opening swf file in browser

is there a way i can set the browser as the default app required when opening certain types of files such as shockwave (swf)? i have some shockwave files that id like to view .on my evo without requiring me to go out to the internet and download the file manually everytime.
right now i have the files on my sdcard. when i try to open them, i get prompted to choose what type of file it is and then what to use to open the file.
i can view these files with my browser over the internet using flash lite.
i suppose i could run an http server on the phone itself, but there arent any good choices on the market. too bad i cant install apache.
thanks.

[Q] cab files open as an internet browser!!

Hi,
I use HTC HD mini, windows mobile 6.5 professional
Every time i try to install a cab file, it opens as an internet browser with codes in it, at first i thought that's the cab file is corrupted but i tried with so many others, they all appear as an internet browser, i tried to install sdkcerts.cab but it also appears as a browser, i couldn't install any cab files either by copying and pasting it in the device or by using CAB via ActiveSync1.5
any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
no one can help me!!

Click to collapse
Yes, its happened on past phones also..... Find a different file.
Try astro file manager and under its settings select allow unknown browser downloads or something similar.
Yeah, that happened to me too... you have to use a different web browser other than the default one

[Q] multi-part rar on nas?

Is it possible to get ES file explorer to extract multi part RARs on a NAS? It says "no application available" but works when all the files are on the sdcard.
Or is there an alternative file explorer with built in RAR support that does work over LAN?
ive also noticed ES doesnt like unzip/raring from a remote location ...Its probs due to the device having to process the extraction and over WIFI would be very very slow on large file...it has to pull the rar file over wifi, extract it and place the extracted file back (or wherever youve chosen to extract it)
If i need to extract things like that, i remote to my media PC and extract with that (using remotevnc pro) ... i dont know if you have that option ? but its probs prefered
yeah that's how I do it too, with Pocket Cloud. it pretty annoying. maybe I just need to look into a better VNC client

Files downloaded in .bin format

When I attempt to download an .mp3, . PDF, .doc (pretty any file) in chrome browser or Android Browser they download in .bin format. The weird thing those is they will still open in the correct program (PDF opens in reader, mp3 opens in music app, etc).
Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

Yes I am having the same thing, but im running a transformer pad tf300t. I find sometimes it works by long pressing and saying save link as, but other times not. Any help would be appreciated
What are the sizes of the files you've downloaded? If they are the actual files, just with a wrong extension, you could always rename the extension in a file browser and check. As far as the reason, ..not much help there.

try downloading it with Chrome browser,
I had the same problem downloading .nzb files with the stock browser, with chrome it was ok
All you have to do is rename it from bin to whatever it is you downloaded. Example, downloaded an mp3 but the file is in .bin, just rename it to (song name).mp3
When I attempt to download an PDF or doc file from any facebook page they are being download in .bin format. The weird thing is that if i try to rename the file name to pdf or doc while downloading it is not helping at all. Any kind of help is appreciated
I have this issue in miui 12 in chrome...not sure what's wrong
