Is this an issue with my new ROM or are the Google servers down preventing me from associating an account with my phone (so I can get to the Market)???
Edit- Did a factory reset (right after flashing the new stuff... Why the hell would I need to do that???) and now it works.

ok i have a viewsonic G-tablet rooted and has a custom rom. yesterday i decided to play with the other roms to see what i like best. at this point everything was working fine (market, gmail, etc). i reset the tablet to get to recovery and backup my rom. this is were everything goes wrong, recovery wass gone just gone. i tried reinstalling and still got nothing, found out the bootloader somehow got erased (but yet would still boot android, dont know how the [email protected] that works) so i boot up my linux machine and load on Vzflash and restored it to stock tnt, rerooted and installed VEGAn. i went to the accounts and sync settings to add my google account and after putting in my info it hangs for 3 minutes then says that i do not have a reliable data connection (but i do i was just using the browser and rom manager) i tried resetting the gapps, reinstall them, reflash the rom, wipe system data, wipe cache, wipe delvik, (iv done so much wiping the store is out of paper lol). i have also tried logging in with just the youtube app and while it did when i tried to use market i got the same error from when i tried to log in with the sync menu. i have also tried logging in the initial setup screen with no luck. i have been searching the internet for 2 days and have tried everything. WTF DO I DO!?!?!?!
did my device get banned from google or something. i have never done anything illegal with my android devices and all ways pay for my apps. i only root so i can get access to my cpu and with the gtab to get to the market.
this happened to me before with my G1 and fixed itself in a day but htis seems different.
i also edited my google account from my computer to allow multiple sign-ins.
i aslo F reset my phone to see if its just google or my account and it signed in just fine the first time.
has anyone else experienced this? BTW im in rochester ny

Sorry for posting about it but like I said I have been searching for 2 days, mostly on xda with no luck or even an answer like in the first link. If that fixes it ill take down the thread.

thank you the first link worked right away
I can log into my google account, but the only device associated with the account is my droid. How do I add my Gtab to the account as well?
For example if I want to download the Tegra 2 app from the Nvidia website, you log in with google accounts. Then it asks which device I want to download it to. Right now it only shows my droid as an option.
Ok, i got a this Galaxy S 4G from my friend of mine, But his googloe account is in the fone. And when i delete all the conacts they always come bacc. That will work fine, you can also go into settings and go into "Accounts & Sync" in there you will see his gmail account. Click on that and remove the account. Setup your account to sync and you should be fine.
If I was you I would just factory reset or Odin... That is just me though. I like starting fresh
Ok, so im having some difficulties doing a factory reset so i can clean out the previous owners data and account. so i tried adding my own google account but for some reason everytime i try entering the market it asks for the original account for which i dont know the password and it doesnt give me a choice to switch over to the second account i entered. how can i stop that and use the account i entered??
Also if there is anybody that can help me with doing a complete factory reset that would be my main goal. i tried settings>privacy>factory reset but it just freezes the phone with a multi colored screen (like a broken tv). people have suggested gtg_ultimate_unbrick but all i get is the black samsung screen and it stays like that .....
Note: This Infuse is a Rogers phone (if it makes a difference).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Rainbow screen. Sounds like your on a leaked rom with no CWM. Try to flash a kernel with the SGS kernel flasher. Im on my phone so i cant link you but go to development and search for jordans stock rom. He has a list of which kernels can give you CWM once you get CWM flash a rom and then factory reset. Should work. I hope. Good luck

So my fathers phone was wiped in service. And now it wants to log in with account that was used before. The problem is that... He forgot email, password and basicaly everything that can help recover the account.
I did everything i can but this phone still wants this old account. I wiped everything (factory reset), installed new rom. But it still wants the Old account.
Do you know any way to fix this?
I can't post image because i am too new here. But it's written:
The device was reset. To continue sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on this device.

What device? That seems odd. I've always had the alternative option to sign up. It doesn't have any prompts to create a new account?
An image would help, too bad you can't post it yet. :/
It may be helpful though if we know what device it is.
It's Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime.
There are no options to create new account. There is an option to help with forgoten password. But he is not even sure what was the email.
Belive me, i even asked my IT friends and there is no options that can help.

yep, this new security feature was introduced by google on 5.1 and above. every time you factory reset you must enter the primary google account info or the device is useless.
there is only 1 possible way around it. you have to downgrade your device to a firmware less than 5.1 where that security is not on it. there is no other way. if you are unable to downgrade and there is no possibility you may remember the needed info, you will have to get a new phone.
in the future, delete off all your google accounts before sending it in for service or doing a factory reset, then the security will be disabled until you put the accounts back on.
i bought the CN version which arrived this week and i dont want to dabble with anything - it has a global version rom so ideally i want to sell this now as id prefer a pucker rom. if i factory reset this tablet what will happen will the global rom remain ? or will it go to something else ?
or is there an easy way to delete all my info like removing my google account perhaps ?
sorry ive not got a clue on these things
A Factory Reset - as its name implies - simlply resets the tablet to state as it was when it got shipped by manufacturer, means all user-data get removed, system apps if they in the meantime got updated get reset to their initial version.
Ok so I don't to do that just want to remove my Google play account and delete history and apps
No it's fine, there isn't an old ROM stored on your device. Factory Reset will only strip the OS back to stock. No risk of it "reverting" back to CN ROM
