Stock Video Player & Media Scanner Questions - Captivate General

Guys,
Couple of Questions.
1. The stock video player is fine, except it doesn't remember the location in the video. Everytime you start the player, it starts from the begining. Any way to make it remember the location, or other alternatives?
2. How to stop the Media Scanner from running when you disconnect from PC or restart the phone. It takes a good 5-6mins, and stops you from using the Gallery during that time?
Thanks for your input.

1) can't really help you there with the defaults, try DoubleTwist ?
2) Media scanner will run as long as TouchWiz is running, AFAIK

The newer ROMs seem to have fixed the Media Scanner issue - but since they have other issues, I am going to wait for an official release - I rarely reboot my phone or mount my SD card.
There are other Video players in the market - try some of them. If I pause a video and exit the video player, but come back later - the video i was watching starts at the spot i paused it. I guess this probably doesn't stay across a power cycle. I am not sure if any video player will.

I've been using Meridian for both video and music and have been pretty happy. For video it will remember where you stopped (per video, and across power cycles). It even has an option to always rewind 3 seconds when coming back from another app.

Thanks for the replies. Will try Meridian.
As for the Media Scanner, it's not just after power cycle that it comes up, but also after I disconnect from PC.
I remember seeing a video that showed how to disable TW on Epic and Fascinate, but that didn't work for Captivate. Anyone else know how to disable TW, and what other things does that change? (contacts, messaging???)

Music Player that only pauses for phone calls?

Is there a player out there that will pause only for phone calls? When I had a hero, the player worked great...would only pause for phone calls or if I was using navigator and a new turn was coming up. Since getting an Evo, the player pauses for everything, often times, I can't even tell what caused the pause in the music, just something that hit the processor I suppose.
I dont have a suggestion, but totally agree with you. I wish all music apps would allow us to have settings for Notifications, Phone Calls, Navigations, etc. It is sadly overlooked on all the media players that I have tried so far.
If you went to download a music player and then saw it say "controls phone, data, mms, internet,sd card, and had root. Most people would be worried fo ssecurity to download such an app. Its not attractive when an app practicaly needs ur entire phone open to use.
Voodoo sound has a Mod to disable all those notifications if I'm not mistaken.

[Q] Moboplayer and resume ?

Hi.
I'm using moboplayer to watch videos. It works great.
When I quit the player for a while (gtalk, etc), then go back on the player, I would like it to auto-resume the video. Now, I have to click on play, which is annoying.
Is it possible to do that?
Just tried it and it doesn't do that for me either anymore after the 3.2 custom rom.
so it resumes automatically for you ?
Wow, I wish it DIDN'T autoresume for me. There is a bug, at least on my unit, where it will PERMANENTLY remember the resume point even if I go back and finish watching the video. I have to delete the MediaFile everyday so that it forgets all the resume points.
So, yes, for me it always will autoresume.
Weird. Does and always did the opposite for me, ie no auto resume.
Sent from my Sensation using XDA Premium App
nope, no auto resume for me either.

Problems with audio?

I am having issues with my audio, as in audio playback music, youtube, etc.. it seems to simply not work for some reason on and off, a reboot fixes it or just waiting til the next time you want to use audio. i am trying to link it with an another event.. 2 things i am noticing it may be, after the phone switches networks HSPA to LTE the other event is maybe it only happens when i start the audio from the new lock screen controls..
Haven't noticed anything yet, I streamed music on the 30 minutes to work and had no issues this morning.
Also having some insane issues using Play Music and usually the lock screen controls. Say I hit the next button on the lock screen, it will change and just sit there. Unlocking the phone shows that the playback seems to be taking place (a few moments later) because the button changes to pause and song time starts moving. No audio though. Switching songs sometimes fixes it, but I had an issue this morning where not even system audio worked until I rebooted the phone.

Media playback stops randomly

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. Ever since I got this phone, during media playback occasionally it will stop playback. It doesn't matter what type of media or on what app -- Pandora, Play Music, Youtube, everything else -- it stops sometimes. It seems to me like it could be a RAM issue, but even when there are no apps running other than the media player it still stops, so I can't imagine it'd be running out of memory. It happens whether the screen is on or off. It happens whether power saving mode (which restricts background data) is on or off. Any suggestions to remedy the problem? Many thanks.

Have you tried the usual? Wipe cache and dalvik if you have rooted, outside of that a full firmware flash.

Bluetooth headphones resume playback not working

Hello,
I use a pair of true wireless Soul X-shock earphones to listen to seminars when out jogging etc using background playback. (Samsung Galaxy S7 and MX Player Pro)
The play/pause function (on the earphones) works as it should if there is less than an approx 5 minute delay between button presses...
However, when the video is pause is longer than 5 minutes I find the resume function on my earphones no longer operate and background playback of the video is completely halted.
Not only that, when resuming playback on my phone screen and then pressing the home button or lock screen the video does not play in the background as it should.
I have found the only way to remedy this is to force quit MX Player Pro directly and start it up again. That way the background playback function behaves like normal again.
The problem also happens immediately if I put my ear phones back into the charging case and take them out to use them again.
I am able to use spotify without issue taking my ear phones on and off but MX Player Pro behaves very differently.
I have also noticed the background playback for MX Player Pro on the notifications bar gets killed after about 5 minutes of no playback, requiring a full restart of the app before it can come back again.
I have already added MX Player Pro to the power saving exceptions list but the issue still happens.
Is there anyway to fix this via settings or via new update?

Thanks for your feedback. When you pause the playback manually, MX Player will no longer use the foreground service. So, the system may kill the app to reclaim the resources if it is required for some other process. Once it's killed by the system, it may not be able to receive the media button controls. So, you can't resume the playback from the headset. However, everything should work as expected when you open the app again. If you found any abnormal behaviour, kindly provide us with more info so that we can investigate it further for you.
