[Q] Joint effort for new rom - Palm Treo 750

Hi all
I spent quite some time in looking, testing and rejecting the roms that trail around here. So, may I suggest, we build our own / open to all ROM?
I never cooked a ROM, thus I am certainly no veisen, navenedrob or MietasSR and how all the good chefs are named. So, anyone to join?
greets mega

I could join for testing and small stuff, since there is not much ir can compile codewise.

what it would be better for you and everyone is to take the best rom made untill now and fix all the remaining bugs so finally like that the perfect rom will be created, maybe by the time u create the rom with bugs you will be forced to leave the investigation like everyone else leaving a bugy rom but work from the start with ready bugy rom fix it and voila, the perfect treo rom. if u need it i can post it here.

Hi, why do you think the others *had* to quit?
I firmly believe, these good guys left because of loss of interest. If they were forced to quit, say by M$, that would have happend right after first dropping rom's in here and certainly these downloads would have been blocked too.

i didnt meant they had to but most of the roms that were posted ad dissapeared i got mine beacuse an senior member posted it for me, currently the only two good ones are the one that says in tread name sys blablablablabla xsx blablablabla, and the spanish one.
but you know its true that its better to do what i posted.

I believe there is still a lot of treo 750 users out there, since it is a superb device. But the old Win OS is a true bummer, not finger friendly at all. And pulling out a stylus in a bus stop is just hideous. So I hope this thread stays alive....

Hi,
Building our own Rom, does deffinitely *not* exclude a valuable starting point such as already existing ROM, on the contrary.
here are the options we have (just the WM 6.5 ROMS):
- thread 642721
WM6.5.3 28205, from MietasSR; No kitchen that I know off; link to ROM alive, as of writing
- thread 541417
23017 R2" SYS/XIP ROM by navenedrob (Probably the one youe were referring to); the only one with a kitchen; link to ROM dead, but can be found elsewhere, as of writing
- thread 477370
21193/21193 by veisen; No kitchen that I know off; link to ROM alive, as of writing
None of these roms has language support other than english, all have bugs. I am new to rom development, I will only put effort into this, if I am not alone. Can we make a sourceforgeproject of this
Things that need get organised are:
- a bunch of developpers
- howto on making a kitchen
- decide what will be the starting point
- which languages are we going to target
- EN
- DE, first prio for me
- ....
- can we do them all?

I am willing to help/contribute even in development if the project gets some positive feedback and other contributers!

About the languages.. as I understand you can change the ROM's langpack, so a good starting point would be the new spanish rom floating around. Looks like it has a lot of bugfixes in it already... So the first thing to do would be contacting the baker and have him answer simple questions about kitchen and ROM. That way we could swap it to EN/GER and test it out.

The - only - kitchen I have is just the
CHEETAH-WM6.5-21828-ROMKitchen-navenedrob.zip
So you are workin with this as well, aren't you?
The main issues there (apart from probably fixable small bugs) are for me
- missing language support, I just see lang pack 0409
- missing info about how to use / chane this kitchen
Can any one help here?

talk to amgatron, he has a topic at the rom development section called (wm6.5)mangatrons new rom (release soon) , hes using a new kitchen and what navs and mietas had left behind, he already fixed the palm oem and red button issues, you could say hes building the perfect rom.

ROMs have been released Here. Try it out now and don't forget to leave feedback!

[REVISED] Autosculpt BETA 1.00 ROM Kitchen + Link Working!

UPDATE: I am posting a revised version of this kitchen because I noticed the version I uploaded had some nonworking buttons and I noticed lots of silly mistakes when I went back to the source code. I also have added a lot of exception handling. I also realized that by batch file doing the dumping had some errors.
Autosculpt 1.00 BETA REVISED
This is another ROM kitchen based off of bepe's PKGTool and BuildOS, uses Tadzio's improved IMGFS tools, and incorporates some simple Visual Basic code.
What you can do with this release:
Create a dump and make packages using PKGTool
Add/Remove packages
Create splashscreen, HTC Logo, and startup screen
Add splashscreen, HTC logo, and startup screen
Set all components of rom to one location for easy access to build (for lazy people like me who don't want to go searching)
(When this thing is finally released, G3 and G4 flashing support will be enabled)
Since the kitchen is still in its beta, I have disabled to option to flash the ROM to the device.
WARNING: I am not responsible for a bricked device if you choose to go ahead and flash the ROM to the device by starting up the RUU manually!
Last but not least, credit goes to bepe, maimach, tadzio, the-equinoxe for their tools that were used in this kitchen. Also, I thank Faria, mUn, mfrazzz, anichillus, Molski, and countless others who have directly/indirectly helped me understand about ROM cooking.

The update files are attached along with a readme to tell you where to put them
hmm waiting 4 this...
for an update, has anyone able to do anything with the kitchen at all? i'm guessing it doesn't work though...

Maybe I'm missing something, but I never saw anyplace to download this in your first post. Just a description. I figured you were uploading and then forgot about this until you just replied...
oh sorry, I was hoping you would post a request in this thread. i just wanted to know who was going to try it. NEW LINK: http://www.sendspace.com/file/pm7az1
as of now, i know that only nothin and badbert have it. if anyone is trying it, please post in this thread.
Wondering if anyone was successful in building a ROM file using this kitchen if you've had the time.
Feedback of any type is appreciated!
Anyone?
Anyone have any type of feedback? I'm kinda banking on that before I make a final release. I understand though if you don't have the time to test this.

I tried to download with that link and it gives me a rar file that does not open or contain anything. Any way to upload it to sendspace or to rapidshare
same here. the file is 1k i was looking forward to this.
my dreams were crushed
No luck with the upload link
I too got a very small file that was not in any particular format.
kernelguy
Sorry. I didn't know. Uploaded to sendspace. Link provided in previous post and and first post. Weird how lots of things I upload have problems with them!
Kitchen Updated!
Updated program and dump batch file located in first post. Most exceptions are now handled and buttons work properly. All batch files are now running in hidden mode.
Feedback please!
Any feedback? I'm not releasing this 'till I'm sure that it works for other people too.
Please, if you have time, give me some feedback on this program. I've also stopped my GUI aWizard project because I want to finish this one first.

You shouldn't have removed the link (it is still in my reply if anyone wants it). I published my kitchen to be used/modified by everyone, but It you make it public, you should said what parts are your work and what parts are taken from someothers.

RoverPC/Ndrive s400

First of all, this is my first attempt to make any kind of rom.
As you may have noticed my device is not an htc so creating this rom will be much more difficult, less support.
I have read several threads (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533423, etc) and i've decided to use visualkitchen for my test.
I think I've placed the files in the correct places, at least the ones from wm6.5.x, however I still have some doubts regarding the ROM and OEM part.
Can anyone refer a good guide for this part or help out?
Thank you,
Alsuki.

HTC Touch 2 : change the language, the OS...

I'm a brand new HTC user. I got an HTC Touch 2 (T3333) today for the half the price because the Windows Mobile OS installed is in Dutch; the seller told me that it was impossible to change but I knew for sure that it was. I mean, we are installing Android on toasters nowadays...
So it is possible, as I found out on this board (the "Mega - ROM - Hotfix - User Manual - roll-up thread" topic; I can't post links yet, sorry). I've downloaded the ROM and I'm waiting for rapidshare to allow me to download the manual...
While I wait, could you be so kind to tell me if an Android port was successful on that telephone ? If so, how well it is supported ?
If not, I'm open to any fix and tweaks topics that you can point me out in order to get the maximum out of my new phone. I'm already searching the board but I'm listening...
Thanks !

lol its not my work... its the teams work at Touch2 / Mega section. You can check out my rom that im currently building its WM 6.5.5 os but still in working progress..
Well, thank you for spreading the good news then...
I will dive into the subject tonight.
Hmmm...I tried upgrade with a French ROM but I can't, I get the 294 error. It wasn't that easy. I tried changing the settings in the Systems menu but that didn't work obviously.
Am I missing something here ?
Okay, I'm very sorry : my browser didn't loaded the board well on my first visit and I only discovered the HTC Touch 2 Mega section now.
I will ask my question over there...

[DEV] GoogleCode page for Android on Photon

Hi devs (schlund, devras, tzacapaca, anynymous devs & future devs)
Since Cardsharing deleted all the photon kernel repository on GIT website (thank you Cardsharing), we need to do it again.
I suggest we use Google Code:
http://code.google.com/p/support/wiki/GettingStarted
Google code has a project src hosting (for devs), a bug tracker (for devs and users), a wiki (for n00bs) and a download section.
The drawback is, all of you guys need a google ID to use it.
Otherwise we can continue with a new GIT repository, or use google SVN for that, or any other tool of your suggestion.
What do you think?
ok sorry i forgot, codiak already created this page for photon:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/
let's use this!
Sry for spamming, but why did Cardsharing delete all hes posts ?

Though cardsharing is a great developer but is being childish at this time. He just believe r0bin, schlund and other developers are not supporting him.
@cardsharing: stop acting rude dude. Think evaone is developing their part of job and developing their part of work. Please don't act so badly and help us porting android on hd mini.
thanks r0bin, schlund and other developers for porting android for us.
hi guys,
project page have been updated, codiak and tzacapaca are the big boss of the page
download latest release, see here:

tutorial on how to install, see here:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-andr...ation_Tutorial
to report a new bug, see here:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/issues/list
feel free to write a WIKI page for FAQ or specific help on photon (like Wifi setup etc)

for devs that want to analyse or checkout src code, see here:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/source/checkout
Who did this new thing 18.05.2011_r96.rar in the Download list?
I didn't know that has been added since 5/23?
Please if something new we must know..
Thanks

This release has been done by Schlund, using his new kitchen!
To my knowledge, it is similar to the previous latest release, but thanks to schlund's kitchen it takes less space.
Schlund's Kitchen is a tool for devs (many thanks Schlund, this tool is very powerful!)
It allows you to update and modify easily the files stored inside system.ext2, init.rd and kernel and generate those files for test & release.
Schlund also wrote a wiki here:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/wiki/GettingStartedWithTheKITCHEN
Regarding releases changes, don't worry, if there is any bug fixed this will be posted on the forum.
Till now, we're still working on 3G, little progress:
photon can now be "attached" to GPRS, next step is IP configuration.
be patient...
Thank you for your answer Robin.. & Thanks for schlund also.
No problem.. I will be patient
I just wanted to say if new packages, as I said: Please if something new we must know.. for helping or something else..
Anyway Thanks
