesn't work on the mobile, with either IE or opera (both the newest). Nor does it work on the desktop with latest IE. I undertand that these kinds of projects take time to develop, but you should really do some testing and see if your service actually works at all before you go announcing it. Otherwise you've earned a bad rep before you even get started.

ninesky browser - privacy worry

Hi everybody!
I recently started looking for a browser to replace the stock one and I think I installed every possible option there is without giving much thought to the consequences - app permissions and possible violation of my privacy and misuse of my data.
So I found what I thought was a really nice and well-functioning browser called Ninesky from the Android market.
Luckily for me I did not get to use it for long, before I detected a strange pattern - Ninesky would automatically start itself upon boot, connect to a server in China, upload some data and receive some back and then just sit there and wait idly.
The server that it connects to belongs to a company called aBitCool, which is, according to Bloomberg, an ISP in China.
So I kill it off and after a while it's back, doing the same thing. I also noticed a similar behavior for Dolphin HD, except that it would send data just once very quickly after boot-up and then close itself and stay quiet. That led me to Google it a little, which in turn led me to an existing thread about Dolphin HD on this forum.
So here are my noob questions that I hope somebody can answer, please:
1. Can somebody take a look at Ninesky browser and let us all know what kind of data it is transmitting about its users upon boot and maybe even later on during the actual use of the browser? The list of permissions that Ninesky asks for is huge and that makes me a little worried. Also, Ninesky runs a "safety check" of every URL visited. I wonder what that really is.
2. Say it would try to steal information from its users - would it be possible for the app to somehow get access to my stored usernames and passwords from other programs (such as Gmail or Skype) or are these encrypted? I presume that if I were stupid enough to let Ninesky's password manager "remember" my usernames and passwords for certain websites then that information would be easily accessible to them.
3. Can an app with such permissions also function as a keylogger?
4. I can understand why folks here would write some apps on their own and share them with the rest of us. I can understand why a developer or a company would write an app and make one version available for "free" or as an ad supported one and/or offer a premium version for $$$. At the end of the day developers need to eat and pay their bills just like the rest of us and companies are (for the most part) profit-seeking institutions (unless they are GE or MS that have money to burn). That said - why for the love of god would anybody, other than an enthusiast, develop a browser, for which they will not ask for any $$ or won't even display any ads in it? Where is the catch? Now, I know that Opera and Firefox get money from Google to use it as their default search engine, but would this really apply for a few random Chinese companies? Where is the catch?
Thank you.
I was a big supporter of Ninesky but I uninstalled today. It does seem to be constantly running and transmitting data, though what data is being transmitted I don't know. LBE also kept notifying me that it was trying to obtain my location information even when I wasn't using it. I uninstalled it through the Market and left a one star review.
Drunk texted from my MIUI Thunderbolt.
I'm writing a review of about 13 different Android browsers, and came across Ninesky. Has anyone heard anything more about the privacy concerns and what data it might be transmitting?
well....if it keeps requesting the location even while its closed, thats not a good sign...
Not good. This needs addressing.
I have changed my review on Market also until we get some answers.
Cheers to the OP.
I agree. I think my review should come out tomorrow, hopefully the developer reaches out. It really is a decent browser.

But the OP got it wrong with money burning by GE & MS. There's no such thing, its all business. Just to let you know, in the browser wars - Firefox was Google's first step into browsing. Then came Chrome.
For all privacy concerns, LBE Privacy Guard is a good option. Though its Korean, if am not wrong.
Well, finally there's options out there. Nobody is forcing us to download, install & use their apps.

Agree with everything BUT Firefox was never connected to Google like Chrome. Firefox's current existence is owed almost exclusively to its search partnership with Google wherein Mozilla Corp receives a portion of ad revenue from Google queries initiated from Firefox's search bar. This revenue amounts to tens of millions of dollars. But Mozilla and Google Relations Strained Due to Chrome.

Calamitous with Ninesky
Hi,
I stumbled upon XDA Developers forum today and I was so grateful to find this write-up; it was the only honest review I could find of Ninesky. So, thank you.
I want to share an experience our family went through a few weeks ago. Perhaps it will answer some of your questions and alert some users out there of what this browser could do. We have an unfortunate incident happen to our child: My little boy received an android tablet for a gift this October. He was so eager downloading all the apps and games he could find, and in about a month, it was completely personalized. We regularly monitored his downloads, the games he played, and the apps he utilized.
Much to our regret, we really did not give much thought to the browsers he had installed. He had more than three at one point and Ninesky was always in the background. Sadly, whenever he would search for apps, we later discovered Ninesky directly linked him to several stores that was not common to Google or Firefox. Some of them had Anime icons (mostly innocent looking), nicely titled games for their tiles. Some apps were legitimate and very cool games; however, some apps were direct links to hard-core porn websites and a whole universe of filth (not excluding child-porn). They attached themselves to the tablet like trojans and was quite aggressive in linking the user to overseas app stores (inappropriate). Every time a game would be uploaded from one of these stores, it gives auto-access to these atrocious websites and videos. Because Ninsky always functioned in incognito--one of it's touted features--we almost had no access to the history or cookies when this browser was used. Almost anyway ... it took us hours (and some hacking) to track and identify what was really going on, the seeming source of it was this "sophisticated" browser.
So the catch may be that this browser has no advertisements because it plays host to several groups funding the porn industry. That's my suspicion anyway, based on what we went through.
I cannot begin to say how grieved we are that our son was exposed to all this, especially that we discovered it so much later. We thought we paid attention. That being said, he's back to playing with his remote control car outside, where life is a bit less complex.
More power to your forum and thanks again.

Free or cheap cloud storage service?

Is there a website or service that offers cloud storage for games or apps for free? What's the cheapest you know of? I just want to save game progress on the internet in case someone gets a new phone and wants to keep playing my game. Thanks!
Have you tried SkyDrive integration? I do believe our apps can talk to a user's skydrive that's linked to their Live ID and you can use that to store application data.
A quick google search pointed me to this sample: http://blog.mecum.biz/2011/10/windows-phone-7-mango-skydrive-sample/ and there's also http://wp7skydrive.codeplex.com/ which seems to be a simple wrapper around common functions.
If you want something from MS directly: http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_...ssenger-and-skydrive-to-your-mobile-apps.aspx or http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/silverlight/SkyDrive-Photo-API-sample-f06778ae would be a good starting point. Personally I'd use the latter since it's the REST API wp7skydrive.codeplex.com was waiting to be out of beta for.
Personally, I find SkyDrive integration much easier than trying to facilitate my own service. What if my service went down or I couldn't make payments? My users would be SOL and if your app *requires* the service it could break certification requirements (not that MS is that strict on something that already passed).
Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Thread moved to general Q&A, not really development related.

Flare Play Microconsole

So, I just found this thing called Flare Play at goodwill for $6. I didn't know anything about it and wanted to learn more, but it turns out that the cable provider, Cox Communications discontinued the Flare Play services, including all near all youtube videos for it, the official website and the facebook page, leaving next to not information about the system at all.
What I was able to extract from the internet is that it was apparently a game streaming service. When it was first released, it was priced around $80, which isn't too bad when competing with onlive and others back in the day. Though, there was no word on how much the streaming cost per month.
So, with the service discontinued, I wanted to see if there was a way to hack it. It might work off of a type of android software, but it could also be some for of raspberry pi. The model number for it is F1G1001
FC11001
Service number is FGM1505A00414
If anyone has anymore information about this, or has worked on this type of thing and has a nice little hack so I can install android apps to it, let me know!

Reg: Refund Request.

Relating to the issue I brought up in this thread over a year ago: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/missing-support-t3675478
A member of MX-Player team(perhaps the only developer?) had advised and instructed me on the method I should use to transfer my Pro licensed MXPlayer from the Google Play version to a J2Interactive website-licensed downloadable package.
This transaction has been done and I now have access to my purchased product that doesn't require me to run Google Play Services to use, meaning I have paid twice for the item, since my request for a refund on the original transaction has gone unheard.
The method I was advised to use was to: Make a second purchase of my product from the J2Interactive site, following which, my Google Play Account version would be refunded.
Following this second purchase, my email has gone un-replied to from the payments/purchase team(person?) and I now find myself back in a public internet forum trying to resolve a personal, financial matter.
I note that there has been not a single delay in processing or correspondence regarding receipt for the Actual taking of monies from my accounts for my purchase. Twice.
@Thirumalai.K - Since you were the one to originally advise me on the method I should use to proceed, I wonder If you could have a word with the busy Payments Department on my behalf?
The email account used for both my first(Play Store) and second(J2I direct) purchase is the same, so it should be easy enough to see that there has been two payments made to date for the product: mreid . cgi @ gmail . com
Thank you.

Hey,
Based on our email records and your purchase history, It seems that you haven't purchased the app from our website when we have requested to do so, and we haven't heard back from you since our last reply on 21st Sep 2017. Also, we have found that you have purchased pro on your own will on 17th Dec 2018 (i.e. more than a year after our last conversation).
Looks you were using the pirated versions (as you have mentioned in the email) for more than a year till your recent purchase on dec'18. Moreover, at that time of your previous request (i.e. in 2017), Google Play was allowing us to initiate the refunds even for very old purchases. But, it no longer offers the refund option for the purchases older than 6 months. So, we may not be able to refund at the moment even if we would like to refund.
If you are having any concerns, please reach us at [email protected]. We will be happy to assist you.
Thanks for responding.
I actually used a pirated version of the app, which as you know, I had purchased, for a very short time. I used it for a couple/few days at the max.
I was running a device which didn't allow for Google Play to be installed and as I simply cannot suffer a device using any other media player than my MXP, which of course, I was unable to install, it was simply a temporary band-aid in my hour of need. I honestly do not like to live on the seamy-side and I don't use stolen/pirated software. If I like something, I will buy it, or gladly donate payment to the Developer who have spent their time making these lovely items that make my life better.
Shortly, though, I was again able to access Play Services and reinstall the Play version.
If I seemed a bit dry and demanding in our last conversations it's because I was irritated that my purchased product wasn't available to me, whereas various other Developers of my purchased items were more than happy to simply transfer my licences to non-Play-dependent versions upon proof of purchase.
I recently recalled our conversation and so purchased directly from J2I, as I found myself in the same position again.
You are correct in that it has been a year and I understand that Services etc. are subject to change at any point. If a refund is unavailable then it's unavailable. I at least now have the option to run the application both from Play and as a stand-alone software in times like these.
Thank you.

We just wanted to clarify that we have tried our best to assist you in a better way. But, Google Play's policies are changing so frequently, which makes us helpless in this case.
Thanks for your understanding and continued support.
