Is there a file/app to download for rooted users that mimics the DSP app for vanilla ROM's? I liked the option in Cyanogen to use the equalizer for the headset and phone speaker. Thanks
Anyone?

Surprised this has not been added to other roms, since will save battery and overhead when playing audio.
I found a method that worked for me in the Nexus One Development forum. I can't post links but search there for 'DSP-based equalizer".

Thanks for the quick response. I guess there is no way to get to install in recovery then. The whole adb thing is confusing.

What are you talking about? You just download that zip, place it on your sd card (in a folder, I couldn't get it to find it if it were on the root of the card), and install it from clockworkmod recovery. Don't forget to do a nandroid first.
Look at number 3 on the link to the post. Can't find anything to download.
sent from my Incredible using Tapa Talk
it should also work if you just place the zip on your sd card and use clockwork. (no guarantees, so make a nandroid backup like the previous post suggested)
will this work on a sense rom, or just vanilla android?
EDIT: installed zip from clockworkmod recovery and it's working on Virtuous 2.0.
it's nice to finally have an EQ and the dsp effects are kinda cool as well with headphones. kinda gives the illusion that you're listening to speakers in a room, not speakers stuck in your ears.
Okay, the problem was there was no zip using tapatalk. I went on the website and saw it right away. Thank you! Sorry for being a new b.

it seems that way. do a nandroid backup first just in case it's not stable or doesn't boot up.
Yes it works
I renamed to update.zip (probably unnecessary)
booted into recovery which automatically tried to install and failed (unsigned/verification failure)
went into clockwork
toggled verification check off
installed zip
What I really needed was a gain increase which this does not have. Got on a plane last week and could not hear movies on my dinc cause volume was too low. However this dsp manager does increase overall sound and it improves sound quality. Need to take another trip to try it out! Sweet!
Thanks egeorgia and xmunroe!!
I just did a nandroid backup with rom manager. Can I just place the zip without renaming it on the root of my sd card and choose "Install rom from SD card" with rom manager and update that way? I have the rooted stock lite 2.2 Sense rom.
Also, am I correct in thinking this mod is using the DSP hardware, so a more efficient and better sounding option than the audio apps with EQ's that are in the market? Astro player and MixZing are examples. They are making EQ adjustments through software and cpu overhead, while the DSP Mangager in this zip is doing it all through hardware. Correct?
I believe it does work as a gain. If you see the "db" to the right it actually goes into the plus. I did this and it actually distorted that frequency. Don't use the compression. It will make it quieter.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting the link to DSP Manager. It works great.
The room effects are awesome. Sounds great with my Westone 3's (I'm also a headphone geek).

Just finished installing the official 2.2 release on my Captivate (problem free). Before installing I backed up everything to my SD card via titanium, then removed the lag fix, and did a hard reset / format using the dialer code, verified everything was wiped and all the internal storage was wiped clean (although MCR scripts and superuser didn't go away).
first reaction, THE LAG IS HORRIBLE. hoping it was a result of crapware, I rooted via SuperOneClick, reinstalled Titanium from the market, and removed all the ATT crapware, rebooted, and it is no better.
I've restored my apps and everything except facebook contact syncing seems to be working great, but the lag is awful! often I wait 3, sometimes 5 seconds before a screen click is even recognized.
are there any lag fixes that have been tested on, or at least suggested for the official 2.2 release?

I assume you are referring to the one used on 2.1, I don't remember the name, but it used MCR Scripts and was installed with an update.zip. once installed you ran MCR Scripts and "installed" the lag fix with 2 options, either 512mb or 1gb of space, and a third option to remove the lagfix
I ran the remove option before doing the upgrade

I'm running stock 2.2 with no lag. I formatted my external sd and that fixed my initial lag problem

That was solved months ago. Go to the dev section, download the 5.x voodoo + stock KB1 kernel odin file, and flash it on. Phone will take a while to boot back up, but will tell you it is converting partitions to ext4. Once it comes back, you will see the amazing speedup from getting rid of the piece of **** known as RFS.
Is there anyway I can get lagfix by itself? I have no computer so id just like to download to phone, put in root and goto recovery mode.

Froyo uses 3e recovery I believe so it will not install any update.zips the only way I know of is using an alternate recovery...a kernel with 2e recovery or going the custom rom route like torch 1.5 or cog 4 in the dev section which use the new froyo
And for your no computer issue...i suggest you find mcdonalds or a neighbor and use the wifi and download one of those custom roms directly to your phone that have a lagfix included with root and no bloat. I do this all the time when I am in the field. Just some suggestions I hole they help and I understand your frustration.

Did this, when I try to start the phone it won't go past white/green HTC splash. Anything I can do other than wipe/flash everything? Installed a new ROM today and was just gonna flash this and then do a backup. Darnit.
I think you are flashing new base rom, so the problem is with the old libs. You have just two choices - flash your rom ontop or replace the two lib files libaudio.so and libaudioflinger.so from your original rom into the DSP manager zip and flash it via recovery.
I know there are a few of these threads in other device forums but I am posing this question to G2x owners only. What is the best ROM in your opinion for use on the G2x? I just rooted mine and have ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 running with ROM Manager in place. Now it is time to play. A little background, I am a Red Hat instructor so any ROMs a linux nerd might find useful that play nice on the G2x hardware would be awesome.
I've used weapon g2x for a while and it was pretty good. Switched to cyanogenmod 7.2 and it's also pretty good. I've heard phoenixblood is also amazing.
I recommend you just jump in and try them.

Mileage varies with different people so the best way to pick a ROM is to try them yourself. Make sure you use Titanuim Backup to help keep your apps and data through the changes.

I never knew why people use RM. Just boot into CWM. RM can **** up at times. I've even seen it brick some people's phones. Also, the G2x uses a modded CWM. So using RM wouldn't be a good idea either way.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I flashed my first ROM with ROM manager, and of course something went wrong, and the G2x wouldn't boot up. At the time, I thought I messed it all up and bricked my phone.
CWM is just a safer option. Even if the flash goes bad, you can still boot into CWM and do a nandroid restore, then it's like nothing happened in the first place. Plus after you've done it once, it's actually a really simple process to do, but now you have an added safety net.
Yupp use cwm much more stable and easier? I used rm and it soft bricked my phone. Managed to fix it tho with nvgflash

The recovery partition on Tegra 2 devices works very differently from the recovery partition on almost all other devices. Rom Manager works around this by simply installing it's own version of CWM on a portion of your system partition (I'm fairly certain that is where it places it, but I could be wrong). The Tegra architecture protects certain partitions from being written to while in anything other than recovery or NVFLASH. This prevents certain blobs from being flashed properly with RM. Also, some options can wipe the partition the RM flashed 'CWM' is on, completely removing your non NVFLASHED recovery. While it is extremely rare that this CWM could do permanent damage to the device, it's just generally safer and more consistent to use the 'real' CWM that you flash to the device with NVFLASH, as it is on the proper partition and separate from any partition that a ROM might attempt to format.
Makes sense. Goodbye Rom Manager. Thanks guys.

beats audio for our phone working on all 2.3 roms. You will need some expensive headphones to feel it true power but difference is understandable on stock ones as well.Credits go to Willblake13.
Edit: It works just fine. My brothers was a false alarm. He cut the phone power while transfering some huge data pack on his external sd that is why he broke it. Tried it myself on my phone with a friends sd and on my brother's phone with another sd and all works like a peach. Sound is great (if you like beats audio of course).

worked for me just fine. My brother however reports that he has a broken sd (external one) issue after installing but he was so eager and dump as to reboot to recovery via cwm while transfering a huge (2gig) file from internal to external at the moment of rebooting and cwm is known to just cut the power to the phone instead of properly shuting it down so that may be the cause of his problem...I don't have an ext sd so I don't know.

I think it's a piece of Software/Driver from HTC for better sound quality. They put it on some of their phones and sell them with those Monster Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.
ok people the whole thing works really sweet. Confirmed it on my brothers and my phone with 2 different sds and all is sweet. He was dump enough to cut a data transfer to his ext sd by cutting power to the phone the first time and that broke his sd config.Have fun with it.
So, is there really a difference in audio quality? I have a pair of beats headphones, maybe I will try it out.
Although, I normally don't use my phone for music...
Thanks a lot it works perfectly! The sound is so clean even When i boosted the bass using an equlizer.

Guys, I would recommend you to manually copy those files and give the right permissions in order to have it really working, the update script itself is not correct. Doing this I guarantee that your phones sound quality will increase while you gonna loose in volume. So what I did was to right combined BEATS with SE XPLOD to have a gain in volume back. Now it is just amazingly good. You gonna see it comming on all my ROMs versions. Cheers.
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda premium
First of all it is a flashable zip so no need to copy anything manually, then I didn't lose anything in the volume side and there is already a combined beats + xloud working out there for flashing working on many devices, just that it is not tested on o3d so I haven't posted it yet. I will post that as well as soon as I try it on our phone.

Okey, not gonna discuss with you about it. Gonna make a working, correct flashable file of XPLOD + BEATS together. Did you check if after flashing it, you have all the files inside system + with right permissions? Btw didn't know about any port, don't have to be a genius to figure it out how to port them to O3D as well. Send me a PM if you want to join forces to post a right flashable .zip here in your thread.

Pretty sure this won't work for one simple reason: system isn't even mounted in the script, how is it going to copy anything?
Also, the package isn't signed properly, but that's more of a niggle than anything.
