Sprint Battery Booster READ PLEASE IF YOU'VE BOUGHT - Epic 4G Accessories

For anyone purchasing a SPRINT BATTERY BOOST to use to charge their micro-USB phones, DO NOT TRY TO CHARGE YOUR DEVICE while the Booster is charging....it's advertised to be able to be hooked up to an electrical charge AND charge your phone simultaneously....well I tried that yesterday and nearly burned up my desk AND the booster was hot as a boiled egg after about 15 minutes....smell of burning something in the air....I unplugged EVERYTHING and let it all sit, today the booster seems to be OK with the exception of smelling like burnt transistor, LOL. I haven't tried to use the card reader yet. Just an FYI, don't do what I did you might start a fire!!!!

I don't know if you have tried it or not, but have you reflashed the ROM? I had this problem with Prime! 1.6 last night, then flashed Prime! 1.7 beta without wiping and all is good now. The other problem I had besides the device not charging was the plug was getting really hot.
Hope this helps.
yes i reflashed the rom right before it died..
Since the computer was recognizing the device when it was plugged in, it should be receiving a charge at the same time. Have you left it plugged into the computer to see if it would charge that way?
I am just throwing ideas out there to hopefully get you back up and running.
I'm not nuts
Put your power brick in a zippy bag and put in the freezer for about an hour. It's suppose to reset something stuck inside. It does work sometimes. Good luck

I was just reading the same thing on the transformer forums.
Two other ideas I found:
1. On the WALL PLUG, take off the part that plugs in to the wall (for me it is a USA version).
Then, slightly bend the 2 prongs AWAY from each other. This will ensure a good connection. Worked like a charm!
2. An alternative, e.g. if past replacement date, is to use a Dynex DX-UA Universal charger with your Asus cable. They are $30 at stores like BestBuy or $8 or less on ebay. This includes a female USB plug for your Asus cable and provides 11v, which is slower than using the original adapter 15v, but it works.
great...you cursed me...it was charging...I click your link and read the post...and now mine is not charging.
I sh*t you not.
I also had this problem when my battery was totally drained. When I plugged it in to charge got no orange light so what I did was to trickle charge the asus buy plugging it in via the usb in the computer 6 hours later I got the orange light so I then swapped to the mains charger and charged as normal.
Give that a go

I just ran to office depot...got a new charger and it worked. I guess it has nothing to do with the tablet and moreso the charger. I also stuck my old one in the office freezer (which isn't that cold).
Hopefully it works so I can have one at the office and one at home.
Still waiting in the UK for a charger and cable. :-(

I just transferred a lot of music to the Micro SD card plugged into the dock instead of the tablet and now mine stopped working..something with the charger or cable ....I had got another spare charger the other day...plugged it in and it works .....wierd ....more to follow when charged up later maybe I'll try the freezer trick
If the computer is recognizing the tablet, there is nothing wrong with the cable. It would either be the charger itself or the tablet, but from what I have been reading the charger sounds like its pretty cheap.

Just an FYI, the sparse documentation that came with my tablet said that it would not charge when the screen was on, when plugged into a computer USB.
The first day I got mine, I was worried about the Drain of Death but also heard that people were having trouble after letting the battery charge over night. (Basically I didn't want to sneeze too loud next to this thing after reading the forums ) So when it hit 10% battery I plugged it into my PC and let the thing sleep over night. When I woke up it had only changed to about 38%. All that to say, charging over USB is not ideal in any situation and it truly brings new meaning to "a watched pot never boils"!
+1 for the freezer trick here also.
Stopped charging from the socket and whacking the power unit in the freezer did the trick, I also shut down in between.

Yeah i was really surprised too.
Too bad I ran to Office Depot and bought a replacement while it was in the freezer. Now I have two chagers...one more than I really need (it cost $30!). On the positive side, I have a charger at work and one at home now...not that I really need it because the battery life on this thing is great.

[Q] Triumph suddenly dead!

A few hours ago my girlfriend was just looking at her Triumph (was watching for messages so she wasn't actually doing anything on it) when the screen turned off. Now it wont turn back on. Have tried the power button, turning on the bootloader, and removing the battery for 5 minutes. No matter what we can't get the phone to turn back on. Any ideas on what has just happened? The phone is rooted with gingerbreak with titanium backup installed. That's it. We got the phone at Best Buy and this is our second phone. We're probably past our 30 days so this kind of bugs me! Any idea what we can do from here? Any other tricks to try?
As a quick update, Best Buy tells me that an Exchange counts as an original transaction. So I'm only 17 days into my "new" transaction. I can't believe neither of these Triumphs have lasted more than three weeks :\
Did you have it connected to the charger while using it? I have noticed it gets very hot even without the charger being plugged in. It may have over heated. Just a thought. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

No, the charger wasn't connected at the time. It was just sitting there with the screen on. The Significant Other wonder why it wouldn't turn off so she hit the power button and it didn't do anything. Finally the screen just went black but the backlight was still obviously on so she pulled the battery and put it back in. From there, she pushed the power button and the virgin mobile logo came on and nothing else. She had to remove the battery again. She put the battery back in once more and was able to get the Virgin mobile logo one more time. It froze after the logo and she pulled the battery one more time. After that the phone refused to turn on at all. When connected to the charger it doesn't do anything. Still completely lights out on the phone.
Man that sucks. I hope your able to find a fix.

Same thing happened to me the other day. I let my Triumph lose all its battery to charge it back up 100% (performing a full battery charge cycle), and it will no longer turn on. even when I have it plugged in the red light indicator will not light up most of the time.
Funny thing is, this is also my second exchange from best buy and luckily im still within 30 days and i have a replacement plan. I really suggest getting the replacement plan (its $30, good for a $300 phone), because unlike best buys other mobile protection plans, you dont pay monthly, you're covered for 2 years, and if you get tired of getting the same phone, they will give you a $300 store credit card.
You know my phone did something similar, my phone died and when i went to plug up the charger i got nothing. I think there might be something wrong with the charging ports on these phones, try wiggling the charger while its plugged in, thats what i did and it finally took a charge

upon closer inspection of the charging port, i noticed the female micro usb port was actually pushed further inside, thus preventing most chargers to work. I found a rocketfish charging adapter from best buy that seems to work perfect while my other cable didnt work at all.
As an update, we went back to best buy and sure enough they count the exchange as a new transaction, so I was only 17 days into my second transaction. They exchanged me another phone on the spot and so now we're on the third triumph. GPS checked out ok and the MEID was the correct length. The screen is the worst of the 3 (some pretty bad backlight bleed out onto the screen itself from the sides). I was picky about it but the gf isn't since you can't even see it unless the screen is completely black. So we'll see how this one holds out!
My guess is as was assumed, the battery wasn't getting charged. When the battery was removed for 30 minutes or more we were able to get the logo to show up and nothing more. My guess was the charger wasn't making contact anymore. We wouldn't want to keep a phone like that anyways but it seems like this might be a problem for these phones.
Every once in awhile mine will not power back on. It happened to me a couple of times shortly after I bought the phone.
I tried pulling the battery a couple of times and powering back up, no go.
What worked... remove battery, press power button for a couple of secs, replace battery, power back up. Has worked every time... so far.
My guess is need to drain some capacitors or that I had invoked part of boot recovery sequence without finishing?

Have you noticed the "I just broke my Triumph's Screen"- post? We'll If you saw my cracked Triumph, well that's another issue that I just discovered. The battery drained all the way and now it will not take a charge anymore. This is the exact same problem OP is having. Regarding this issue I will open up my phone sooner or later when I get a new one and take pics. I don't mind seeing wth is in there, maybe everything's held up by Elmer's glue lol. I'll make sure to let everyone know hopefully I'll do this within a couple days.
It seems like dead
If Motorola and VMUSA are not serious about resolving issues for Triumph then this phone will be dead anyways - customers won't be buying those. The number of returns are far more than new purchase. It seems like Motorola stopped manufacturing these.
So this phone will either get Ice Cream Sandwich update or it is end of life for this phone.

Woke up to a dead i727

Hi Guys,
I need thought my own Sky would give me problems since i take care of it so well :crying:
So last night i put the phone on my night table to charge, it had 9% battery left and the phone beeped since i plugged the charger and it was charging, now in the morning when i realize i'm late for work, i went to check my phone and it was dead(no alarm this morning). It was all plugged in still the charger and battery. Now i got to work and a work partner has a Sky too, i tested his battery on my Sky and nothing, tested my battery on his Sky and worked so my battery is fine(it was 100%), i tested my charger on his Sky and charged, i tested his charger on mine and nothing.
Tried plugging the phone with only usb cable to the pc without battery to reach download mode or recovery but nothing.
Now since our batteries are fine and chargers, im assuming my motherboard died which i was thinking if the battery would work it was going to be the charging port.
Is there a way to test each part of the phone o be more accurate about this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Can you get into download, recovery? Any vibration on long press power button? What rom was it on.. How long? Etc. Need a bit more info.

The phone won't do anything at all, i have fixed Sky's power button before and this is really weird. Stock Rom/Kernel, it was Android 4.1.2 and i have it for like 1year and 6 months.
If you need anything else let me know.
One more thing that could help, lately i noticed that the phone wasn't charging as fast as usual.I installed the Skyrocket charging app and when i plugged the charger to the phone it would say Fast Charge A/C 900~ mA and after like 30 seconds it would go down to 800, 700, 600 and then say Charger Wakelock 500~ mA.
Im really starting to think my board died.
Dead board. It happened to me on another Samsung phone a few weeks go. Came home from a day of fun. Put phone on table and plugged it in. Went to bed. Woke up to a completely non responsive phone. Got a new battery just in case. Still nothing. It was a great phone too. Oh well at least it died in it's sleep. lol
it happened to my sons s2 i9100, went to charge it and when he went back to it and it was dead, got it repaired under ext. warranty but cant find invoice on what they fixed if they even stated what they fixed, my guess mobo

OH Jesus Christ, i'll try to get a new mobo then and update this.
And i'll lose all my data and will have to restore a Kies Backup from May-2013. Great!:highfive::victory: :crying:
Had this happen once or twice. It turned out that the usb port on the bottom of the phone had some junk that accumulated in there as well as some signs of minor corrosion, and was not making a good connection anymore. It just needed to be cleaned out. First, I think I just (very carefully) used a needle or safety pin or something like that to gently extract the lint/dust/crap out of the port, and then cleaned up the metal connectors in the port, and one of the back inside corners where I saw a little bit of green/white build up, with a little bit of isopropyl alcohol. I let it sit for a little bit to make sure it was dry and when I plugged it in, it started charging again. I happened to have an Optivisor lying around which made it a bit easier to see what I was doing, but it isn't necessary. The most annoying part was getting a small, focused beam of light from a flashlight into the port at just the right angle, and then figuring out how to keep it there while I worked. Shouldn't take long, and as long as you don't do something really dumb, it can't hurt to give it a try.
Except that he ruled that out by swapping batteries with his friends phone.

Phone got wet, digitizer doesn't work, how to remove access via pc?

TITLE SHOULD SAY "REMOTE ACCESS"
I got my phone slightly wet and tried drying it on the heater vent and using dry rice for a few days, but my digitizer still doesn't work. The screen comes on and the softkeys work just fine, but I can't swipe to unlock my screen (I have a password with the dots).
I was able to get my screen to come up on my pc with "droid at screen" but then figured out I can't control anything with that program.
I've seen where some people swap the motherboard out with another GS3 and that works to backup data, my wife also has a GS3 so I might try that later, but it's not an option right now.
My moisture stickers were not tripped so as soon as I back everything up and set the phone back to it's original non rooted state and have Verizon warranty it.
I would really prefer to go through the phone and backup things that way, but haven't found anything that will allow me to control my phone from the PC. I know my screen password, so if I can just get something that will allow me to control the phone, I can unlock it with my mouse and figure everything else out from there.
Is this possible somehow where I'm rooted and have USB Debugging enabled?
I do have teamviewer installed, but can't use it without being able to use my phones screen.
Never mind, I fixed the phone!!!
I wish this was posted in a more relevant place in case it might help people in the future, but I took the back off, removed the sd/sim cards, removed all screws and unplugged the LCD connector. I noticed that it was corroded from the water, so I took some q-tips with alcohol and scrubbed it really really well. Making sure it was good and dry, I snapped the LCD connector back to the motherboard and booted the phone.
SUCCESS!!!!!

For your future reference if you dropped your phone in water. First poweroff the phone immediately, remove the batter, sdcard and sim card, then dip the phone in a bucket of RICE, let it sit there for at least 2 days. The rice will suck all the water out of your phone. Also check your USB port, usually the port will malfunction. Plug your phone to the wall AC charger see if it stills work.

I know but the rice only help suck out the water but not corrosion, this you need to clean. Have you check the usb port with wall AC charger see if it's ok? My kids dropped their phone in the water 3 times and 2 out of 3 the usb port screw up.

This was also happening to mine and I cleaned the charging port with a qtip and alcohol. I flattened the qtip first so it would fit up inside, just be careful that the tip does not have loose cotton. Hth
I had similar issues and also my HTC USBC headphones stopped working. I ordered a new charging port and did it myself. It wasn't too bad. hardest part was taking the back off.
HOWEVER. I have a new issue after the phone worked fine for months after doing that. I recently got a message onscreen that the charging is causing a problem and to disconnect the charger immediately. So I do. Mind you this is the same chargers I've been using for 2 years. Now, the phone WILL NOT charge with ANY charger while it has battery. Once the battery dies, it will charge back up to 100%. This has happened 3x in a row over the past 3 days. Has anyone ever experienced this?
I should say, one of the chargers I got new and it went into the USB C port a little funny. If you've ever used different chargers you might know what I mean. However, it supported quick charge and worked months before one of my other main chargers stopped working, and then a few weeks later I got the above message. Anyone have this happen to them?

That's scary, do you think it could be the replacement charging port failing again?
I tried to clean it with alcohol, seems better at first but then back to the same. I read somewhere to use a business card to try to take out any lint/dirt whatever, I did take out some dirt, but then now the charging port can't hold the cable tight, it's kind of loose. I ordered a charging port and a battery (looks like easy swap once the back is open), wish me luck.

Dont forget to ground yourself before disassembly, I learned the hardway. Also it helps to use a hair dryer to soften the glue that holds the back and battery in place!! Hth

OK, so the charging port managed to come Sat morning before I had to take off for an overnight trip. In anticipation of that, I began taking off the back before the charging port arrived. It was really the hardest part of the whole fix, but I still managed to take it off in 15 or 20 mins... not too bad. Then the part came and the swap was pretty straightforward. It's charging properly now, yay!
I also ordered a battery (from a different seller though) and it is only coming today. So I didn't glue the back yet. The original battery was not terrible, but taking the chance to replace it.
OK, swapped out the battery as well, will have to see how good it is. Accubattery reports my original battery as around 1800mah.
