I've seen the posts that talk about how AT&T will censor within the Android Marketplace but I can't seem to find the answer to whether AT&T bans alternate marketplaces that aren't run by Anroid like AndApp.
Anyone know the answer to that? Thanks!
I think the only place that AT&T allows loading apps from is teh Market, which will be the market icon on the phone.
As you have probably read it is easy to get a round that issue.
So I don't need to worry about getting the Captivate then on AT&T and not having access to some awesome app out there just cause it lives in another marketplace? I actually haven't read that, which is why I was asking. Do you have a link that explains that?'
Thanks!

By the way...the General section has a lot of information on how to root, enable sideloading...etc.

Did someone find a way to get the blocked nfl mobile app from verizon?
Would it have killed you to search?
its in the software section of the Android subforum here. Its a long thread, but be sure to read it all, there are updated versions a few pages in.
Regular Android Dev and Hacking section I believe. Post 610 maybe? A few people refer to the post throughout the pages. Should be able to get one going. Got a working one myself now. Good luck! This is s necessary app. Lol Entirely necessary.

moral of the story I guess is he should of searched better....lol
Hope you find it and while your at it get the unlocker so you dont have to go through this again...lol
Hah well true, sometimes its easier and more helpful to try and direct than search. But getting the search function down is key. At least here at XDA. A lot of forums, when searching, can be fruitless and / or useless. Hope you, OP, found it.
=)

Ok, I am sure folks have asked this before. I have done a search and still can not find a answer. I am wanting the option in my settings that will allow me to download non market apps.
I have rooted the phone and am running the 2.2 custom rom that I got before AT&T released theirs. When I go into setting to the area that should have the option to allow non market apps, it is not there.
I thought that once you rooted and installed the custom rom, it would give you this option as I know that AT&T blocks this on their firmware / rom.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Obviously you did not do a search and posts like need to be in q&a section. We had this place cleaned up a couple days ago to rid the general of threads like this.

x2...
You can use this to root, but then also to allow NM Apps. Real simple, just have to have the drivers installed on your computer.
Here's a link for you SuperOneClick

First, This is my first time on this paticular website so knowing the exact area to post is not always the easiest as all forums are different.
Second, I am a member of different tech type forums out there and I would never slam someone like you are doing. The purpose of forums like this is to help people and not to see how big of a "****" you can be to someone.
You should keep in mind that you may need help someday on a product you have and you go online to get a answer and that person acts the way you did and see how you like it.
I have even ran forums before and have kicked people off that acted in this manner.... Just be careful on who you piss off.

Droid Explorer works, too
I believe Astro File Manager also has this ability in the Preferences section..
There's no option, it just installs. There is an option in 2.3 though.

It is due to att removing the option for their devices. If att release a 2.3.3 update you can be sure that it will be removed from there as well. The reason you see it now is that att is the only one that does it and we are working with the euro version
I understand. Every custom rom I've seen just installs even though the option is not there.

Hi! I just got my first Android Phone.
The HTC Inspire.
I've been told I could speed up this phone but I'm also curious to know what else I could do with it?
I used to have an iPhone and I would just change the theme and stuff...
So, I suppose my question(s) is/are;
1. How can I speed up my phone?
2. What can I do with my phone?
3. Is there a site where I can browse custom themes for my phone?
4. how do I add custom ringtones/ringback
5. What are some basic things I should get before I start modding my phone and what are some neat basic add-ons out there to make my phone look "neato"
thanks for taking the time for reading this.
Really? It's here in the forum.
Wow...really...wow. do they not still play the noob video about searching when you first sign up for the site?

Swearing is not allowed in the forums. Only warning. Now as far as the other posts. Welcome to XDA and please do read over the rules you agreed to when you joined. You are expected to search for your answers instead of opening a new thread. Before you brick your phone (make it useless and non returnable) Take a few hours and read up on the stickies. Search around some and read some more. what you are doing is nothing like the Iphone, this is real hacking. Not a simple Security override like jailbreaking. If done wrong you could end up with more problems then you can handle.

Hello,
I just got my Skyrocket yesterday and promptly rooted it. I uninstalled some of the more obvious AT&T applications but there were some I wasn't completely sure about; so I decided to wait, patience being a virtue and all.
So, has anyone (or will anyone) come up with a list of the apps we can safely remove from this device without it affecting the performance/capability of the phone?
Thanks in advance.

since its not in our forum....
it would be a good idea for one the OP's to just add your threads Info in the OP of this thread. instead redirecting them to one NOT in our forum.
yes, i'll admit it, i'm not reading every single word of these damn forums because the navigation sucks and i just don't have time.
i have done my searching and come up with nothing that outright answered my question that i could find
now, ....that should cover all of you people that will "this has been answered a million times" like *******s.
i have a t959v galaxy s 4g. Tmo finally caught up that i tether while i'm at work.
my question is...do any of the custom roms for this phone have working tethering where tmo could see that i'm using data, but not know i'm tethering?
i've got no problem rooting my phone, i only havent done it because i didn't have a reason to. i know i'll need to root, but what rom supports it?
also, would it be the rom or the kernel that handles that?
thanks in advance to anyone that doesn't post an "i'm aggrivated cause you don't know" comment answer.
http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/misc/how-to-bypass-t-mobiles-anti-tethering-policy/
sweet. thank you. i wonder how long this'll last.
most of the time i'm tethering, i'm playing team fortress 2 on STEAM.
I really like that game too
well, you should have posted this in the Q&A forum instead of development, but other than that you have a valid question.
try "FoxFi" from the market, it should do what you need.
Never had a problem with barnacle on the play store. Tmo has never noticed as far as I can tell. Does require root.

Huh, I haven't had any bad luck yet with using a normal browser, but I should probably do it.
