[Q] Car Home app half baked - modify? - Android Apps and Games

I've just started using my car dock for my nexus and I am really disappointed with the car dock app. There is a second screen with empty spaces but no way to add shortcuts.
And I would expect there to be car versions of apps like messaging, contacts, and phone.
Having to answer a call in the car by sliding the answer button is not very safe. We should be able to just click one big button.
I am getting into android development, what would be involved in modifying the app/ creating car versions of the the apps mentioned above. Is it doable?

No offense, but your logic is flawed. Answering any call, looking at any texts, or doing anything at all with your phone while driving is not safe, period.
But if you are really that desperate for a customizable car home, check the market out fo Custom Car Home and Car Dock v2. Both of these will do exactly what you are looking for.

Well yes its not safe, but isnt that the point of a car dock/app? To make these actions safer to do while driving, handsfree?
I have checked out those apps, but they don't quite have the same polish in terms of interface as the Car Home app, and only really accomplish the shortcut issue. Not the issue of actions like answering a call, picking a contact not being suitable for in car.

Speakerphone answer for car use?

Hi all, I have had my O2 IQ for about a month now and love it to bits - first XDA I have had with a decent radio rom from the box!
my only problem is that when I am in the car, obviously, I cannot pick it up to answer a call and pressing the call button to go to speakerphone is a pain as well as distrating, especially if tomtom is running, as it usually minimizes the program as well
I really don't like headsets, so really need some way to get the phone to automatically answer in speakerphone mode
I thought I would be able to do this in a profile, but cant see any way to do it, is there a program which can allow this?
I don't have any problem with using speakerphone in the car as others seem to, so it would be an ideal solution
I am running the original O2 rom if it makes any difference, not felt the need to mess with it yet!
any help much appreciated
regards
Robert

Any idea's anyone.
I have the same problem.
Press green button for a while - speakerphone will be turned on
Same problem here, anyway to auto answer in loudspeaker?
@ZlydenGL - we don't have the time to press the answer button and then press the loudspeaker button when driving, dangerous
This probably isn't quite what you're looking for, but can't you plug in a wired headset into your phone when you're in the car?
My dad had something like that, with the microphone mounted above the steering wheel...

Bluetooth profile

After being a bit naughty talking on my phone/s for a few years while driving, I have now invested in a lovely bluetooth car kit. All works great and quality if brill. Only 1 small problem and I'm sure you geniuses can sort me out again.
Is there any way to set profiles that will activate bluetooth and put it into car mode so that I don't have to trawl through menu's just to start bluetooth. I don't want to leave it on all the time so the battery lasts longer.
The ways I have found so far are rubbish. Surely there is a way to simply set a profile (no ring tone, bluetooth on, etc) without all this p*&^^*$g about.
HELP.

[Q] Looking for bluetooth music playback controller - handheld or wrist mounted.

Not sure if anyone is familiar with something like this, or if it even exists, but here goes.
When I go running, it's very annoying to keep messing around with my phone in its arm band. It effects my pace and concentration. Hardware keys are still annoying to switch tracks with because it requires more effort than I want during a run. I have two pairs of headphones, one that came with my Samsung Galaxy S4, and one off-brand pair I picked up from Office Depot on clearance. Both have a button on the cord. I found an app that is supposed to allow me to assign functions to this button, which seems sporadic at best in its functionality. Sometimes the button works the way it should, sometimes it doesn't.
What I WANT is something I can hold in my hand, or at least wear around my wrist that's bluetooth capable and allows me to control my music. It doesn't even need to be super elegant, it can have 1-3 buttons. As long as it works to play/pause, select a previous track / next track, and adjust the volume; I'm happy. It HAS TO WORK. I don't want something that works when it feels like working, if you can understand that.
So, with that, have any of you found anything like this or do you know of something that can fit my needs? I don't think it's ridiculous to hope for something that'll allow playback control while always working when I use it, so hopefully someone on here can point me in the right direction.

[Q] Best way to stop all media playing on undock?

I've Googled around and there doesn't seem to be many people with my particular, annoying issue: I just want my phone to stop playing music/media when I undock it from my iBolt car dock. I use CarDockV3 as my dock program.
I am trying to stay away from Tasker a bit, but I'll switch to it if it has the option and works better. I am using Llama right now combined with Media Utilities. I create a shortcut to the pause option, and have Llama set up to activate it when undocked. However, this only SOMETIMES works, and with a really long delay. Ie., a good 10-15 seconds after undocking, does the music stop, and only sometimes. I tried using a Bluetooth disconnect state but this seems to work even less frequently...
I just wish Android would detect undocking and force stop any media. This just seems like such an obvious functionality.

SW2 + Bluetooth Stereo Causing Default Homescreen Problem on Phone

So I understand that this is a pretty unique circumstance- but I am wondering if anyone has a solution for this.
I use the SW2 and have had this problem both with my GS4 and my Nexus 5. Everything is good until I get into my car where it automatically connects with the bluetooth of my aftermarket Sony receiver. At this point anytime I do anything (most noticeably hitting my home screen button) it will ask what I want to use as my default launcher (Nova or Standard Launcher). I select the one I use, hit always...but this happens anytime I get in my car while wearing my watch. No watch, no problem.
So....any thoughts on a solution for this bizarre situation?
