Light Sensor Issues - Captivate General

The light sensor seems real strange. I've flashed JH3, I'm testing using Z-DeviceTest and indoors it shows 6 when I cover the sensor, it shows 1000 or 5000 indoors under flourecent lights, and outdoors shows 10000 / 15000
The application shows that the max is 120000 in steps of 1.
I even put a superbright LED flashlight up to the sensor and still only got 15000 on the sensor reading.
The testing was brought about by somewhat random screen brightness shifts when I'm at home and holding the phone steady using it under well lit conditions.

LED Intensity

So I've moved to the Thunderbolt from the Incredible and I noticed that the intensity of the LED bulbs are not even close to the ones on the Incredible. I tested the flashlight app and at the highest setting, my Incredible could almost light up a room. The highest setting on the Thunderbolt seems like the middle setting on the Incredible.
Not sure why they chose lower intesity bulbs given the limited usage that they get from them; it can't simply be a battery issue.
Well the Incredible also had an issue with washing out pictures when using the flash because it was too bright. Perhaps the T-Bolt is calibrated a little better?
Not to mention, when ever Cyanogen 7 is working on the T-Bolt, you would be able to use the flashlight app (torch) because it has an high intensity setting that maxes out the LEDs.

Moto G4 Plus - Heating issues ? (A Review)

Last weekend I upgraded from my old smartphone to the new Moto G4 Plus, and after reading much about the heating and camera issues, I thought of putting it under a test.
I used CPU-Z for testing temperature and some common sense. Last night I installed the three high end games on my phone ie. Asphalt 8, Mortal Combat X and Nova 3
1. Asphalt 8
Play Time: 1 Hour 10 Minutes
Gameplay: No Lags, No Frame Drops, Ran Smooth
Temperature (Front): Varied between 39 - 41 Degrees
Temperature (Back): Varied between 42 - 45 Degrees
Hotness/Warmness Index (Out of 10) - 3/10
2. NOVA 3
Play Time: 20 Minutes
Gameplay: No Lags, No Frame Drops, Ran Smooth
Temperature (Front): Varied between 39 - 41 Degrees
Temperature (Back): Varied between 42 - 44 Degrees
Hotness/Warmness Index (Out of 10) - 3/10
2. MORTAL COMBAT X
Play Time: 15 Minutes
Gameplay: No Lags, No Frame Drops, Ran Smooth, Took 2 Minutes for Initial Loading
Temperature (Front): Varied between 40 - 42 Degrees
Temperature (Back): Varied between 42 - 45 Degrees
Hotness/Warmness Index (Out of 10) - 4/10
With all these games I have noticed one thing, the temperature varied between a certain range ie. 42 - 45 degrees, after which it stayed constant, as if it reached a certain threshold, but it was not hot as the users on various forums are claiming, it was mildly warm near the power and volume buttons. The game-play was awesome without any glitches.
The main culprit is actually the Camera, or rather the Camera app. As soon as I fired the camera, the temperature started rising, and it went as high as 48 degrees while shooting a 1080p video for 2 mins, after which I have to close it down. And it really felt hot to hold. On my Hotness/Warmness Index, it would be 8/10. There was a steep rise in temperature and it didn't stopped, it continued to rise. The pro mode makes the matter worse.
On the other hand I installed third party camera apps ie. VSCO camera and Camera 360, they worked fantastic with zero heating and lagging issue.
The TurboCharger is also making the phone reach temperatures around 50 Degrees.
In case you wanna know, my phone has a manufacturing date of 05/2016 and the outside temperature according to the weather app was 27 Degrees. The phone gave a SOT of 4 Hours 40 Minutes of a single charge.
Exactly same in my case, plating same games and there are no lags no frame drops ,running smooth. I'm happy with this.
For Camera (Update the Camera , Camera tuner app If you din't already)..I'd like to give 1 solution which is not good but Moto told to do until it brings an update for Camera-heating issue---> Turn Off Stabilization, put mobile on AirPlane Mode, use 720p (I know this is not all good but it somehow useful) and Moto said they are working hard to get this issue solved..
For turbo charge ..we can't do anything because Qualcomm set the chip like to get turbo charge(it's normal in this case)

Motorola has released an OTA update fixing this issue. This gives a good forecast to when Motorola will update its devices, and the amount of updates each phone gets.

Enable max nits "sunlight" brightness?

I noticed with auto brightness off and max brightness enabled the screen still gets brighter in sunlight. Even when i turn outdoor mode on it is not as bright as when the sun hits the sensor. I want to know if there is a way to enable this maxed out brightness setting without it turning off everytime a shadow is cast over the sensor. A max "nits" toggle of some sort. Using high battery is not an issue when i need this mode is when im riding in a work truck so i have a charger. Thanks for any input.

Reduced screen brightness when getting hot?

Is the P40 Pro reducing the screen brightness when getting hot in direct sunlight?
My mate 30 Pro seems to do this. Really annoying as i dont have it on auto.
I'm asking because my Note10+ is doing that, my Oneplus 6 never did that and it really sucks for outdoor readability in sunlight...
hey, I know that when outside in the direct sun light auto brightness kicks in and dims it down as it'll help see the screen, other wise you may have the reflection of the sun and then the brightness from the screen, You can always turn it off in settings?
Actually that's not what I meant. On my Note10+ auto brightness kicks in a brightness boost in sunlight, so the display is pretty good to read, but after a while, the device heats up, caused by the sun and then it reaches a threshold and to reduce system temperature, the screen gets dimmed down to a level, where reading any text becomes very hard.

Screen Dimming in Sunlight

Friends there is some logic related to screen brightness and phone temperature. If the phone temperature is above 40°C, the creen in direct sunlight becomes dim even in full brightness and difficult to read. My iphone 11 screen remains bright in same conditions. The issue also existed for my earlied Note10+ handset. Does anybody face same issue in high temperature countries like India?
Not a good idea to view in direct sunlight for very long.
The phone dissipates heat through the screen... it can't when the screen is baking in the sun!
104 F is well within tolerance levels but is more stressful for the battery.
What you might not be seeing are other temp read outs from other temp sensors (there's about a dozen or more) on the phone which might be being pushed to their critical levels.
>When you see a phone doing this best practice is to turn off the screen and leave cool down. Phones that aren't optimized correctly can heat up rapidly even with no foreground apks running.
>If turning off the screen doesn't seem to be helping, power down the phone and allow to cool before using!
Wrapping a damp rag around backside of the phone can also be used to bring down the temp especially in dry climates
Same here but not really hot phone
Yes i got the same problem. But my phone is not very warm at all and it dimms by sunlight.. i think phone outside is max 40°c. I wonder why they do this, they put a display with 1600nits in and then it cant bring all because its too "warm" got this on none of other phones. Only samsung problems. And this **** cost 1200. I really dont understand what theyre doing

I tested this. My n20u warms so rapidly up even if i doing nothing or shut it down. And i was only for 3-5mins outside at sun. Outside temp was like 25-27°c.
My phone was not very hot not even really warm, but display dimmed very hard so i cant see anything outside.
