Buufed has changed to cSrOm to allow for themes. The default theme being "Buufed".
cSrOm 2.1.7 OC'd + JIT + UV'd by crunchybutternut (now available via ClockworkMod Rom Manager in the market!)
OverClocking: The included OCed kernel defaults to 710mhz. If you do not want to go higher there is nothing you need to do as it automatically will clock down to conserve battery when higher speeds are not needed.
If you want to overclock to a higher frequency use SetCPU (or Overclock Widget, from the market). The Hero settings for SetCPU are built in already.
To activate built in settings:
1. Open SetCPU. 2. Menu. 3. Device Selection. 4. Show Other Frequencies. 5. Custom Frequencies. 6. Ok. 7. Ok. 8. Then customize to your preferred settings.
JIT: JIT is already enabled by default. If you want to turn it off simply type these commands in terminal emulator from your phone: To Disable JIT:
su
jit-off
To Re Enable JIT:
su
jit-onA little back story:
This project initially started out by porting a theme to our Heros for Metamorph. (link)
After finishing the port I realized that there was a significant part of the OS that had not been themed at all. I then proceeded to do it all manually, but eventually discovered that using Metamorph limited how deeply I could take the theme.
I them worked on a flashable zip that would work with multiple base Roms, but have since decided that I did not want to keep up support for a lot of different Roms.
Hence... Buufed was born.
Important Stuff:
To take advantage of all features of Buufed-2.0 + you will need the attached recovery image in the download section.
As always, please to a Nandroid backup first!
It is necessary to wipe EVERYTHING (data/dalvic/ext) before flashing the 2.0b ROM!
This ROM includes Apps2sd natively, activated in settings (Menu > Settings > Applications > Apps2SD), and supports ext3 (ext4 works for some).
First boot takes ~5-10 minutes!

PLEASE Do Not Flash Themes for old version of the ROM. Only use themes for the version of the ROM you are running or you will experience problems.

Awesome - I had previously used Buuf for Open Home back before I rooted my phone. Gotta love those icons!!
It's beautiful, most of the custom themed roms are too themed or not themed enough or mixed themes or just suck...this is beautiful.
This is fantastic, I had to give up using Buuf due to metamorph problems, glad it's a full ROM now.

Was simply going to fix the link, but have decided to upgrade the ROM to be based off of Fresh 2.1.2.
Just wishing I had not put all of that time into deodexing it on my own, haha!

I used an older version of metamorph and changed some icons then I ended up in a bootloop and couldnt get out without wiping everything. Is the new metamorph more stable?

I'm guna try n throw the boot.img from fresh toast in here n see if that work when I get home

I have not maintained the Metamorph since April, but I would think the Pro version would work better because that is what I created it for.
The theme uses the new .xml format for the latest version. I think I also created a .thm file to go along with it, but the Pro version of Metamorph includes fixes for the problems when morphing framework-res.apk.

I will probably not create another ROM that is pre-themed.. but I might update the CDMA-Buuf theme to be more compatible with current ROMs.

I'd be interested in either version, as a full fledged ROM would just be too time intensive for you.
is the .zip method gonna theme as deep as the rom would've?

It's too possible open file pinky-desire.conf at root your SD card via your text editor or direct at your Desire (you need Astro, ES File Manager etc). Change values 0/1 for your satisfaction, restart. Easy, uh? :-D

Yes, it's with Sense. I don't use Sense too, it's easy download Launcher Pro :-D. My "Sense" looks now as this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722983 :-D

i know this but i want original android with original phone app, contacts, lockscreen etc. because the whole HTC-GUI is pure ****.
Ok noobs if you don't like sense why have a desire? Or at least learn how to read it says sense in the bloody title. Is it so difficult to read.
And if you want 2.2 with out sense bloody dev it yourself or look at open desire.
2.2 official got released today not even the master nprussel could produce a stripped down Rom in that time.
Be bloody happy that this great dev had de odexed it.

I have been very interested in the porting of ROM's to other devices for a while now, and so i thought i would give it a go and see what i could port succesfully for my own use, but now i feel that 'ICY-SMOKE' is stable enough to be released for general consumption
'ICY-SMOKE' is ported from the newer 'MyTouch4G' android 2.3.4 release > 2.19.531.1
I have removed most T-Mobile specific app's , and i have also removed 99% of T-Mobile Pink icons, and decompiled the apk's and replaced the pink .png's within them as well

'Smokey Power Tool' ['S.P.T'] is another project i am currently working on, its an upcoming app which is included in version 3.1 of ICY-SMOKE and up

Finally got around to installing this rom and wow. I like it very much, its fast, smooth, and so far no FC or things like that. I love that I get best of both worlds, it even has both phone apps, HTC and aosp. ROM should be called something like Hybrid-senseless. . Thank very much for your work. Will continue to use it and will report any bugs I come across, if any.

I downloaded you rom and tried to open the .zip to edit some things, and it said that it was password protected. Is there any way to edit the rom prior to flashing it? Thanks
I haven't applied a password on the zip. The only thing I can think of is the frameworks.apk from Shnizlon is protected by 7-zip. Try downloading and using that. it is free. Sorry this is all I can think of.

I haven't applied a password on the zip. The only thing I can think of is the frameworks.apk from Shnizlon is protected by 7-zip. Try downloading and using that. it is free. Sorry this is all I can think of.

on 1.3 1/2 also. aosp. still getting the htc.bg.com error on reboot.only then but doesnt seem to affect anything.
I am not sure if the 1.3 1/2 ROM on my dropdox was effected, but check out the gallery apk. Is it working? The one I was uploading to my site wasn't and was freezing the phone. Thanks and let me know.

What is Odex?

What is ODEX and DEODEX?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These odex files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applicationsdifficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
THEN COMES DEODEX
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating theworry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
Another explanation is this:
If you odex the rom, you'll have also more space in data (this is important because if you don't have partition ext4 in sdcard, you won't have too free space), increase battery life, more stability and increase perfomance( the Rom is more faster to load system and app) but you can't modifie apk after odex (you can't mod program with classes.dex).
Infact ODEX is an OPTIMIZED-DEX and Android load system and app faster than deodexed (DEOPTIMIZED-DEX) app and system.
When you have a deodex file (a lot of roms are deodexed) you have File.apk in system/app and in data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@[email protected], but with odex file you have File.apk in system/app and File.odex in system/app
With these explanation you can understand that:
Odexed Rom = +fast -difficult_customization +more_battery_life +better_stability +less_ram_utilization
Deodexed Rom = -slow +customization -less_battery_life -less_stability -worse_ram_manager
How to ?
Open Terminal emulator apk (Is in the rom)
* Type su and press enter (Grant root permissions)
* Type odex and press enter
* Type all and press enter (wait to the process to finish and then reboot the phone)
Note: you will need to redo this every time you reinstall the rom, if you run any theme flash it after start the odex process to prevent FC, no worrys for xposed modules works fine on deodex or odex.
