Oops, ignore this picture mail crying thread. - General Questions and Answers

I flashed mightyrom and customized the crap out of it. REALLY don't want to hard reset or flash a new rom. For some dumb reason it's missing picture mail. Google says lots of people have this issue, but they eventually get it straightened out. Not me. I've tried all of these with no luck:
Arcsoft Sprint MMS 5.0.69.44.cab
Sprint ArcSoft Threaded MMS 5.2.12.45.cab
Flyers2114TweaksSprint_5_0_94_128c.cab
Arcsoft_MMS_5_2_6_45U.cab
PictureMail_0.2.2.3.CAB
WinPM.CAB
MMS Fix (M2.5) (General) (Valkyrie).cab
EDIT: fixed it finally, just had to clear out old stuff and get them installed in the right order with the right settings.
--------------
Attempted to wipe out all old cabs and reg entries and windows files, anything that said picturemail, anything that said arcsoft, anything that said mms. I say attempted because when I got up and running again, old messages were brought back that I was sure I must have fully erased.
If anyone else has this issue, try these cabs in this order:
1. Arcsoft_MMS_5_2_6_45U.cab (after this, picture messages still grayed out)
2. Arcsoft Sprint MMS 5.0.69.44.cab (familiar picture message UI, picture options became available, along with server settings. Changed sending method from "internet" to "sprint". Still didn't receive test pix to myself)
3. Now soft reset even though it didn't ask.
After the reset, my pix came through, along with older tests from previous failed attempts.

MMS Image Size Issue

Hi everyone,
Got an MMS issue that I can't figure out.
I'm currently running my 8125 with a Summiter ROM. I did not do any of the extended ROM cab installs, choosing instead to configure everything by hand.
I did end up finally installing one CAB from the extended ROM to assist with getting the MMS to work. After using Cingulars website to help set it up, it works. I can send and receive MMS messages.
Here's the problem. I can receive the images just fine. The problem is, they're ridiculously small. Maybe somewhere around 4 KB in size, even though I have every setting I could find to keep the image as original as possible.
Now, I've sent an MMS to myself, with the same results. So it tells me it's either Cingular or the phone. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas? Anyone with Cingular not having this issue?
Thanks!
I want to bring this back up as I'm still having the same problem.
Here's a bit more. I sent an MMS message to my email address, and got the full image. However, if I sent it to myself, I get the real small image.
Can anyone either running a stock ROM or one with all the Cingular customizations (and is on the Cingular network) test and see if they're having the same problems?
Thanks!
Got the issue resolved from the looks of it.. Turns out there's a CAB file with a bunch of registry settings in it that did the trick.. I didn't install the CAB file, but rather used CabWUZ and extracted everything.. Did some of the reg edits, and it did the trick..

~No MMS account - Do I Need the MMS Cab?

I've been banging my head against a brick wall lately trying to get MMS to work on a UK Orange SPV M600, i keep checking the settings as described and it took me ages to work out what i was doing wrong
The instructions read...
Setting up the MMS profile
1. Tap on Start and then Messaging.
2. Tap on Accounts and select MMS.
3. Tap on Menu and select MMS Configuration...
...
i can do 1 and 3 but don't have an account called MMS, only SMS and Email
I think it is because i didn't run most of the extended ROM when I hard Reset and used the ROM:
RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID.zip
What can i do Now?
do i need to hard reset again?
i can't really face it all over again, can i just run the necessary .cabs
in which case, can someone let me have them?
I'm sorry if this is answered elsewhere, i've tried browsing round the site loads but the search seems to not be returning anything no matter what i search for
Thanks for lisatening
Bueller...Bueller....anyone! I have the exact same problem...I have done a search on the site but so far nothing solid. I have a Cingular 8125 device.
Thanks,
Ed
Get your original ROM, locate the EXT ROM, there ought to have a CAB named something .. like xxxxMMSxxxxx.CAB on it. Install it and it should work.

I've fixed the stuck-SMS bug somehow?

Well.. I seemed to have somehow solved my SMS bug accidentally. I was suffering from it from day 1 when I restored my 2000+ messages. I gave up on trying to tweak it, and decided to concentrate on moving my picture MMSes over from my Diamond.
(along the way I concluded none of the backup softwares can really work with picture MMSes.. but that's another story.)
I'll state upfront I don't really know what I did that fixed the problem, but I'm very sure the problem of SMS stuck in the outbox is fixed, I seem to get all my SMSes and only my msg threads with more than 300 msgs take a while (3s - 5s?) to load.
The interface loads EVERY single msg. Doesn't anyone at HTC use MSN?
Here's what I did when I gave up with the MMSes. Something along the way solved the problem. Or maybe I got lucky.
1) deleted the messages that were previously MMSes in both inbox and sent box.
Every single one.
Didn't study much, but I realised through testing, my restored MMSes were causing some problems. In traditional mode, I could not reply to a single restored MMS, but a single restored SMS was fine. In conversation mode, conversations with restored MMSes had a lag, while those with only SMS didn't. The sent/received fields also seem screwed up somehow.
Furthermore, none of the softwares I tried using to restore couldn't bring my picture MMSes back to life. (sentimental value, else I'll just save the images)
That's why I decided to just kill all of them for now. I used Jeyo Mobile to delete those "former-MMSes" from my HD2.
2) Exited Sense by removing it from Today
BTW, this was fresh from a Hard Reset, so there's nothing else in the system.
3) Using Jeyo Mobile, deleted the (previously unseen) folder Conversations from the sms inbox
Don't know why, I keep seeing it reappear. Seems to cause problems when it's not properly indexed. the UI seems to duplicate the latest msg from each contact into it, and that'll be the start of the threads.
3) Clear the deleted items folder using Jeyo
Including manually deleting the Conversations folder that was stuck in it.
4) Back up the SMSes
I had no email, nothing in draft as the UI doesn't index them properly. Only left stuff in Inbox and Sent. I used Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.1. Feel free to try others.
5) Hard Reset
6) Restore the SMSes
Here's where it's hazy again. I might have tried alot of combis, as the UI doesn't index the msgs properly for conversations all the time. Idea was to restore and let the UI index it properly. Here's the possible permutations:
a) I might have exited Sense.
b) I might have left the HTC msging interface in traditional
c) I might have left the HTC msging interface in conversation
Chances are, it's in conversation.
I restored the msgs using Jeyo. (it's stored in a XML file, so other text based backups may work too)
-------------------------------------
I only realised that the problem is fixed a few days later, as I realised that the next few days, I got my SMS reports instantly, and I never had a SMS stuck. My newly received and sent MMSes worked perfectly too.
I'm trying not to touch that msging part of my phone now that it is working perfectly....
Just found out that HD2 I bought (at the same time) for my GF is suffering the sent/huge lag issue though. Maybe I'll try to pin point a fix using her phone. She shld have less than 50 messages, though I did back up and restore some mmses for her previously.
However as I'm about to go on a 19day tour/holiday, so I thought I'll just share my experience and maybe some experts can figure out what's wrong.
Just for your info, I'm using 1.48.707.2 (71294) WWE.

Picture mail app - running mightyrom

Hey guys I have a Sprint HTC touch pro 2 and need an app to send picture mail. Does any have a good one?
You need Arcsoft, I am attaching my version of the one that is needed for Sprint and other carriers as well.
EDIT: WAIT a second, are you on a Stock ROM? If so, you already have the app built in!
sms/mms issue
No, I'm running Mighty Rom with manila 2.1. I went ahead and installed the cab file but, I still can't send pictures through sms/mms. Any ideas? I also had a friend forward me a picture and I'm able to receive it but can't view it. Please help?
Check with your carrier. I know TELUS won't allow us to send pictures via sms.
No, I was able before I installed Mighty Rom. So I should be able to.

Hey stickigure, that seem to fix my problem. After I installed the cab file I restarted and then I was able to view and send mms/sms messages.
Thanks.

Is there a way to bypass the size limit that you can send via sms i believe the limit is 500kb cause i tried to send a pic that was 571kb and i was unable to send help
I would like to know if it is possible to send larger images as well if anyone knows. Also, anyone know why mightyrom stops the sending of mms messages??
alright, sorry to hijack/revive.
I'm on mightyrom (latest, june 20 2010).
I've tried every thread I can dig up to fix the MMS. this one got me the closest.
I've even wiped the phone and reflashed the ROM 3 times! even tried different roms (mightyrom experimental ones, cookie, energy, etc).
I haven't gotten MMS working in any of them. I've installed, uninstalled cabs countless times.
so far, the arcsoft file posted earlier has gotten me the farthest, but still no fix. I receive the notice that it's trying to download an MMS, but it says "invalid argument" and forces me to retry. then an endless loop of "invalid argument." can't send them either.
I'm on the brink of locking my SPL and going to the MR2 official rom.

Why would you go to stock? There are plenty of good roms out there, and Mighty isn't even the greatest, IMO. My rom works with arcsoft preinstalled perfectly on sprint. Mighty belongs to the Telus network, so he can't even test for Sprint devices.

Anyone had this weird MMS problem since Official Froyo?

I never once saw this problem the first 3 weeks I had my phone, but ever since I installed the Froyo upgrade I have had issues whereby some MMS messages do not automatically download. They show up in the list and have a download button on them. Sometimes when you push the download button they download, and other times they don't. It's an aggravating problem.
I've received only one MMS with a pic since I've downloaded the AT&T Froyo upgrade. It worked, but I'll keep an eye out for the problem.
Have you tried to create an appointment in the calendar since the upgrade? I can edit existing appointments, but when I attempt to create a new one and save it, I get a message saying it's saved, but it's nowhere to be found.
Another member on another thread confirmed having the same issue...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966105&page=68
I've put several things into the calendar and it has saved them. I did do a factory reset though after installing Froyo. I started having a few weird issues and the reset cured most all of it except that my Market interface never has updated and this strange MMS issue. Also noticed that animated gifs that I receive in MMS messages play at a really slow framerate and they didn't with Eclair.
Thanks for the info.
