Hi All,
Since long time I'm using ROM's from this forum and am quite happy with them!! Now that most ROM development for the WIZARD seems to retire I would consider one final upgrade to WM6.5. Question is: which one would be best in stability and speed? Up to now I spotted the Iphone killer rom from tech teamup and the CR96 WM6.5 RC5 from cracing. Since the last rom I've been using is the CR96 Touch HD 3.0.0 I would consider the CR96 rom, but the other one seems to be more recent.
What would you recommend? Or should I just stay with WM6.1 if I want speed and stability?
Greetings,
Mogwai
Stay with WM6.1 - try Ham3r's roms (H3r5 ) - they are fast, and have lot of free ram
My favorites are WM6.1: H3r5 or Scripted Angel by RoryB.
But you asked about WM6.5, and in that domain my favorite is CR96 RC5 Reloaded. Ham3r has the most recent WM6.5, a good, clean beta.

I just have my new device Mda Vario III, and i really dont like what T-mobile put on the device.

Right now im looking for a stable, tweaked / bug fixed ROM WWE or Dutch.

It's pretty much user preference, your best bet would be to try them all and see which best fits your needs.
Agreed lots of cooked roms out there and more to come.
shaps will be releasing his roms soon as well
I've tried different ROMS for my imate JASJAR so far. What's your opinion which one is the most stable one for Universal?
I found latest BL rom the most stable so far. I was about to end with my universal in ebay but after seeing this I gave it a new opportunity.
Mo3ulla's ROMs if speed and no extra apps are your priority
Jason's ROMs if you can sacrifice speed for some must-have apps
Beasty and Leo's ROMs if you want better UI and applications
Yet to test N.N.Cuong and Lt Cdr Ivan's ROMs!!
your choice, no ROM has complete functionality or is perfectly stable, although all of these are pretty darn close!
For all the experts...im finding that there are some clean ATT roms and then you got people like dutty who is using 19588...is there a difference in rom itself ?? Call me a newb but I really wanted to find out because there doesn't seem to be a difference related to speed on the base roms but there might be difference in sip and software...???
also with the new htc diamond are being installed on both but i haven't heard of anyone having issues...

19213 is original WM Kaiser build from HTC, 19588 is original WM Diamond build from HTC
basically it is just updated set of few files in kaiser WM OS build from newer builds of WM OS as these are released to public

Wow, that's really insightful. You must be a professional developer with years of embeded CE experience. "Some files & stuff."

The difference greatly depends on who the chef is. Some just use the Diamond xip & call their rom a 19588, some have added the XIP + some of the dynamic Libraries, some have added all previously stated + some of the Diamond Apps.
Not all 19588 versions are the same as not all 19213 Versions are the same. You also can't compare them really as the 19588 is not a Kaiser Rom, but parts of it have been ported to be functional on the Kaiser.
There is definitely some speed & functionality differences though. Some of the chefs usign the 19588 have obtained higher bitbit benchmark scores using the Diamond Ported XIP & Libraries. Not that you'll really notice too much, most of the good chefs are working at speeding things up in the milli & microsecond range.
The only thing that really matters though, is how it feels in your hands. Does it feel faster to you, does it allow for the use of the apps you frequently install & use.
hi guys,
i'm a bit confused, what is currently the best 6.1 rom for the tornado?
thanks!
Good question !
Just check each version and pick the one with the features you need.
Yeah! good question and best answer is check all the roms available here one by one all yourself.
My experience is 6.1 pro by Kamikadze is the best with all taste of PPC but you need some tweaking/mapping hard keys to functions of your prefer.
OK don't trust anybody .. you are the best judge.

For me it WM6.1 Plane Jane Final as long as you install it properly
IMHO at this time WM6.1 Clean 5.2.19202 (Build 19202.1.0.0) Eval is best 6.1 rom.
Why?
-plain and clean, no custom graphics, themes etc.
-no custom apps - everybody have own favourite apps...
-FAST !!
Of course if You don't mind lack of xt9 (beside EN or RU) and a bit troubling controls the best is WM6.1 PRO RC5!!!made by Kamikadze
-PRO!!!
-Tornados fastest rom
Yep, the best ROM should be at least Clean and Fast....
Maybe this is not the place to post this question, but somehow related: which version is the most widely installed in the devices?

There really is no way of telling that 'cos you don't know what people have installed. And to be honest, as others have said in this thread, it's all down to personal taste. You have to try them all and see which one suits your needs / or appeals to you. My personal opinion is that WM6 is more stable on the Tornado than WM6.1, although I do like the additional features you get with 6.1... it doesn't cost you anything to try the ROM's, apart from a little time.
One giveaway to the most used, is the ROM's with the most posts
Yeah, you're right. And regardign the WM6.1 Standard Vs. the WM6.1 PRO... how is the balance? The PRO is a bit of a gamble in a Tornado, ins't it? I'd say most people will go the safe way and choose Standard?

I got my SDA about 10 days ago and wanted to upgrade from WM5 to WM6.
Installed:
1. WM6 English ROM Platinum Edition (Service Pack 1) OS 5.2.1711.18165.0.5.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365023
It's NOT WM6.1 , too many programs I don't need. Seems to have to many buggy menus. Didn't like it.ββ
2. [Release 11Jun08] WM6.1 (not so) Plain Jane - 5.2.19202 (Build 19202.1.0.0) FINAL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406716
This one is 6.1, quite nice, has cool progs. It felt slow and unresponsive and I didn't like home menu and didn't want to bother editing itβ
3. [Mar 27, 2008] WM6.1 Clean 5.2.19202 (Build 19202.1.0.0) Eval
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375670
The one I use now. Neat and fast. No bugs!β
Hi all... yes I'm not a newbie! However, I'm asking a newbie question because I am looking for a good stable ROM for a friend. He has a 64MB Uni and I want to upgrade his ROM to a stable 6.1 ROM (currently he has WM5, so I figure 6.1 isn't too different in looks, but in usability is much better).
I obviously thought of a Tomal ROM, but seeing as I have 128MB machine it suddenly dawned on me that I didn't know what was best for 64MB. Howabout v8.9? Or v7.7 seems to be very popular?
I see that ngochoangimsat also has his latest 21055 out.
I'm obviously looking for stability. I don't need all the wizz-bang UI (he's an elderly gentleman), but obviously nothing clunky either! A simple interface that's stable and has a fair amount of memory left for a 64MB machine.
With thanks guys & gals...
Hi Jonny
Go for Tomal 8.5 or 8.2
Or the latest Beasty & Laurentius ROM
Both are very stable.
Cheers,
Hello!
I recommended you tommal 8.9. I use it and it's very stable, very useful, with big menus so you can touch the screen without pen. Works perfect with 128dpi.
See you!
definitely tomal 8.5 and 8.2 are good and 8.9 is bit hi-fi... if you looking for more ram then either ngochoangimsat or thingsonaspring v1.1
