RA revovery and ENG hboot in one flash after UR Forever - EVO 4G Android Development

This is a PC36IMG.zip that will restore both RA recovery 1.7.0.2 and the ENG hboot 0.7.6 after running an official Sprint RUU (or any other scenario that might have upgraded your recovery and hboot). I noticed RA revovery was having a lot of problems when using a non-ENG hboot.
You must have S-OFF (Via Unrevoked Forever or some other magical way noone else knows about)
To apply this, just copy it to the root of your SD card, pull the battery, and boot up while holding the volume down key. You will have to reboot once before entering recovery, or it will not work properly, even though it might seem like it is. In one instance, the bootloader flashed fine, but flashing the recovery failed. If this happens, just pull the battery and try it again. It should work.
PS- This will not root your 2.2 evo! I made this for myself so I can nand backup my CM and run the RUU to use ## codes, then flash this so I can nand restore. All I did was package these together because one flash is faster than 2, and I figured I might as well share it with the community. I will provide no support, and promise no updates.

Edit:
Wanted to add real quick: Big thanks to Toast for for providing the ENG hboot and all the dev work you put into the evo, what with the rooting hackery and CM6 and all.
Thanks to Amon_RA for the rock solid recovery!
Big thanks to the unrevoked team. Forever is a big step in the right direction for me, and although a lot of ppl on this forum may have a problem with your software, I'm still rooting for you. Looking forward to your next breakthrough!

Thank you so very much was needing this since last night.

Curious...does this downgrade your PRI to 1.34_003? I know everyone is probably blue in the face about PRI but I figure people will want to know.

I don't think it would downgrade your PRI. That is part of the radio firmware, and all this does is give you the ENG hboot and recovery... Although I can't say for sure. I've been stuck on 1.34 and can't get it to upgrade anyway.

I believe I read somewhere that the 1.34 PRI comes hand-in-hand with the ENG boot. I know I had the 1.40 PRI and it went to 1.34 after I unlocked NAND. I would guess that this also reverts your PRI back to 1.34, but if someone knows anything I don't, feel free to chime in.

That was essentially what I was thinking. To my knowledge the downgraded PRI came from flashing the engineering bootloader in Toast's method (eng-PC36IMG.ZIP). If the OP's zip file is the same engineering bootloader, then I would say that yes it will downgrade your PRI if you flash it.

That was only if you flashed the whole package, which was your only option with Toast's method. With Unrevoked Forever, you can flash a repackaged ENG bootloader just fine without changing the PRI.

pretty sure PRI is NOT radio. Radio images are firmware updates, the PRI is the driver for the OS to use the radios. (i could be wrong)

So this has changed my recovery so I'm now able to flash to CM6? What in the end is the major difference in these recoveries? And is Nand backup the same as a nandroid back up? I guess my point is that if I used a nandroid backup can this recovery restore from it?
and if need be is there anyway to get back to the other loader?

As long as you have the 0.7.6 HBOOT then you can flash CM6....As for the difference in recoveries, I've read that Clockwork doesn't completely (and correctly) wipe the phone...Nand is the same as Nandroid and yes you should be able to recover your Nandroid backups with Amon_Ra

Thanks so much!!

I get rebooted to bootloader continuously after flashing the OPs package. Any ideas as to what I my have done worng?

how do you flash this using bootloader?

Was in the same boat with this guy.
I rooted 2.2 and wanted to switch from clockwork to RA. I went ahead and patched your file and got stuck in the bootloader. While I was stuck there I went ahead and updated the RA to the latest (1.8). After a reboot I was able to get into RA recovery and flash Fresh Rom. Rebooted phone and it was back to normal booting.
Help that helps.

I'm going through the same constant reboot to hboot loop.

Anyone have an Asia Nandroid Backup?

Can someone who has an asian aria post there stock rom nandroid backup here?
I thought the aria was for ATT only?!
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
No it was released in Asia. Do a search on google you'll see it.
I got my Aria in Taiwan. I'd help you out but I'm still looking into the process. I've installed a bunch of stuff (but no root yet) so I guess it's technically not a stock image anymore.
Well if you get unrevoked to work and get into clockwork you can backup your current image, wipe the phone and than do another nandroid and send it to us. Come join us on freenode. http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#liberatedAria someone here should be able to guide you.
If you go here http://unrevoked.com/recovery/ and get this software. It is alot easier to set this up in ubuntu. If you need to there is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741824 that is already preconfigured boot cd that has the utilities on it to install unrevoked and get you started on rooting.
From my understanding, rooting my phone requires overwriting the existing recovery image. So before I even do a NAND backup, I want to backup the stock recovery image, which is at /dev/mtd1 for me. If I flash the ClockwordMod Recovery image using the Unrevoked method, wouldn't that overwrite the stock recovery image?

Try this turn your phone off. Hold volume down and hit power. It will power up to a different screen. On the top left in green it should say something like LIBERTY PVT...
Can you send me all of that information in green. And then load recovery and tell me what version it is. You scroll with the volume controls and hit power to select recovery.

My recovery is "Android system recovery <2e>", although I'm guessing that the actual recovery image flashed into my phone is different than the recovery image on the AT&T branded Aria, since after initial setup, my phone had some Chinese apps preloaded, as well as wifi tethering and 3rd party app installation unlocked by default.
The reason I mention this is because while HTC provides a stock recovery rom on the Aria's US website, there have no equivalent on the Taiwanese website (or other websites). Meaning, I've gotta do it myself =|

That tool will root the phone and replace the recovery for you. There you would do a nandroid backup to your sdcard and copy the backup back to your pc and keep it safe to restore your image. Also that nandroid image would be what we are looking for. It is alot easier to do this in ubuntu. We have created a custom boot image. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741824

yep, so it's still not "stock" one.
Before someone release a suitable RUU, is there any way to make mine?
If someone can make one, I want to do that too..
I found some topics about stock restore, but it seems different from models.
Right.
The problem is that we want to back up the stock recovery image (easiest way seems to be to copy /dev/mtd/mtd1), but that requires root, which requires the stock recovery to be replaced, which defeats the whole purpose.
Is there a way to do this?

No, /dev/mtd/mtd1 has permissions 600 and is owned by root, and from adb, my uid and gid are 2000(shell). Basically, only root can manipulate the file.

This. If you rooted your phone yourself this is easy. I was initially scared to update the radio for my TB coming from my OG droid. Just make sure you're running an MR2/2.5 compatible ROM. Works on CM7; I'm also going to test out a sense ROM for kicks later today. The links on the original radio thread are down but there is another thread with them up. good luck.

In addition to what g00s3y said, I highly recommend that after you flashed the radio and are booted up into your GB rom, either rename or delete the PG05IMG.zip file from your sdcard. If you leave it there and have to boot into the bootloader or recovery in the future this may cause you a great deal of annoyance as it will always try to flash it and you'll have to boot the phone up and deal with it afterwards anyways.
This is something I really do not like about HTC phones. It shouldn't automatically go straight for the zip and try to flash without my input requesting to do so. Very very annoying and something I hope to see changed in future bootloader versions.
So, after I rooted the device with MR1, should I flash rom first or MR2 first?
Doesn't actually make a difference. If you flash an MR2 ROM on an MR1 Radio, you just won't have a signal. Go to HBOOT, flash the right Radio, reboot and everything is dandy.

T-Mobile OTA 1.63.531.2

Just got T-Mobile OTA 1.63.531.2

Thanks. I posted here so someone can see the source for developing if needed.
How do I get to hboot again with cm recovery?
pull your battery then put it back in and hold volume down and power. Then it will say confirm and press yes
Revolutionary hboot finds the zip file, does the loading bar but then does nothing. Have to choose fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock or image crc.
well it shouldve flashed...idk what to say....is in the root of the sdcard and named PG59IMG.zip
Yup I'm going to try the variant at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23802172&postcount=7
This type of file is not a file to flash with the bootloader
Ran into this before trying to manually update a mytouch 4g
Is a regular update file like we used to do with update files on nexus one a so forth.
They have changed the way the updates work though and can not be flashed manually from what I have seen..
Needs to be in like a secure location probably /cache/ota or something like that.
Crap, so what do I do? Do I need to use that full update that does seem to work? But that also does a wipe?
ohh ya your right now that i look at the update.zip....just download the full update and flash that in hboot...dont forget to rename to PG59IMG.zip
Anyway to avoid a wipe?
well backup all your apps with titanium backup...then restore them with titanium
I've manually flashed the OTA updates that come to the phone. They flash thru stock recovery, not hboot or CWM. I don't think it matters what you name it, you just select it. And I'm not positive, but it might require a fully stock device.
Edit: I was S-OFF when I did tho. I think Blue might have tried with S-ON, and it wouldn't happen. Can't remember for sure tho

You can DL and flash stock recovery easily enough, just go to Blue6IX's Developer Reference thread, and go to the Recovery section. It could be worth a try, but I'm not sure the update will work with your customized setup. Might have to do as xmc suggested.
You need a stock recovery to flash an OTA - as mentioned above, it's not a PG59IMG.zip type of file or any other that hboot can process.
Custom recoveries can't process this type of update.
This thread should probably be in general, as it's more of asking for help then providing a solution.

[Q] Flashed CM recovery with S-ON - hanging splash at boot

ok, this is my first post, and yes, i have googled for a day and a half and havent found anything similar, although it might be my wording. here it goes.....
i bought a MyTouch 4g Slide on craigslist and it was working. i started the rooting process using the revolutionary method. i discovered i couldnt get perm boot because of my hboot version 1.45.0013.
i moved on to try and root an alternate way, but wasnt sure how to proceed after getting temproot.
in the process i managed to flash the kernel (worst idea ever) in fastboot, which broke the boot process, it would power on, splash, then a black screen.
i then used the all in one tool by hasoon2000 v2.0 to flash the CM recovery, i could get to the recovery but nothing would happen when i selected any of the options (i think we all know why)
i searched and found stock recovery, kernel and system images and tried to flash them but no dice.
when booting it hangs at the splash screen, when i go into hboot and go to recovery, it reboots and then goes to recovery, but i see the download screen briefly then goes to a red triangle with an exclamation point over a phone.
the problem is, at least i think, is that i cant format \data and \system to flash the stock images i have.
any ideas?

If you get recovery back on there. Trackpad is what selects options in recovery. Then you can wipe and flash whatever you want. Stop using power
And if your not rooted yet or whatever because the post is worded funny, you might want to follow on through with rooting so you can do a manual format of everything

[Q] HTC Evo Shift 4g help

Alright, I have looked and tried almost everything I could find to help me on this but nothing has worked yet, my problem is my screen gets stuck in the HTC boot screen and won't move any further, what I did to get it to this is I got my shift rooted though the htcdev site, but it is not s-off, I wanted to install a cyanogen mod, the 7.2 one on it, well i went to CWM and said install aborted so I tried to reboot my phone and now stuck, i can still get into the CWM recovery but nothing has helped yet,I have tried to push several boot.img files, and tried to downgrade to 2.2 and nothing...I am all up for ideas.
EDIT: I have done some tweaking with restoring my old back up and I have come to the conclusion that my /system folder is corrupt, i know a few ways to fix that but anyone one the best way and maybe a 2.3.4 system folder to use?
EDIT2: I replaced my system folder with one that i have and now it gets past the white htc screen but will loop the sprint 4g screens.
FIXED IT,\: what I did was I managed to RUU back to 2.2 through this thread, now I am on 2.2 and will continue to get an s-off root, thank you for all your help

When you went through HTC-Dev.com you did not Root the Device. All you can do at the site is Unlock the Bootloader. To resolve the issue you can try a Factory Data Restore in Bootloader, but you are going to lose all the current Data on the Device. It may or may not work. If it does not then, you may have to run an RUU. To do the Factory Restore pull the Battery on the device. Then put the Battery back in. Hold Volume Button down , now at the same time press the Power Button. It will boot into Bootloader. Once it is in Bootloader use the Volume Rockers to toggle Up, or Down. Then choose Factory Restore by pressing the Pwer Button. Since your not rooted that's your only option that I know of other than an RUU. If that does get you out of the White Screen I would suggest finding out your Android version. Then following the correct process to attain Full Root.
Maybe I was a bit unclear, I went though the htcdev site to unlock the bootloader, then i moved clockworkmod recovery instead of the stock recovery, i then installed superuser through Clockworkmod, so i had root though that, but not an s-off root, so I then installed ROM manager and thought the cyanogen 7.2 rom would be a cool one to have, I forgot it was not an s-off root, so i went ahead with downloading it though Rom manager and it prompted me to install the new rom, and brought me to clockworkmod recovery and said the install was aborted, and i rebooted and then it got stuck at the htc screen, I can get into bootloader and clockworkmod recovery, I have a backup of my stock rom on my computer and put it onto my sd card hoping i can restore to that one, but i get the md5 mismatch error, working on fixing that now.
I still believe that most of the issue is that you are not Fully Rooted. What version of Android where you on when you started ? The reason I ask is because the method you used is a bit unorthodox, so I doubt your Rooted. I would still suggest doing a factory Restore. But you can look HERE on how to fix the MD5 mismatch error.
Yeah, if you only unlocked bootloader, thats not a full root, you still have a ways to go
The best thing would be to just RUU and start over using VICODAN's method, which covers 2.2 all the way up to 2.3.4

The method i used for rooting was though this post, I got up to the step downgrading from 2.3.4 to 2.2 till about step 17 of the 2.3.4, I wasn't sure if it acutally downgraded to 2.2 because I am unable to check my version though the bootloader or clockworkmod recovery, so I most likely am still on 2.3.4

Ok so your defiantly not on 2.2 . The question is what version of 2.3.4 are you on ? Go into HBoot and go to System Info. What is the OS Ver. ? Have you tried doing a Factory Reset just to see if it will Boot back up ?

The only way I know how to do it would be using adb and just flashing all the images through that.
