Only thing I'm not liking so far is there is no exit and clear cache/history like on DolphinHD.

Anybody else tried it yet?
Thought? Gripes?

After a bit of searching too sync you need this add-on: http://download.cnet.com/8301-2007_4-20007087-12.html?tag=mncol;txt

I also noticed bookmarks isnt supporting folders inside folders....

i tried it for 5mins before uninstalling
seemed too slow on my N1

actually, the sync functionality is built into this alpha release.
If you can find the settings, scroll too very bottom for sync log in.
The only thing I can't find is how to clear the cache, temp files, history.
Beta will be functional and once its it of beta this will be awesome.
I don't think they expected us to make this our only browser yet.
Most likely to get us to their website.
They got me there and I was impressed with where this is going.

Slow and HUGE. 33 MB? No thanks.

Eeeesh. I'm excited, but this is just too huge to work with. I can't even fit it in.
anyone, feel free to chime in with a "that's what she said."

Exactly.
Even with A2SD, this is still huge. Some of the intense games don't even break the 10mb barrier!

It's good to see Firefox on Android, however it's still in Alpha stage and it shows.
Hope they make it better/optimize it in the future.

SkyFire Browser Beta... Fully loaded PC desktop Mobile Browser

Engadget did a small feature on this really wicked awesome looking browser. It has the Kaiser featuring this browser. You can find that article here:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/28/skyfire-browser-for-windows-mobile-is-game-changing-does-flash/2#comments
You can sign up for the private beta here: http://www.skyfire.com/sign-up I suggest yall don't wait to long signing up as who knows how long this will be open.
Oh and so you dont wonder I didnt have a beta code and I signed up. I got this email back from them, "Thank you for signing up for the Skyfire private beta program. We will notify you when the beta version of Skyfire mobile web browser is ready for a test drive. We look forward to your feature suggestions, troubleshooting tips and ideas. Even with the early beta release, you'll be browsing the web on your phone just like you do on your PC."
I hope we dont have to wait to long for the actual ability to download this broswer looks cool.
OH and FYI:
From their Privacy Policy:
"Once you have subscribed to and begin to use the Browser, we will collect information about your use of the Browser on your Device (“Browser Usage Information”). Browser Usage Information includes such information as which websites and programs you access or download on your Device, how long you visit such websites and use such programs, your activities (such as products purchased or advertisements viewed) on such websites, which specific areas of a website or webpage you use and for how long, websites you bookmark, search terms you use, referring/exit pages, browser and platform types, the geographic location in which your Device is being used and information you provide on third party websites. All of your Browser Usage Information is stored by Skyfire under an automatically generated, random identification number (“ID Number”) that will not be associated with or linked to your Personal Information. Please be aware, though, that your Browser Usage Information, when viewed in the aggregate, may reveal your identity even if it is not associated with or linked to your Personal Information."
In other words, when you use our browser, we track everything you do, and assign an "anonymous" ID number to that information. And oh, by the way, the "anonymous" ID number may be linked to your identity.
I got the message on my phone tonight to load the SkyFire beta and I did. It is indeed very quick and responsive. One the plus side, it gives the entire page formatted in the shape of the screen. When you tap something to expand it, however, it seems to expand around the spot you touched, so in some texts the borders go out of the screen. Opera mini seems to expand but also format things a bit at the same time. Zoom is limited to two steps, in and out. Overall, pretty good impressions so far, and it does not seem to interfere with any other programs.

this browser still has a ways to go, but it's a great 1st step.
it definitely has a ways to go. feels slow & unresponsive to me. plus it's server side rendering through a proxy and i don't want them to know if i'm looking at bigbootybutts.com or tracking my experience to target ads at me. I'll wait for the new opera.
wow. and it can play YouTube videos all by itself. not that I care, but I am amazed.
its a pretty nifty little browser
Hm anything about the "autorization problem"?

Is it a webkit based browser?
Wasn't the pc version mostly a shell on top of IE?

I'd like to see the desktop UA as well. I'm having issues using the YouTube mobile site. When I click on a video, it does not launch or ask me how I want to play the video. The full website works flawlessly. Overall, a very nice browser.

Remote view is upside down for me on Dell Streak with StreakDroid. Other than that, it's golden.
yes... on some device frame buffer is rotated of 180 degree... but i've already provided the fix for this on my dev version... i think i will release the update in this week!
Thanks for you reporting!
How do you use this? I've tried connecting to the ip address shown when i run the app.
Is IE needed for remote view to work?
It's all skewed on Firefox 4

I dont think so. I tried everything on Chrome and it works fine. Did you change the setting from 16-bit to 32-bit? If not, do it
Ie9 and FireFox 4 they doesn't work... they have some issues with css but i hope to fix it very soon... i have an update ready far this week
I read on the comments that someone lose connection when the screen locks. This is a setting of the phone in Wi-fi settings. You have to disable from advanced settings. I'm preparing a faq for this .
Thanks to all for your comments.
The double sms on some phones is going to be fixed (already fixed... just wait the update )
Thanks to all for your feedback.
I've already prepared other web app like a web terminal (yeah... entirely written with a my native library... first experiment ) and a file manager that are ready, but before release i wanna just fix some bug , and make the damned camera working -.-'.
If you think other web app can be useful simply tell me ... i will see what i can do...
I'm still working to make the interface compatible with IE9 and Firefox 4... just give me some time...
Update just released!!!
- Double sms sent (rarely) fixed
- Remote View can be rotated now (some phone need this)
- Call a contact with country code prefix will now work
- Still Speed enhancement
- Another Camera fix (i'm doing some test, but i need your feedback, i've no more 3 phone for testing)
- Added Faq
- Minor Bugfixes (as always
Thanks for all your feedback, they are very useful for me.
I've other web apps ready, but first i want to fix all bugs i can find, so please help me

Awesome update. Works like a dream now. I have a feature request though. In remote view, it would be cool to open apps using your mouse. Like for example, you click on Market and the market app opens. And you can scroll through the market and install apps without even having to physically touch your phone. I dont know if it's possible but it sure would be cool
I've already done this... but i've removed because it was too slow... uhm... maybe i can do something with silverlight or java... maybe a java applet...
I forgot to say that both camera and remote view can be used with a driver as a normal Windows Image Acquisition Device... so you can use skype or what you want... you need a driver that you can get here http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/226163-6E45/IPCameraDS.exe, and this is the homepage http://www.webcamxp.com/home.aspx It's free for personal use.
For Camera you have to set http://<YOUR_IP_ADDRESS>:<YOUR_PORT>/Services/Camera/GetStream
For Remote View you have to set http://<YOUR_IP_ADDRESS>:<YOUR_PORT>/Services/RemoteControl/GetStream
To use this feature you have to disable authentication...
I've relased another update after a day full of work!
- Remote view improvements. Automatic recognition of settings. Now works on all phones.
- Web interface now works with Internet Explorer 9, but is slower and does not support Mjpeg stream (IE doesn't support). Use Chrome if you want full functionally.
- Sms dynamic loading fixed
Contact me for everything!
Can you add a computer notification (ie pop up, sound etc) for the usb connection when you recieve a text or notifications on your phone? Also, answer calls on your phone? Haha just some thoughts.
Hope you make the SMS more streamline. Ajax updates ... display photo ... etc.
Anyway you have intentions to add a File Explorer so we can transfer files into our phone from your web interface?
I'm just working on the File Manager...
Can you explain better what you are saying about sms?

Web Browser Invert Colors Bookmarklet

I was looking for a solution to invert browser colors on my Epic4G. I look forward to a day when Cyanogenmod runs on the epic so I can use the modded browser with "invert colors". Dolphin HD's "Reader" addon was close, but it added padding to the browser on my Epic.
So... i decided maybe a javascript bookmarklet could do what i wanted. turns out, it did.
This has only been tested in the Android 2.3.4 stock browser. To use it, copy the code from the page linked to below into the clipboard and add a new bookmark, pasting the code into the URL box. Give it a name like "Invert Color". Then when you're viewing a page you want to invert, open the bookmarks menu, and click the bookmark.
http://tonymuka.com/js/
You still have to click the link for every page you browse to for now, but perhaps somebody knows a better way. I did try to contact Dolphin for info on writing Addons, but it doesn't seem very open. I haven't used firefox mobile too much yet, but maybe there is potential there...
I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, and since it might work on any device with a browser that supports bookmarklets, i put it in general. mods should feel free to move it with my thanks!
Enjoy!

It should work in any modern HTML compliant browser that supports javascript in bookmarks. You'll probably have to copy and paste the javascript into the bookmark and give it a try. Please let us know if it does I tried this weekend in Dolphin HD on Android, and in Mobile Safari on Apple's iPad2 and it works there too.

Glad to hear it works in mango!
Unfortunately i don't know a way to make it permanent, i think the browser would have to allow such plugins to run automatically every time a page loads. (like a greasemonkey script, etc)
If you send a link to a page that wont invert I'll check it out and see if i can fix it. If it has a background image or flash there's not much i can do without removing background images altogether...

Tony, thanks for this. It inspired me to think about a more permanent solution using a web filtering proxy. I have proof that it would work, but I don't have the skills to develop this further. Would be great if you could take a look at this and see if you have any thoughts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17960461
Browsers that support web storage could probably do it.
Also the one browser I know wont have a problem making it permanent would be Opera Mobile, because it supports user javascript and css like the desktop browser does.
claimui, great idea, i'll check it out!
yareally, i'm an old opera fan, but haven't fallen in love with the mobile version despite several attempts... gotta love the user js and css though- didn't know you could use them on mobile too!

Yeah, it's not quite as friendly to do as the desktop browser, but you can set the userjs/usercss locations and such in opera.ini and mod whatever you like.
I semi wrote an informal tutorial on it in a thread for opera mobile in the forum area http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=9373312

Pardon me, but this is rediculous! How do you justify accessing your private site for a "bookmarklet" over 90 kb in size running and incorporating parts of several versions of jQuery??
I put it to you that this is spyware! Swapping foreground and background colors is a oneliner in any version of this bookmarklet, doesn't need any external sites, runs much faster and doesn't have privacy issues like this garbage!

Hi Tony M
Just to repeat it here:
Put the javascript in a gesture activated bookmark in dolphin hd for ease of use.
I also found this gem on css sheets with opera mobile.
androidforums dot com/samsung-captivate/195082-high-contrast-browsing.html
I used to have an app that let you pass pages between browsers with intents. Lost it and can't remember the name!
Found it. It is called choose browser.

How about upload manager? That's what android really needs. You currently have to use opera to file browse and upload. This worked fine on winmo, I still Dont understand how its not considered a basic feature in android.
Thanks for sharing.

So I tried it...
and got some issues...
that browser is good looking and it works fast.
But:
I can't see the multiple language support.
If you want to make it "world wide" you should allow users from outside the U.S. delete/edit Speed dial items to chose from. Let's say (for example) "Mercado Libre" is not as interesting as you might think.
Concerning all of your browsers: the "help buttons" are a joke, can't get any real information here.
Why don't you offer ad free versions of UC Browser and UC Browser mini? I would pay to use them.
You should give a clear statement which user data is collected/forwarded to your servers.
Regards!

Hello, random hero. Thanks for your review.:good:
First I am sorry that I made a mistake because the beta version is only for English, the current version on Google Play and the release version for 9.0 support 7 languages. For the Speed Dial, you can long press on it to remove, and an edit option is put into consideration. Also the websites for Speed Dial recommendation are not very carefully chosen because it's the beta test, it is certain that the official release will make it right.
The content in "Help" may not provide really helpful info for users, as you mentioned, I have reported this to my colleague to make it with more guidance.
For the ad-free version, we will consider it seriously. For the moment, we are not pushing many ads to the browser and it's for sure that user experience is our priority. Thanks again for your feedback.:fingers-crossed:
Hello finally someone to listen for uc browser
Okay
This was the best browser on symbian and having used it for a long time I am way disappointed by the Android version
I have used both the normal and hd version
And here it goes
1) )u guys have an awesome in browser down loader I use this browser for precisely this purpose
One thing that can be added to the downloader is the option of changing links for an active download which stops like we do in loaderdroid download manager
2) the server compression program doesn't work as good as expected for countries like India
3) it displays annoying messages which should be hidden
Like page zoom saved there's no need to display that
4) the pinch to zoom is laggy as compared to any other browser
Talking about the normal version not the tablet one
Yes I mean it as compared to any other browsers and I am on s3 so it cannot be a hardware issue
Pinch to zoom needs to be way more smooth
5) the tablet version does not have any advanced option that used to exist in the symbjan version
So please change this also.....
6) the ui of the normal version is in general laggy
U need to let go of some of the transition effects and stick to faster animations
Rest I believe this browser has the potential to be the best android browser ever even better than chrome if u guys work on it
Right now my choice is naked browser
Feature requests
1) 1click copy paste and go like naked browser and copy all like naked browser
2) link changes for paused downloads like loader DROID download manager
3) porting features from s60v3 versions

How about upload manager? That's what android really needs. You currently have to use opera to file browse and upload. This worked fine on winmo, I still Dont understand how its not considered a basic feature in android.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for you feedback.
About the "upload" function, do you mean something like "Skydrive" on winmo?
To browser files on your device, you can use file manager in UC Browser (Setting-General-Downloads-File Manager), and the official release of UC Browser 9.0 will have UDisk(a free online storage function) so that you can upload and keep your files on the "cloud":fingers-crossed:
Yup and I almost forgot to applaud u guys for the browser stability this is a very stable browser and the download process is far more stable than any other browser be it default or third party this means no page reloads due to lack of ram etc
In terms of stability this is the best browser ever
But ui is laggy in the normal version so not using presently
Tablet version is so fat good will report after trying
Also what happened to the forum mode u guys had on the symbian version single most used feature by me
Reimplement it here
There was another feature which was pre loading pages wherever the word next etc appears and displaying them as continuous pages in the same page
Came in handy when reading or viewing vuclip
Reimplement it on Android
These are the unique features to ur browser u gotta bring it to the table
