History tab in contacts - Captivate General

Has anyone noticed that when u go into contacts there is a history tab that saves every email, mms, sms & call sent or recieved by the phone. This is very annoying when u go to erase ur call & sms log as you also have to go into contacts and erase the history log also. Is there anyway to turn this off, is there a change in froyo?
Thanks in advance

Still has never worked for me... i've set it numerous times to just show calls, they all still show back up eventually. Don't know why the settings won't stay?

Thanks i'll try this and report back.

[Q] SMS shows received time not sent time

Hi,
I have a question.. is it possible to change the settings so that text messages that we get show the time as the sent time instead of received time.
I did a search for this on the forums (and google) and i believe someone worked on it for the galaxy s I9000. Is there anything we can do for the Nexus S. I also saw that there is an app called SMS Timestamper fix which adds the correct times to the texts, but i just wanted to know if its possible to fix it in the phone settings itself?
Thanks,
the SMS time fix is only to show received time, not sent time
the sent time should be recorded properly as it uses the time you sent out on your phone

Im not sure if you are thinking the same as me. I dont have any issue with the time being an hour behind the correct time (which is what i understand the time fix is for, but correct me if i am wrong).
The situation I have at the moment is, say i am in an area without reception and people send me smss. I do not receive them, but as soon as i go into an area with reception, all the sms's arrive on my phone. However, the time associated with the sms's is that of when they arrive on my phone (ie when i have just moved back into an area with reception), and not the time they were sent (which would be much more useful).
Hope that makes sense, and sorry if you did understand my problem already.
I have searched in the default messaging app, but i cant find the settings Use original timestamps. Maybe I am missing something.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
I just checked and use original timestamp is there indeed. Check it again man.

very odd indeed... i checked again, i went to messaging app (the default one with the green bubble icon with smiley face), settings, and definitely not there for me. I see settings for delivery reports, but not a "use original timestamp".
I am running the deodexed stock rom with voodoo kernel, posted by master, perhaps this is causing the issue? (i actually believe i have never seen this setting on my phone even when i was running 100% stock with normal kernel).
Is there anyway i can reinstall the default messaging app?

Use an app that will split messages for you, or at least has a counter so you can split them yourself.
go into messaging, hit menu, settings and look for Split message, you can also check-mark message counter...
i have not had the issue since

[Q] Notifications go silent on the Skyrocket

Hi all,
I've been a member for a while, but this is my first post in a while.
I recently changed my Motorola Atrix to a Samsung Skyrocket. I love the phone, however I am having a little problem. The Skyrocket will not make noise or vibrate for notifications (such as text, or email, facebook, twitter, etc) but will play ringtone for phonecalls. When I restart the phone, it will work maybe for a day, but after that, it stops working again. Sometimes after receiving a call the notifications will start working again. I've checked the volume settings, and the notifications and ringtone settings, and everything like that... it's all normal. Any suggestions? I've been searching in the forums, and other sites as well, but dont seem to find anything.
The phone is rooted, but that's about it, stock rom. I also did a master reset on the phone as well.
I was using go sms but deleted it and the notifications still go silent.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!
Hopefully someone here can help ya. I still have not found a solution
Ome thing I never really thought of was trying an Odin restore back to stock...a full clean slate. If that doesn't fix it then definitely a defective phone

That's what I did this morning. So far it's working perfectly, hopefully it will keep working.
Thanks for the reply!
I installed Go SMS again and seems to be working. What I did notice this time around, is that when I was setting up the notifications for the Facebook app, I noticed the option to choose from the Android System ringtones or from Go SMS. Maybe I had it set up to choose ringtones from Go SMS. Seems to be working fine now.
The notification volume and incoming call volume are seperated. The notification sometimes changes somehow idk how. If you want the incoming and notification to be the same download MySettings. The open the app up and click and hold the ringer icon then itll come up with volume settings. Check the box that says use incoming and notification sound together

GMail says I have 3 unread messages but it shows only 2

Hello,
many times happened that GMail unread count messages notification indicates I have 3 email to read, but it shows only 2 of 3 unread emails.
I solved pressing the refresh button so far, but it doesn't work now.
How can I solve?
had this problem too.
go from Inbox to Labels then choose all messages and this is where your last unread message should show up...
Yes, I've actually noticed that if I go in all mail I see that message. If I am not wrong, this happens only for certain messages. Strange!

Happened to me too once. I solved opening gmail with browser and reading the mails.

I don't think it's an issue, just that there's an unread email you missed long ago Like fonpacific me said, go to Gmail on your PC and read the email.
Reading the email on the pc is not a solution. For sure I can do it, but it is not absolutely normal that I see 2 unread messages but the counter says 3.
The email is not an old one that I missed long ago. Actually it's just an email I've received few minutes earlier.
As far as I can see, this only happened with a particular message today.
I think it may be related to background syncing. For me this problem shows up more often if I have background syncing turned off. But may be a bug in Gmail app as well.
Well, I've noticed that this mainly happens only with a certain type of e-mails. They are are all bugreport (bugzilla) notifications (e.g. KDE bugs, or Gentoo bugs, etc.). And background syncing is always on, for me.

Hi,
You can clear data for the Gmail app and it should function properly and you can then see the unread mail and the app should function normally henceforth. Happens to me almost always when i restore Nandroid backups. Let me know if it worked
to all, just click refresh and there mails
Sorry for my English. You have to change the settings how many days back you want to synchronize. Messages that are unable to see the extent they are not what you set.

[Q] number above message envelope won't go away

Hello everybody, I usually hangout over at the HP Touchpad forums, but just got this new SG3 that's begging to get rooted.Anyways, the little number that shows up above the messaging icon on the gs3 homescreen won't go away for me.I delete all the threads and however many number of threads that I had going disappear from the messaging app, but on the home screen the number still stays there. I can reboot and it goes away.
Any help would be appreciated.I printed out the 200 page manual but haven't gone through the whole thing yet. Most of it though. Is it something that I am missing to clear the number, or is it something with the phone ? Thanks.
I would clear data for the messaging app and see if that resolves the issue.

Update : I figured it out.Under settings/ developer options / apps/ do not keep activities: destroy every activity as soon as the user leaves it. I had a check mark in the box. I guess it was killing the app right after I deleted the text then I when back to the home screen it would still show a number above the messages icon. Maybe it didn't clear the messages number? WhenI leave the box unchecked and go back to the home screen after I delete the messages the number would disappear above messaging icon. Weird.
Thanks for the suggestions.
