didn't flash at all
we need a proper odin flasher

I used this one to flash the stock rom after a partial brick last night
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/noobnl/Odin3epic.rar

Just to let you guys know odin never flash the first time for me with my captivate. It just hangs and never flashs. After I reboot I get a screen with phone and pc. I use a button combo from there to get to download mode then flash again and it works. Not sure why it never works the first time. Not sure if the epic has the same issue but if it does this could be way its not working.
From this screen:

Take out your sim card, removable sd card, battery and open Odin3(you must open odin3 before you start or it won't flash. Do NOT put your sim or sd card back in).
Put the battery in.
Plug in USB. (the phone will power on and goto the phone+!+computer screen)
Hold down both Volume buttons, and then push and hold the power button. Hold all three and do NOT let go!
Wait for it to go black and return to the phone+!+computer screen.
When it goes black the 2nd time release the power button and keep holding the volume buttons.
You should now be in download mode, click start on Odin, wait for it to finish and start enjoying your phone again!

Yes, I really wanna know this. If this can be done, we ALL know Koush would be proud to support it. A few donations and we could have another addition to the Clockwork Family.

I've been looking at the 1-click flasher, but have been a bit nervous to do it before a nandroid backup is available. Is the plan right now to wait for Koush and noobnl to finish the clockworkmod recovery except for people who are highly adept at recovering their phones?

SWEET here we go let the fun start.
ok so still the only way to get into this recovery is by pulling the battery?
Also what do you think would happen with flashing an evo theme?

Probably crash like hell. And you can get to the Recovery by using the button commands when the phone is off.

Alright I'm totally new to the Samsung Android scene. I've got tons of experience with HTC & Moto devices though, so I'm not a total noob.
What do you mean by get radio back? Do you lose radio if you flash this? I'm so confused by all this.

Yeah, on odin3 when you flash under "phone" you lose radio.

Is there a way for us linux or mac users to flash this without having to install windows or set up a virtual machine?

curious I fairly new to the samsung game with ODIN but why can't we push recovery though ADB or the Terminal like other android phones?

Problem Installing Driver

I am new to the whole flashing thing. I read a number of guides last night and was finally ready to do it. I downloaded Odin 1.82, had my drivers installed from this thread (Or so I thought) and tried to flash. In Odin, it hangs at "Setupconnection". I couldn't figure out what the problem was and then I noticed when I plug in my Droid Charge, this is what I get...

Odin detects my phone, and I'm able to access the SD card on it from my PC, but like I said it doesn't flash...and I assume that's because of not every driver having been installed. How can I resolve this issue? I'm using the drivers that this site and a number of other sources say to use. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, different cables and different PCs, as well as different versions of Odin.
What confuses me is what I'm reading says to boot into Download Mode with the battery out. How am I supposed to do this when it's not plugged in and no battery? Also, is my phone supposed to stay on when plugged in and the battery is out? Because mine keeps turning off when the battery comes out.

I feel like an idiot. It's working now, thanks a ton. I think I was in recovery mode. I flashed CWM and am now planning to flash Tweak using Odin. What exactly is CWM and how do I use it if I need to? My understanding was that it's a recovery tool. Also for Tweak, I notice one download has a kernel and one doesn't. As a noob, what do these things mean and which should I go with?
After you Odin the rom and cwm, you want to boot into cwm and flash a custom Kernal before you allow the phone to reboot, otherwise the stock Kernal will overwrite CwM with the original recovery... Unless you odin the package that has the Kernal in which case CwM would stick.
FYI - CWM should stick on either of the tweakstock Odin files

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to give bad info. You have me curious now... Is there something in the process that stops the Kernal from overwriting the recovery?

No worries - there's an install-recovery.sh script in /system/media/ that - when removed - leaves CWM alone.

Bricked my Skyrocket

I was flashing a new rom last night and it stopped right in the middle of it. Now when I turned it on the only thing I get is the samsung logo. I can't get into recovery mode to install my rom again. Any suggestion anyone?
If you cant get in to cwm than Go to download mode and using odin go back to stock. Reroot again.

Ok so after getting into Download Mode.
-Go ahead and Go to Odin (Check "auto-reboot", and uncheck all other options).

Sent via smoke signal
thanks guys. I was able to flash it back to stock based on above instruction
Instead of making a new thread, figured i would try here first.
Long story short, my skyrocket wont boot into recovery or cmw. I've tried both countless times, and all i can ever get is a quick flash of a battery icon. It still vibrates (gosh i hope thats a good sign of life) and has been plugged into the wall with stock cable/charger for about an hour now.
Basically, flashed the phone via cmw, waited 30+ minutes for it to reboot, it wouldnt, and now i have the problem described above. Battery was at about 40% when i flashed, but was plugged into my computer.
Any help? Maybe i need an external battery charger?

can you get the phone into download mode? unplug phone, pull battery and reinsert, press vol up/down at the same time and plug usb into phone, contine holding vol up/down until download mode arrears, basically have you followed the instructions in the post mentioned above?
Yes, I did try that, with no luck.
I actually got it, though. I pulled the battery countless times, did the whole download mode thing, cwm thing, and let it charge for an hour... so on, with no luck.
As an almost last resort, i ended up pulling the battery and leaving it out for 15 minutes after charging it for another hour. Once i reinserted it, i got it go into cwm, mounted my card, downloaded/flashed a new rom and I'm good to go.
Thanks for your help tho!

In Odin I had to download Keis Air because my computer was not installing drivers for the phone. once i downloaded Keis Air and plugged in the phone it recognized it and finished installing the drivers. I did a computer reboot and when I follow the steps I get a YELLOW highlighted box in ODIN under the ID:COM part that says 0:[COM3] in yellow.
I hit start but nothing happens.

Ah shucks. I was able to use the SU files from the t989 and it worked for me.
Is there a difference in what I did and what the root kernel will do?
rooted kernel has a few perks to it that k0nane threw in . hopefully you guys can now attract some devs and start working on roms/cm . we aim to please, just remember us the next time you have a device that isnt getting much love ;P
SCossio from what i understand the key combo gets you into a quasi-downloadmode, need to hit vol up to confirm to enter download mode and then you can plug it in and begin to flash this
perhaps some nice blaze owner can make a how-to video? sorry if our instructions seem off or vague, myself or k0nane have never seen this phone let alone touched one, so we rely on you guys (blaze owners) to help with these kinds of things.
Here is a video on how to successfully enter download mode every time.

i highly suggest you guys check out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager to download all your roms etc, just the same as rom manager except you can use any recovery you wnat. same rules still apply... if your devs dont post roms/kernels to goo then they dont show up in teh app
Pre-reqs?
Use odin to install the rooted kernel first, then clockworkmod, correct?
This is my first time rooting. I just wanted to double check that the clockworkmod image didn't contain the rooted kernel already.
Dedridd
It doesn't although for the sake of only incrementing the flash counter once it probably could be consolidated.
However, if you flash CWM its a simple process of flashing the SU binary zip package from the sdcard with CWM, same end result.
I keep getting this message when I try and run odin on my Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4g I know that I am doing everything right maybe it is my phone

Total n00b here.. with a stupid question. (or twenty).
Let's say, if this "Clockworkmod Recovery for Blaze" was installed via Odin and then Rom Manager app flashed with Clockworkmod Recovery for Galaxy S 2, what happens to the previous files (loaded via Odin)? Do both recoveries co-exist? Or does one replace the other? and if so, can this process be repeated again?
I'm just trying to understand this process.
[Update]: I repeated the process described in this thread, figuring that having recovery for some other phone model would not be a good idea, probably not be a well functioning recovery... everything seemed to have worked great but how can I verify that I have the correct version of recovery now? (I apologize for another stupid question in advance).

Well I screwed up

Okay, so SOMEHOW I downloaded the crespo factory images and flashed the bootloader and then the radio. The system update wouldn't flash and this is when I realized my horrible mistake. So I downloaded the correct factory images. But now, I have no USB access on the thing. Can't fastboot. Can't adb. Phone boots and charges over usb. I can reboot into the bootloader, but my computer doesn't recognize the phone is even attached. I can reboot into recovery (I still have CWM on there) but what can I do from there? Am I TOTALLY ****ed? Please please please help!.....
I think what I need is a CWM flashable bootloader zip file. Or a complete OTA ROM Update zip file that flashes ROM, radio, and bootloader. Since I have CWM I think either of these will work for me, but I can 't find anything like this for the Nexus S 4G. Can anyone help?

I flashed the CRESPO bootloader and radio via fastboot. Then when I tried to flash the ROM update via fastboot it gave me an error. This is when I noticed I was using the CRESPO files instead of the CRESPO 4G files.... Now, after rebooting, my computer WILL NOT recognize the phone at all via usb, in any way, fastboot, ODIN, nothing. But otherwise the phone seems fine. It charges over USB. It boots and I can get into recovery (and I still have CWM) so if I could download a file over wifi (which I can, already tried) and then flash said file via CWM that would flash the new bootloader, I'd be good to go.

Did you ever get this resolved? I did something VERY similar when I first started modding on this phone, and experienced VERY similar issues. I have an AWESOME fix, even though it leaves the download screen looking like the oem unlock screen if you put oem lock back on (otherwise it looks normal, and who the heck would do that is beyond me - I only found it when I originally took it back to COMPLETE stock), but it functions fine, and this will take you back to gb, but it seems like the 'fixall' for this phone, and you can always reroot, reflash cwm via fastboot, etc, after using it.
Let me know.
Peace..

Upon testing the CWM by booting into recovery, this boot screen issue started.
- I've tried hard resetting, (no success, won't go past the Samsung screen).
- I'm currently using Odin to restore stock firmware, but it's been about 25 minutes so it's probably not working.
- I can only get to Samsung screen and download mode, that's it!
I need my phone and I need to get some sleep. what am I missing? Much appreciated
thanks
here's a shot of Odin right now. It's stuck on "setup connection"

Here is what I used to Un-boot loop my phone worked like a charm, the instructions we're a little un-clear but if you read through it, a few times, it's really rather easy. You need to download Java (Jave Runtime Enviorment, also known as JRE I used OpenJDK Java 7) on your computer, download the Heimdall one click packages, put your phone in download mode:
-Pull the battery out and make sure the phone is NOT connected by a usb cable.
-Put the battery back in!
-Hold vol up+Vol down. DO NOT PRESS POWER.
-Plug in the USB cable.
Open the downloaded heimdall one click with java (in Ubuntu Context menu Windowz is likely the same) and it will return your phone back to stock which is where you want to start for I believe almost all the JB ROMs. If you search around Quickster made some other One click packages to get you rooted and CWM installed as well as Kernels and other stuff. These things work great and to me are a million times easier than every other method.Good luck and if there's any other help I can provide I'll do my best

I can't get into download mode anymore. I used to be able to prior to trying Kies. Now I can only get to an icon with a white phone with two dots and a computer icon with a yellow hazard triangle in between them (emergency mode logo). I can't get to any download mode no matter what, at least that's not displayed. I think Odin recognized it last night with this new emergency mode, but everything i tried failed

Perhaps try to use the Heimdall "back to stock" while in that Emergency mode. The Heimdall program will also tell you if it recognizes a phone attached in download mode, and if it will recognize the phone and flash you back to stock, you can also have it put you back on stock bootloaders which sounds like your problem (though flashing bootloaders is dangerious but in your case may be nessessary). Maybe PM Quickster see if he recommends trying to flash with Heimdall on that mode you've entered, I might also try using an alternate USB cable if you haven't already.

The computer icon with a yellow hazard triangle in between them is a form of download. Use Heimdall after making sure you have the correct JRE and drivers.

I have the stock firmware from Samsung. that includes the drivers I presume? the md5 file
holy smokes I'm so relieved it worked!
So, I used Heimdall's froyo Uck3 firmware or whatever since that's what was in the package. I still want Jelly bean. I have the JB folder with what I suppose I need (think it was from android geeks). However, since this was painless, is there a Heimdall one click for JB?

I haven't seen a Heimdall for JB, or any custom ROM I think because it requires a special PIT file to make. I used this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129 To flash It though you have to be on the Gingerbread bootloaders, and the instructions for flashing it want you to even flash CM9 ICS, before you flash the final JB ROM. Basically follow the instructions thoroughly or you'll end up in a boot loop ( Not that that's a big deal, now that you have a quick easy way out)
meanhs sal
darn, I'll have to see if JB is really worth it to take the chance again. I also noticed that froyo version from the Heimdall is quirky with some apps. I turn the phone on and several apps just close on me. I get the buzz of death (the one and three) as i like to call it
I'm pretty sure there's Gingerbread version of the Heimdall one click, I'd flash that as almost all the newer Roms are going to require you at least have upgraded to the Gingerbread bootloaders.
