unrevoked 3.14 doesnt work with ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi.
I tryed to use unrevoked 3.14 with ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit installation.
It doesnt work.
The use with ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit Live DVD was impossible too.
When I start the reflash program, it will end after a few seconds. Without any output or error message.
Because I was not at home, it was not possible to download the 32 bit version of ubuntu.
So I used the Windows Version with Windows 7 64, this works fine.
Anyone got problems with unrevoked 3.14 under ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit too?

Yes, I have problems too, I think its a software for 32bit architecture, but there is a solution and is to install the 32bit libraries required by the app. You can try with "getlibs" for example, its a cool app.
You should debug unrevoked from console and see the errors of invalid or missing libraries to know what are you needing. It depends of your computer, configuration and installed software so you could need diferent libraries than other people.
Other solution, is to install vmware or virtualbox and run a virtualized distro based on 32bits, in my experience unrevoked has not problems with this architecture on linux.
Regards
Daniel

Yes im pretty sure that this problem is related to the Architecture same Problem with WIN64 Bit....

Plz, give me a working intruction of flashing under Vista 64 SP1

I used to have this working at the beginning of the month, using RUU 2.01 + WMDC 6.1 x64 Driver.
All of sudden it does not work anymore.
Tried all other RUU versions (2.03, 3.xx), no help.
Anyone with good luck please give me some hint!
Thanks a lot!
i had issues with digital signed drivers even if i turned digital signature check off during boot and so i chose a different path for flashin my phone. i installed VMware workstation. Its a program that creates a virtual machine withing windows within which u can install XP. So basically i have XP running within Vista through a virtual machine. another suggestion is dual boot vista and XP. search in google on how to do this and you will find instrucations. good luck.
Read this Guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428469
though its for another device, but the steps are same for all the devices
Enjoy

[Q] Is it safe to use VMware Workstation to connect to Zune and update to Mango?

Hello, I'm running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. I found out that Zune Software doesn't run on this OS. Since I am sick of repartitioning, formatting and installing OSes, I don't want to make new partition and install new OS. So it looks like the only way to connect my phone to Zune and update to Mango is to use a VMware Workstation Virtual machine with compatible OS (WinXP 32bit for example).
Is it safe to update to Mango using a VMware Virtual machine?

Neither. Dual-boot it so that both Linux and Windows are both running natively as it's a much better way to run them.

Not a problem. It is slightly trickier installing Linux first, then Windows - but not a real problem. You will just have to make sure that you keep your Linux Live image handy so you can re-install the Linux bootloader afterwards as Windows doesn't like sharing with anything else
Yeah, definitely dual-boot if you must have Linux, though I find it's a rather irrelevant operating system.

Irrelevant? Really? Do you have an Android phone? You are aware that Android wouldn't exist without Linux and the Linux kernel ... aren't you?

Android and GNU+Linux are largely unrelated. That said, it's hard to see how he could call the latter "irrelevant". It's really only "irrelevant" if you are a hardcore gamer (and even then, there are pretty decent stopgap solutions for many games, and steam is also coming).

I often work with Windows 7, then install Wubi to create a dual-boot system with Ubuntu (except that the Ubuntu disk is stored inside a virtual disk file on the host filesystem, whilst still running on its own).
Try it, super easy, simple and safe

Wubi is more vulnerable to corruption in the event of a hard reboot, and is naturally slower.
The problem with ubuntu (alone) is that the first things you do is to install WINE (or else it does not last long).
If you install a dual boot and if you are accustomed to windows most of the time you will use windows.
for a time I had windows and ubuntu installed but it was really useless however do it if you want it costs nothing more (first install windows and next ubuntu, it's easier in this order)

Problems Installing Linux to Dell N5050

Is anyone having problems installing Linux to a PC recently? I have heard of possible issues with PCs that ship with Windows 8, but this Inspiron N5050 came with Win. 7, and has even been certified by Ubuntu to run Ubuntu perfectly. But i've tried Ubuntu 12.10 and maybe 3 different versions of Linux Mint, and they all hang during the install.
Basically they get to the screen where you input your name and a password, at the bottom it shows progress, like creating the file system, copying files, but it basically just stops there... you click continue and nothing happens, and all activity seems to halt for a long long time. Anyone know anything about this? I've read of some others having this issue with Linux Mint 14, but that's all i can find... and no fixes.
I really want to solve this if possible, i didn't get this laptop to run only Windows
Maybe you can try to install Ubuntu on Windows (wubi) or do another partition on your comp.
Hope it helps

Thanks for the reply. I didn't try wubi, i wanted it to have it's own partition alongside Windows, and no matter what i did, the different versions of Ubuntu and Mint would all hang during the installation. In the end Debian ended up installing fine., maybe since it seems to have a different installer. Guess i'll give that a whirl now, i still hope i find out what the issue is with this machine.

Emulator Kernel Version Missing (Pic Provided)

Trying to build my own AOSP ROM and I keep getting stuck on emulator unable to find the kernel version, though the file is there.
I am using Hyper-V VM with Ubuntu V20 installed and the VHD is exactly that, a .vhd file extension for the virtual hard drive.
I just can not seem to resolve the problem on the missing kernel, also have supplied a pic showing exactly what it says after the build is finished and then I try and run emulator.
Any help or info, links on the matter would be much appreciated and thank you for taking the time to help out.
I have also noticed I can not use "emulator -list-avds" nothing happens. Just exits and terminal is ready for user input again.
So far I did a repo sync again and then a m -checkbuild and just waiting for it to finish to try emulator again
Update: Decided to start from scratch
Changes that I have made.
Using Ubuntu 18.04 for O.S
Switched from M.S Hyper-V to Oracle Virtual-Box (V.B has more features then Hyper-V and is better in performance because of it.).
Virtual HDD is set to .VHD but is on Sata and not IDE now (Virtual-Box only allows it).
Made the VHD a fixed drive instead of dynamic for better performance (Max size of 512GB)
Dedicated 32GB of ram to VM.
Allowed up to 6 cores on a 12 core processor.
might experiment getting Oracle JDK installed instead of using openjdk, due to having issues with it.
UPDATE_1
Fresh build on 18.04 same issues as old build. emulator, avd and android. all not working.
I might have missed a package to download or something or maybe java still is not working. Using openjdk 11 at the moment. I am running out of ideas as to why i can not get it working.
Update_2
Looks like the reason emulator is not working is due to me not installing SDK, I am not using the IDE so I think I need the command-line & Platform tools installed. got to work out how to install it now.
UPDATE_3
SDK from what I know is installed. Now I am getting an output file is missing, but build completed with no issues. Please help, new image also supplied.
