Hello, I was just wondering..The other day, I flashed Froyo on my dream. Now, Ive used alot of different Roms before and I noticed something. On Froyo, Even though I have swap enabled, I have the option to Un mount? I tried it and it works! I can remove my SD without turning off the phone or freezing. Now I know that you DON'T have the option to unmount on Roms earlier than Froyo. But can anyone tell me how to bring this setup over to some Roms before Froyo? Im running Super E right now on my other Dream and I hate how I always have to turn off the phone just to remove the SD. Thanks

Hmm... I'm using Swapper 2. It's have an option to auto unmount swap partition before card will be ejected
Oh, sorry, I forgot.
Use Mount USB app

No, I mean REMOVING the SD card from the phone WITH Swap and apps2sd enabled.
Try getting rid of swap, and there is an option for this on all ROMs. I'm running Super E and looking at it right now.
So I have to disable swap every time I want to remove my SD?
no. when you use the unmount option from the settings menu, it will automatically disable swap if using swapper.
You wont be able to access those apps while your sd card is removed from the phone.
Un mount is grayed out on settings...

Is there anyway to partition the sd card on the thunderbolt? I have tried 2 different times via clockwork recovery, an both times its failed, resulting in a hangup in recovery.
my question is to why you would want to? apps2sd doesnt need the partition anymore. are you gonna use a swap partition? which im not sure will even work on this phone yet. i couldnt say how but curious as to why.
So if it doesn't need partitioning how do you utilize apps2sd

It's been built into Android since froyo got released. It's under manage apps. If internal storage isn't filling up there's no reason to put apps on SD though

One reason to partition it is to be able to use ext3 or 4 and or swap. Froyo apps2sd actually partitions your sd for you but only a small size and It is only ext

You can take it out, put it into an adapter, and partition on a mac or a pc. Although, I agree there does not seem to be any point at least on this device for the moment

Is it better to just use the move to sd function within froyo or is it better to download app2sd and use that from the market?
it's built in to the phone, just try it and find out...
As others have stated, you dont need apps2sd on 2.2 roms or higher. It was only needed for 2.1 roms.
It is built into the applications menu. you should see the option to move to sd card. Some apps cant be moved du to their programing and if their are a secured app. Even with apps2sd you might not want to move these (if you could) because with roms, it may cause bad effects to the operation of the app or its widget if that app uses widgets (especially if you use the widget) shouldnt be moved to sd cards as they may start acting up as well and the widget will disappear from the home screen on reboot.
I am rooting my daughters Droid Eris. I used the app from the market and flashed Cyanogen 7. Everything went well until I tried to start restoring her apps and found that the phone is saying there is no sd card. When I go into setting to mount it it is greyed out and wont do anything. the gallery and rom manager also say there is no sd card. the card I am using is not partitioned. I tried taking a partitioned sd out of my old Cliq and putting it in and then it says it has a unsupported system or something like that but I did notice that the mount sd in settings was no longer greyed out. If I reboot into recovery it will recognize the card because it lists what is on it. I have searched everything I can find and cant find any answers. Oh, also, when I plug in the usb to the computer it does nothing then either. Any Ideas??
When I put the partitioned card in from the cliq it says blank card or unsupported file system. I tried to hit mount card in setting but it just says blank card and It is not a blank card.
Hi xda,
I just got myself a G2x (t-mobile) running stock rooted 2.3.3. I'm having one small issue, Storage. It seems that the phone detects the Internal storage(phone memory) as the primary SD card therefore limiting me to 5GB. And if it gets full it just warns me. It does not switch to the micro sd card.
What I want to know, is there a zip that I can flash to blank/disable the phone storage. I've tried about 6+ roms but the only one that seems to disable or have control over it is Cyanogenmoded roms or the ICS rom.
I would like to stay with the Stock rom that I have because of performance/bugs reasons. Also the camera works superb(smooth in low lighting) only on the Stock roms.
You might try Unmount in Settings, but it may go back when you reboot the phone.

Thanks, but it does not work. I decided to go with Eagles Blood ICS rom. Now my 16GB SD card is primary and the internal storage is disable. This rom is better than the other ISC rom I've tried.
I'm having similar problems with my phone. My SD card used to work, not it's unmountable. I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like it just died on me. I tried mounting it in Windows and through CWM.
I was going to post this in the AOKP rom page but i figured it'd get seen more here and maybe its not even a problem related to the rom. I recently installed the AOKP rom located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831858. everything was great the first day then i started getting random reboots and losing my data. So I flashed a back up and still got the same problems. I lost my data yesterday, fixed that by manually changing the APN settings and everything was fine other than still getting random reboots. today I went to take a picture and it says "no external storage". I opened root explorer and I can access my EXTERNAL SD card but not the INTERNAL. I tried to mount in via the setting, storage menu and it wont mount. Also tried mounting in CWM recovery, no dice.
Is this a hardware problem or something software related? Anyway to get my stuff back or is it gone? I thought about trying to format it through recovery but how can I do that if it wont mount? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm about to go through and install a "clean" copy of this ROM hopefully. Or I might try another ROM I know works like it should.
Installed a new Rom. Everything works perfect so far but still can't access my internal sd card. Any tricks how to get this back or do I need to just turn it in for warranty?

Warranty may be your best solution, you'll have to revert to stock using kies/odin which may on it's own fix your issue.
Are you also receiving the "Blank USB storage or has unsupported file system" error?
I have been battling this issue for a friend of mine (I own only the I9300) and I believe I have somewhat of a fix. It will allow you to use an external SD card.
If you can use / access the external SD card on your phone then disregard this message.
If you can't access any of the storage, including the external SD card try following this short tutorial I made:

Im still able to use my external sd card. I can read and write to it from both phone and pc.

The internal SD card is essentially part of the motherboard. If it's corrupted, you have no choice but to warranty the phone out. Kishke's right in that restoring to stock might be your last, best chance.

Recently, I reset my phone just to get it sped up and installed the apps I only ever use. But after that, the option to "Move to SD card" is missing under my app manager. It was there before the reset, I could move whatever I want. Now I'm running low on internal storage and I need to move things to my SD. The button isn't greyed out, it's completely gone...!
No, I don't want it rooted. It shouldn't have to be. I even installed App2SD, it shows me all the apps I can move, but when I click them, the button is missing.
