[Q] Is there any way to configure Android to recognize swf files? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello, I have a Motorola Droid running Froyo Cyanogen 6 RC3, and I was wondering how you could open swf files with flash player installed. I did some googling, and found that you just have to input file://sdcard/whateverfileyouwanttoopen.swf into the browser. Now, I want to know if it's possible to add swf to the list of file types and have it configured so that if for example I go into Astro and open an swf, it will automatically direct my browser to the swf file.
Does anyone know how I would go about doing this?

.mp3 does'net play

Hey guys. I've got the following problem:
If i try to open some .mp3 files the WMP says:
"Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the player does not support the format you are trying to play." but they aren't neither corrupt nor not supported: They work fin on my PC and it's no problem for WMP to play other .mp3 files. The MortPlayer can play the files without any problems.
I tried this: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;889762&x=10&y=13
But the files aren't even show in my libary.
Could anyone plz help me? I want to use S2P
I'm using the newst Onyx-Rom Wm 6.5.

Files downloaded in .bin format

When I attempt to download an .mp3, . PDF, .doc (pretty any file) in chrome browser or Android Browser they download in .bin format. The weird thing those is they will still open in the correct program (PDF opens in reader, mp3 opens in music app, etc).
Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

Yes I am having the same thing, but im running a transformer pad tf300t. I find sometimes it works by long pressing and saying save link as, but other times not. Any help would be appreciated
What are the sizes of the files you've downloaded? If they are the actual files, just with a wrong extension, you could always rename the extension in a file browser and check. As far as the reason, ..not much help there.

try downloading it with Chrome browser,
I had the same problem downloading .nzb files with the stock browser, with chrome it was ok
All you have to do is rename it from bin to whatever it is you downloaded. Example, downloaded an mp3 but the file is in .bin, just rename it to (song name).mp3
When I attempt to download an PDF or doc file from any facebook page they are being download in .bin format. The weird thing is that if i try to rename the file name to pdf or doc while downloading it is not helping at all. Any kind of help is appreciated
I have this issue in miui 12 in chrome...not sure what's wrong

Play html and swf file

Asus Transformer tf300tg
Android 4.0.3 ICS.
I can not play html and swf files. I'm following video tutorials in the above mentioned extensions,
about html:
open as exp "example.html" stored on my SD Card
try to open by the default File Manager or ES File Explorer, i got error message, i need flash player and enable java. Flash player 11 is correctly installed, java enabled on my browser. How can i try to open "example.html" by default browser or crome? Open file from file manager, it prompts me with 2 options: the html reader that comes with ES File Explorer or Html Reader, an app that i installed from google play but, as i said before, i get error message that ask for flash and java, what i have to write on google bar to point the browser
to open "example.html" for example "sdcard/example.html " can you tell me the correct path and how to solve the matter?
about swf file,
I bought SWF Player from google play but still not able to read swf.
As exp "example.swf" stored in my SD Card
Open by file manager, it promp me with several options, open with: My Gallery (app installed by default for video and pictures) MX Player, both solutions give me error message: "failed to open file" when i try to open "example.swf" by fle manager i dont get SWF Player in the options only My Gallery and MX Player.
Try to lunch SWF Player it dont see the sd card even if it is properly installed and works fine.
Can you help me please?
Thank a lot!
That's how I got "Playing SWF Files" working on a 4.0.4 MID
Installed
1) Smart SWF Player - by SIMPLELIFE (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=smartswf+player)
2) Adobe FlashPlayer Plugin 11.1.11.1.115.17 (com.adobe.flashplayer-111115017.apk, don't remember where I downloaded it from)
HTH
Like what jwoegerbauer said,
But do install the adobe flash player first before you install the apps
Otherwise it wont work. When opening the swf file, u still see white screen first as its loading the file (at least this is what i experiencing)
then the rest is enjoy time
Use SWF player
Use Swf player from issess. If it doesn't work check whether Adobe Flash Player is installed. If it can't open SD card , change the default directory option in settings to the path of your SD card(or to any other valid location).
It is good for playing games as it features a customizable keyboard for game controls.
It works in many devices where Smart SWF failed. Another alternative is Flash Game Player. But, it is outdated and no longer available in play store( i suspect it is still in the market with as a renamed and improved version). If you wish you could download it from it's XDA thread.

Please help me converting swf to apk

Hi everyone,
I already searched the web for tutos, tried different online converters and tried it with FlashDevelop - not getting anywhere. Can you tell me, how a swf file can be turned into a apk file?
Please answer me.
I don't think you can convert directly an SWF file into an APK. An SWF file is the output format used by Adobe Flash and APK is the package format for an Android app. Your best chance is, if you have the source code, to use Adobe Air to export it as an Android App (i am not sure if this is still supported, you used to be able to do it).
Hi ncdude,
thank you for your answer. I can get code from this swf file using JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler. But I don't know if that represents the source code. I tried to paste that code in various android apps who promise to build an apk file. That also didn't work.
Could someone help me if I upload the extracted code or the the swf file?
