The Motorola Milestone Android 2.1 update has apparently been released in Europe and it includes some new Motorola custom apps: a replacement camera app; a new Motorola-specific Facebook app, and a custom CarHome app.
I haven't found anywhere much info about or screen shots of these yet as it looks like the update was just pushed yesterday.
Has anyone seen these apps floating around out there in an APK form for us to install on our Nexuses?
I've got a Milestone that has been at 2.1 for a couple of weeks now (love leaks).
I'll pull the APK's from the rom and post them, if you are interested. It would not shock me if they have run problems out of the box.
I'd like these as well if you don't mind.
I'd be interested in the email app with the new exchange security features.
I looked on android git and it doesn't seem like anything new has been committed to the email app in the last 7 weeks though.
Bump, anyone?
Just plugged in my 'stone - what apks do you want?
EDIT: I'm pulling /system/app and posting the zip to Filedropper as we speak. I'll post the link in a few seconds.
I've tried a few of them. The Facebook app doesn't seem like a massive improvement. The Moto Car Home app is less fancy but probably easier to use hile driving than the N1 - it is a rectangle with 6 big buttons. Milestone has the N1 and the Droid absolutely killed with the photo editor app. The camera and video app is OK - the effects mode is very nice, though I don't use that, but can't touch the Desire cam for speed and function. The corporate email and calendar apps apparantly still work pretty well with exchange (they already did with 2.0 and 2.0.1). The audio equalizer is very nice - I wish that the N1 had that (it hasn't changed from 2.0.1, that I can tell).
Here is the link to all of the apps. All are de-odexed.

Thanks for posting this. Camera app FC on me . I really like the way milestone camera works and hoping that I can use it on my N1. Moto phone portal works pretty well with N1.
How did you get MotoCamera to work on your N1?

Which one is the new FB app? If it's the Facebook.apk then it's the same one that comes on our nexus'......
Has anyone tried to install the photo editor app he mentioned? If it'll install through a file manager on a stock N1, then I'm wondering how it compares to Adobe's app.
Would like to know about that too^^^
The moto phone portal app is really cool too! works perfectly
Do u have too be rooted to install the phone portal and what does it do?
it lets you back up contacts, photos, sms.
And it lets you send/recieve sms from your phone using wifi, it's all done through a web page, really neat!
and idk if you have to be rooted or not :/
You are all welcome.

The photo editor is pretty close to Photoshop Mobile for Android, except it is linked to the Gallery, so opening a photo anywhere that uses the Gallery offers the edit options in the menu.
Therein lies the rub: at least on the Milestone, you have to use the 'stone's gallery to use the 'stone's editor. I have both the Milestone gallery and the Nexus gallery on my Milestone for exactly this reason.
When I get a chance, I'll try the Gallery and Photo Editor on my N1 to see if it works.
What about the Email app? Has anyone tried it yet?
Does it have any improvements compared to the stock app?
must my phone rooted for this apps??

Why dont you just try it?
If it doesnt work then you'll probably need it rooted
Is it still there or is there a problem after my debrand? also cant find tubemate that used to be there
Not with direct search, but have noticed a few similar programs whilst browsing the Market.
hmm had it before no probs never backed it up lol
I just had little search my self and managed to find this one
---->YouTube: TubeMate
also this one does the same
---->BestTube -YouTube
but i prefer the tubemate one looks better and feels better easy to navi as well.
I think it's hidden... When I look at the (OLD) version on apkTOR and click the 'show on market' button, market shows it, but when I just do a straight search (to find the new version) nothing comes up at all.
Thanks, I'll check out the others mentioned, since when I rooted I lost the old version of Xscope that would D/L videos!
Thanks for the suggestions gubemate is good

Hey guys
I'm on Android 4.0 since some days and I really like the new possibilites for widget: to be scroll- and resizable. As I couldn't find any RSS widget which uses these features, I decided to code it myself.
And now I proudly present my newest app: Simple RSS Widget.
The app is currently in beta status and might contain some bugs, so please don't be too hard with the market reviews
The app is free & without ads or scary permissions. As it makes use of the new widget features from Honeycomb & ICS, you need at least Android 3.0 to use this widget!
Download:
Android Market
AndroidPIT
Looks great, however I can't install, the Market tells me my Nexus One is not compatible - need to wait for ICS. ;-)
new beta for blackbearblanc, changelog:
multiple rss feeds should be possible now
option to use Roboto light on title/text on Android 4.1
should now also support atom feeds

There is an app called greader which pulls all my rss feeds from Google Reader. Maybe you can check to see how it does that.

does that happen on a specific feed? if so, can you PM me the url?
I tried to use this widget to show the feed http://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/.rss but I found the story text is not formatted and placed all on one line. In addition the texts are littered with """.
I don't mind it being all on one line so much, but properly displaying the " would be nice.
Sometimes when unlocking phone, the widget is empty. A refresh is needed
I don't know if this thread is still active, but needed somewhere to ask, How can I delete the default feeds, from "Simple RSS" and add manual feeds, no matter what I do it keeps on reverting back to the default Feeds. please direct me to right direction to fix.
Thank you

Sure, this app allowed you to download songs for free... but it was still a cool interface & a nice quick way to load up a track(especially old hard-to-find ones). I just had the .apk installed last night but loaded a new rom today & then saw it was gone.
Sadly, this was an .apk I didnt keep a backup of on my pc otherwise i'd try installing it again now. Anyone else used it?
Was it the official Last.fm app? If that's the case, I'm still seeing it. Humm.
Market Link.
I followed your link to the market and it seems working fine for me but there are many disappointing comments about its use in my country (Greece) even if you are a premium user... The link is active though

Indeed... I can also view the market link so we can safely assume that the app itself, wasn't actually removed. Also, Greek users are very disappointed by it because one cannot listen to music from his phone even if he/she is a premium user, as dimnik83 stated... which is in fact strange. English, German and American users, seem to be enjoying the use of this app to its fullest but us Greeks... well that's a different story... sadly. That aside, Last.fm is still up and running on the market.

im not talking about the official app. it was another app that was entitled Last.FM Free.
if you do a google search for " last.fm free " it shows up on the search results(7th link), but when you click it it's gone.
even whozzaat free message to india apps is deleted from the market..
how do we get them ?..
Same case ... searching for "Last.FM Free Version 3.1.1" NOT the official Last.FM Apk.
Could someone upload the file here?
It is removed from the Android Market. That would be great ! Thanks in advance.
Sorry for double posting ... but ;-)

Here's a link to the latest 3.1.1 if you want it:

Sounds like the official version will be discontinued soon as well:
http://www.talkandroid.com/29634-last-fm-will-no-longer-allow-free-streaming-to-mobile-devices/
Apparently its not cost effective on Android but its fine on Xbox Live and Windows Phone 7. I find that kind of odd since Android has a lot higher user base than Windows Phone. But I bet Microsoft made a deal with them.

Please note the name has been changed from TechTalk to GeekBytes

v1.2
What's New:
Added XDA forum and XDA TV (youtube channel) - testing the waters.
See the above post to download the update.
What's New v1.3:
Android Authority - YouTube
AndroidPit - YouTube
Android Spin - YouTube
Android Central Podcast Audio and Video
Rootz Wiki - News & Forum
All feedback welcome!!
v1.3.1 - Quick change
Updated the refresh interval to 4 hours instead of 2. (This can be manually changed in Settings)
Question for anyone that is using that app, if you have used the Rootz Wiki Forum you notice it takes you to the webpage because they do not have the TapaTalk plugin. Do you like that it uses the in-app browser or would you rather it open your default browser and use that instead?? Would love to hear you thoughts!
Thanks!

So all you did was rename an awesome app like flowly and pawned it off as your own. Really lame dude. You weren't even original enough to change the icon you just rounded the corners

First off, if you were to keep up with that app you would know that guy abandoned it. Also he did not develop it at all. He used appyet just like I did, hence why I said "put together" I never said I developed that app ever. The icon is defiantly different, I am still looking for a new one but got this one for now due to the first one not displaying correctly for the notifications. I like Flowly a lot, but seeing that it would no longer be updated I decided to make one like it and keep it updated when appyet updated the code, and keep it current with all the new feeds. Also this is temporary while I work on my own that I actually developed, once that is done it will replace this one.
If flowly is abandoned and grilledbacon picked up where it was left off, I'm all for it. Good stuff, grilledbacon.
Thanks been looking for a replacement for blinkfeed now I can run nova prime again.
Thanks guys! Working on getting it on the Play Store should be soon now!
Thanks for carrying on the work of the flowly developer. Will there be ability to star articles? The ability to customize sources? Great work so far. Thanks again!

I would prefer that it open in my default browser dude. So that I can carry on reading articles in your app after the links have been opened in the browser. This way I can read on my browser later.
I really like the idea, good job. However, I'll wait till you put it on the Play Store to receive the updates immediately without having to visit this thread again and download the new APK. Another thing, can you please add Ardroid.com to the app (and yes, that's an "R", not an "N")? It is an Arabic news site.
Thank You, and keep up the good work!
I just looked in the Play Store and there's already a TechTalk... That might be a bit of a problem...
I'd actually like to be able to use both an in-app browser AND my default browser. BUT if I had to only have it one way, I definitely want to use my default browser. Also in regard to Flowly, which I still use religiously, thanks for picking up the ball after it's abandonment.

I have noticed that, too. But I think he can maybe change the name?
Just used the app for an hour. Ignore my earlier comments about needing an external browser. The current implementation is perfect.
However, I would still like the ability to delete some sources. Great work so far! Thanks Dev!
Awesome app, very nice to have all the news in one place, but the app icon is really plain. Maybe some material flare would be nice. I mean no offense by that. You did a great job getting it all into one app.

I'd assume so. But since I found this app because of a post in the XDA Portal I'd probably suggest changing the name before it becomes too widely known. Better to rename with 50 users than with 5000 users...
Nice to have all the news in one place...

You could at least give credit to the original developer of the app in the OP.
