Hey bro u would do much better to use apk manager and decompile the app. Then use notepad++ to edit the XML files. That way the XML files are readable XML instead of bianary XML. U can edit the layout folder and the values folder(resources.arsc when recompiled) u will get much better results. Then recompile the apk. Ull have to resign the apk. Then u can change out the PNG files. Its really not hard. And much easier than trying to edit the bianary XML files and the bianary resources.arsc file. If u need help find me on gtalk

[REQUEST] [WIDGET] Transparent News and Weather Widget?

I searched through this forum and didn't find anything so here ya go!
Is there a morph or something similar that will change the stock black background of the default News and Weather widget and make that black background transparent? I only ever use the weather part if that makes a difference.
Thanks!
Buck

Okay, pardon the complete noobness on my part, but how do I install/apply this? The only modifying I've ever done is straight through Metamorph...
its a metamorph theme...just extract the folder inside the zip to the androidthemes folder then apply it..
Thanks for the theme, but I was unable to install it. It said metamorph could not , because a file was missing.

K, what I figured. But I get the same related error message.
Thanks for hooking this up though!

I'm feeling kinda dumb here. This is my first time using metamorph.
I removed the nested folder and rezipped, but still get that same error.
The folder structure is as so:
TransparentGenie.zip
|
geniewidget (folder)
.nomedia (file)
TrebsparentGenie.thm
Inside geniewidget folder there is:
res/drawable-hdpi/(bunch of pngs)
I press the unzip/extract new theme and select the zip and it still gives me the same error. Am I missing something?
this is easier, modded apk (froyo)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8831176&postcount=187
when you move it to system/app/ overwrite the old file (the filename in the above post needs renaming)
added a new Genie Widget here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10933922&postcount=484

[THEME] [HELP] needed...modifying apk

so i started modifying the music.apk
I changed the background color and it works fine
I changed the color of the appwidget_inner_focus_l.9 file, but once the apk is installed and I use trackball to focus on the widget, I get this image:

I know someone had an issue like this before but I cant find the thread anymore
You might have to modify the size or make the png image smaller to keep the size ratio. Find the original png and scale your image to it's size. Hope that helps!

sorry i thought you were reiterating the question. .9 pngs are a hassle to edit, but when you do it right all will be good. good luck. and your welcome

Any 9.png Specialists?

Just modding my new 2.1 framework-res but there are a couple of images that need editing such as the statusbar which I've attached. Can someone colour the statusbar_background.9 black and resize the status_bar_close_on.9 to 92x44 please, as I just don't have the confidence with that.

You need to decompile the apk's with apk manager (need adb installed) then, in the decompiled apk, open it and go to /system/res/drawable-hdpi (or mdpi, if it's that), and look for the icon in there.
Easier way....copy those apps whose icons you want to change to your hard drive. change extensions from .apk to .zip and then go the /system/res/drawable-hdpi as mentioned above.

Don't know, but you could use APK Multi Tool, System APK doesn't need to be signed but other do
Nice job BTW

very nice screens
how did you change the battery icon in the notification bar???
Thank you, very easily. Just go to uot.dakra.lt/ and follow the guide (HOW TO).
Basically you have to: chose the mod you like (not all of them works though - I've succeeded with battery, icons:emoticons and status bar (but not power buttons), popup, fonts (but not windows animations) and upload your: framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk, twframework-res.apk.* Kitchen will do everything for you. GO to PICKUP to receive your zip and flash it with cwm.
*You can get them with root explorer or via adb:
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb pull /system/framework/twframework-res.apk
adb pull /system/app/SystemUI.apk

Okaay, I uploaded the res folder after decompiling apk, i think you'll need to edit \res\values\strings.xml file, open it with notepad++ (yes, it's necassary) & there's a line like this:
Code:
<string name="app_name">ES File Explorer</string>
Not sure if it will work, just edit the "ES File Explorer" to how you want it.. Then u can send your edited strings.xml & i'll compile & see if it's changed
